Abstract

The three-dimensional vanadium-nickel phosphate (C2H10N2)4[H2Ni(H2O)2(VO)8(OH)4(PO4)8]·H2O (1) was prepared by hydrothermal methods and its structure and electrochemical properties were characterized. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system with the space group P21/n and cell parameters a = 14.392(3) A, b = 10.122(2) A, c = 18.305(4) A, β = 90.34(3)°, V = 2666.7(9) A3, Z = 2. The structure consists of macroanionic V–Ni–P layers constructed from VO5 square pyramids, NiO6 octahedra, and PO43– tetrahedral groups. The layers are further connected into a 3D infinite structure through the NiO6 octahedra and there are organic species protonated ethanediamine molecules and water molecules located, which make the structure more stable. Its electron sponge behavior was revealed via electrochemical tests.

Abstract

A simple and practical method for the preparation of (S)-Ketoprofen (2-(3-benzoylphenyl) propionic acid) has been developed through the hydrolysis of its chloroethyl ester catalyzed by a cheap and commercially available crude Candida rugosa lipase preparation under an extremely acidic condition, pH 2.5, and in the presence of Tween-80. As the reaction was carried out in a shake flask with baffles, the degree of hydrolysis was enhanced from 31.5% to 42.2%. A needle-like crystalline of (S)-Ketoprofen was obtained with 95.7% e.e. after simple separation and purification.

Abstract

Energetic-radiation-induced dimerization reaction of fullerenes was found to be a simple and highly selective method for synthesis of C2m−X−C2n (m = n or m ≠ n) type molecules without formation of other products. Utilizing the new method, C70−C−C70, C60−C−C70, C60−C−C60, and C70−O−C70 were prepared and characterized. The method is capable of synthesizing new C2m−X−C2n molecules by introducing X (different atoms) into the reaction system. Energetic radiation created reactive sites for covalently bonded bridges between fullerene molecules originally only weakly bound by van der Waals force. This observation may open a new subject and practicable approach for polymer sciences of fullerenes.
