Stimulated emission depletion (STED) super‐resolution imaging and multiphoton fluorescence lifetime imaging techniques are used to image the aggregation of ZnII porphyrin arrays onto flat and conductive, as well as insulating, surfaces. New synthetic routes using directed‐ as well as self‐assembling methods of new, luminescent hybrids incorporating these functional porphyrins and pristine single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) are reported. Multi‐domain imaging and spectroscopy techniques shed light on the potential implications of the covalent and supramolecular functionalization approaches in solution, dispersion, on surfaces and in the solid state. The guanine nucleobase aggregates into tetrameric or different ribbon structures on surfaces or in solution. The preference of guanine for a particular ribbon structure over other arrangements under experimental settings is explained quantum chemically. An important cooperative effect of the σ electronic system in the hydrogen bonding is revealed for the switching between different self‐assembled structures. The pyrene 4,5,9,10‐tetraone (PTO) molecule spontaneously forms two‐dimensional metal–organic nanostructures with atoms from the substrate when deposited on a Cu(111) surface or with iron atoms if Fe is co‐deposited with PTO. The nanostructures are stabilized by the coordination of individual metallic atoms by the molecule's strongly electronegative ketone moieties. The driving force for the substitution of Cu with Fe in the metal–organic complexes is determined by the relative strengths of the ketone–metal bond. Multifunctional tri(carbazole – triazole) macrocycles were prepared in a one ‐ pot synthesis. They can be adsorbed from solution onto graphite surfaces and into well ‐ ordered stacked films under the direction of lateral hydrogen bonding, co ‐ facial stacking interactions, and steric contacts. Anion ‐ binding affinity arising from CH hydrogen bonds directed into the central cavity is active in both solution and the adsorbed states; anion ‐ binding events modify the film structure. A lightweight, deformable carbon ‐ based nanofiber sponge has been fabricated by electrospinning. Owing to its inherent hydrophobicity, oleophilicitiy, and high porosity (>99 %), the sponge can be used as a sorbent for the selective removal of oil from water. Results show that the sponge has a maximum sorption capacity up to 140 g g−1 with a sorption rate that exhibits solution ‐ viscosity dependence. Supramolecular nanomaterials  for bulk heterojunction organic solar cells have been designed and constructed through hierarchical organization of hydrogen ‐ bonded rosette assembly of barbituric ‐ acid ‐ conjugated oligothiophene semiconductors.
