A hybrid material made of mononuclear organophosphorus polypyridyl ruthenium complexes covalently bonded to ruthenium nanoparticles has been synthesized via a one-pot organometallic procedure and finely characterized. These results open new avenues to access unique hybrid transition metal nanomaterials.

Herein we present ruthenium nanoparticles (Ru-NPs) stabilized with two rigid NHC ligands derived from cholesterol. The obtained nanoparticles were fully characterized and applied in the hydrogenation of various aromatic compounds under mild conditions. Interestingly, the more bulky ligand gives a slightly lower ligand coverage and a faster catalyst.

A porous Ru nanomaterial exhibits high electrocatalytic performance and excellent durability for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) under both acidic and neutral conditions. It displays a low overpotential of 83 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm -2 and an excellent durability up to 12 h in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 .

The synthesis and catalytic activity of long-chain NHC-stabilized RuNPs are presented. Full characterization of these novel nanostructures including surface state studies show that the ligand influences the number and the location of Ru active sites which impacts the NP catalytic activity, especially in hydrogenation reactions. The high stability and versatility of these nanosystems make them successful catalysts for both oxidation and hydrogenation reactions that can even be performed successively in a one pot-fashion.

The betaine adduct of N-heterocyclic carbene and carbodiimide (ICy·((p-tol))NCN) was found to be a very efficient ligand to prepare very small (1-1.3 nm) ruthenium nanoparticles (RuNPs). The coordination of the ligand on the metal surface takes place through the carbodiimide moiety. The resulting RuNPs led to decarbonylation of THF and showed size selectivity for styrene hydrogenation.

Ultra-small monodisperse rhenium nanoparticles (Re NPs; ca. 1.0-1.2 nm) were easily prepared by reducing the organometallic complex [Re2(C3H5)4] under a dihydrogen atmosphere under mild reaction conditions (3 bar H2; 120 °C). The particles can be stabilized by a ligand, hexadecylamine, or a polymer, polyvinylpyrrolidone and accommodate surface hydrides.

The preparation of Ru(0) nanoclusters stabilized by 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and their characterization by a combination of complementary techniques are described. These new Ru(0) nanoclusters provide high activity and unprecedented reusability as a heterogeneous catalyst in the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine-borane.

We report in this paper the stabilization of ruthenium nanoparticles using a very simple ligand (4-(3-phenylpropyl)pyridine), through strong pi-coordination of the phenyl moiety.

Ruthenium nanoparticles (RuNPs) were prepared through the hydrogenation of [Ru(COD)(COT)] (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene, COT = 1,3,5-cyclooctatriene) in the presence of diphosphites derived from carbohydrates as stabilizing agents, and interestingly, structural modifications of the diphosphite backbone were found to influence nanoparticle size and dispersity, as well as their catalytic activity in arene hydrogenation.
