A laser-induced immobilization strategy is applied to prepare an amorphous iron-phosphate/Fe3O4 (L-FePO) composite on a nickel foam (NF) support. By laser-irradiating an iron hydrogen phosphate (FeHP) precursor, a melting and oxidation process leads to the generation of L-FePO with hierarchical pores and an amorphous structure. L-FePO shows exceptional electrocatalytic performance for the OER in an alkaline electrolyte, demonstrating an overpotential of 256 mV at 100 mA cm−2, a Tafel slope of 71 mV dec−1, and good stability over 100 h. A scalable, and cost-effective method was employed to prepare self-supported CuSn bimetallic catalyst on carbon paper. The obtained CuSn catalyst demonstrates high faradaic efficiency of CO around or above 90% at a broad potential range from −0.7 to −1.8 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, greatly surpassing Cu or Sn counterparts. The pseudoguaianelactones A (1) and B (2), two novel sesquiterpene lactones with an unprecedented [5,7,7] ring system featuring an α-methylene-γ-lactone moiety, together with a new pseudoguaianelactone C (3) were isolated from the roots of Lindera glauca. Pseudoguaianelactones A–C (1–3) inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production, with IC50 values ranging from 1.38 to 4.00 μM. Moreover, all compounds significantly suppressed the production of pro-inflammatory mediators (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β and PGE2) and the protein expression of the enzymes iNOS and COX-2. Two modified TiO2 nanofluids were developed, with either hydrophobic or hydrophilic properties. The hydrophobic TiO2 nanofluid, embedded in an organo-silyl salt, could be transformed into a hydrophilic TiO2 nanofluid by exchange of the chloride with an organo-sulphonate ion. The first metal nitrate fluoride nonlinear optical material, Pb2(NO3)2(H2O)F2, was synthesized with the largest second harmonic generation (SHG) effect (12 × KH2PO4) among nitrates. Theoretical calculations revealed the synergistic effect of [NO3]−, lone pair electrons in Pb2+, and F− for the SHG effect. The F− also promoted the blue-shift of the ultraviolet cut-off edge.
