One-pot synthesis of novel chlorin-fused monospirooxindolopyrrolidines has been accomplished in good yield via a facile [3 + 2]-cycloaddition reaction of azomethine ylides, derived from isatin/N-benzylisatin and sarcosine, with various porphyrin derivatives as dipolarophiles.

Abstract

Rearrangement of epoxides with lithium diethylamide or lithium diisopropylamide in conjunction with lithium tert-butoxide was studied in different solvents. In some cases, an increase in the rate of reaction was observed. Rearrangement of epoxides with lithium diethylamide or lithium disopropylamide in conjunction with lithium t-butoxide was studied in different solvents. In a few cases, an increase in the rate of reaction was observed.

Abstract

The cleavage of α-hydroxy tert-butyldimethylsilyl ether to diol takes place efficiently with LAH. It has been proposed that the reaction proceeds via intramolecular hydride transfer from the alkoxy aluminium hydride. In order to substantiate this, reduction of TBDMS ether with LAH in a variety of substrates was studied.

Abstract

A variety of silyl and THP ethers were directly converted into the corresponding acetates using acetic anhydride in the presence of a catalytic amount of Cu(OTf)2 in CH2Cl2. It was observed that MEM ethers could also be cleaved under the same conditions. The reaction was also studied with other Lewis acids.

Bridged tricyclic dihydroazocines, readily available from u-amino acids were subjected to a series of diastereoselective [3,2]-Stevens and Sommelet-Hauser rearrangements via the corresponding 'azocinium' salts. The enantiopure rearrangement products have functionalities that can be used in preparing diversely substituted heterocyclic scaffolds.
