Zero-dimensional (0D) chiral hybrid metal halides (HMHs) with narrow-band circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) show considerable promise in three-dimensional displays. In this work, 0D ( S / R -3MOR) 3 TbCl 6 and ( S / R -3MOR) 3 EuCl 6 (abbreviated as S / R -TbCl, S / R -EuCl) enantiomers with characteristic rare-earth ion emissions are synthesized. S / R -TbCl and S / R -EuCl exhibit narrow-band green and red emissions with high photoluminescence quantum yields of (85-91)% and (48-52)%, respectively. These materials present distinct CPL signals with dissymmetry factors up to ±0.006 and ±0.009 for S / R -TbCl and S / R -EuCl, respectively. These chiroptical properties confer the potential for their applications in circularly polarized light-emitting diodes for future displays.

This study introduced a novel cross-hydroalkenylation approach for addressing a resilient challenge in C5- exo -selective norbornene derivative functionalization. The process, guided by mutual interactions among the NHC-Ni catalyst and the substrate pairs, ensured highly chemo- and regio-selective insertion.

Catalyst-free annulations of 2-(4 H -benzo[ d ][1,3]oxazin-4-yl)acrylates have been successfully achieved under mild conditions. Specifically, the reaction of 2-(4 H -benzo[ d ][1,3]oxazin-4-yl)acrylates with sulfur ylides furnished various 1,2-dihydroquinolines in generally high yields. Furthermore, [3+2]-annulations of 2-(4 H -benzo[ d ][1,3]oxazin-4-yl)acrylates with α,β-unsaturated imines afforded a broad scope of polysubstituted 2,3-dihydropyrroles with high efficiency.

The synthesis, characterization and reactivities of iminoborane radicals were reported. Both X-ray analysis and density functional theory calculations revealed that the unpaired electron delocalizes over the N(1)-C(1)-B(1)-N(2) moiety. Radical trap reactions showed that this radical species acts as a boron radical. These reactions also serve as methods for the synthesis of Lewis base-stabilized oxyl-terminated iminoboranes.

This study describes the development of a series of strong electron-deficient acceptor units, namely, fluorenone imide (FOI) and its derivatives, functionalized with various electron-withdrawing groups, which are developed via functionalization of the fluorenone unit with an imide group and then systematic variation of the attached electron-withdrawing groups at the bridgehead benzylic position.

Photoluminescence (PL) thermal quenching of hybrid metal halides blocks their applications. Herein, a novel type of 0D hybrid metal halide, [Pb(C 12 H 24 O 6 )Cl] 2 [Mn 2 Cl 6 ], with broad yellow emission and near-unity PL quantum yield is reported. Importantly, it preserves outstanding thermal stability up to 450 K.

Only using one type of amphiphilic block copolymers as a template, we present a facile and robust approach to in situ fabricate a series of brightly emitting Au nano-assemblies with high controllability and tunability. Simply by altering thiol ligands, the Au nano-assemblies display diverse superstructures including fibers, vesicles, and honeycombs.

Facile access to quaternary α-trifluoromethyl α-amino acids has been developed. This sequential reaction involves an Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylation of α-trifluoromethyl aldimine esters followed by an unprecedented kinetic resolution.

A BODIPY-based fluorescent sensor PS with an NO4S2 podand ligand was studied for the selective detection of Pt2+ over 21 cations as well as selected platinum drugs in aqueous medium. The platinum sensor PS shows 28-fold, 22-fold and 14-fold fluorescence turn-on enhancements to Pt2+, cisplatin and nedaplatin, and was thereby employed to detect platinum drugs in A-549 human lung cancer cells.

Phase-pure all-inorganic zero-dimensional (0D) tin halide Cs4SnX6 (X = Br, I) nanocrystals (NCs) are successfully prepared for the first time. The as-prepared Cs4SnBr6 NCs exhibit a strongly Stokes-shifted broadband emission with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 21% at room temperature.

Mesoporous LaFeO3 was used as a p-type visible-light-absorbing semiconductor (VLAS) substrate for light-driven H2 generation. The successful modification of LaFeO3 with a molecular dye (P1*) and a molecular hydrogen production catalyst (NiP) paved a novel way to construct DS-PEC photocathodes for solar-driven H2 generation by using VLASs.

Tin-based nanomaterials have been of increasing interest in many fields such as alkali-ion batteries, gas sensing, thermoelectric devices, and solar cells. Finely controllable structures and compositions of tin-based nanomaterials are crucial to improve their performances. The solution-based colloidal synthesis of these compounds offers a promising path toward controlling their structures and components. This feature article summarizes the progress in recent studies on the colloidal synthesis of tin-based nanomaterials (such as metallic tin, alloys, oxides, chalcogenides, and phosphides) and their applications in alkali-ion batteries including our own recent contributions to this subject. The challenges and future outlook of the controllable synthesis and practical development of tin-based anode materials are also addressed.

The photo- and structural properties of a series of Au(iii) indolizine complexes were determined. Controlled release of halogenated indolizine derivatives from the corresponding Au(iii) complexes was achieved by photoinduced C-X bond formation, which provided turn-on luminescence with an increase in emission intensity of up to 67 times.

We report a mild synthetic method to access Sn nanocrystals with tunable diameter and narrow size distribution (6-8%). The self-templated formation of various types of Sn chalcogenide hollow nanostructures including oxides, sulfides, selenides, and tellurides is also demonstrated for the first time. The use of air-stable tungsten hexacarbonyl that produces carbon monoxide at elevated temperature to reduce the SnCl 2 precursor and coordinate the nanoparticle surface is thought to play an essential role in this method. This synthesis method is likely to be extended to other metal systems and could find potential applications including battery anodes and catalysts.
