Characteristic features of safety-factor distribution and possibilities of refinement of designs and methods of analyzing shell elements of production equipment are investigated. A climbing-film evaporator is the subject of investigation. The distribution of safety factors (SF) is indicated for design elements of the climbing-film evaporator. The dependence of SF on the dimensions of a defect at its characteristic points is noted. The need for differentiation of SF is pointed out not only with respect to limiting states, but also the character and extent of damage sustained by the material of the structure, and also analysis of the stress-strain state of vessels and units with allowance for the effect of openings with pipes, pipelines, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article focuses on the automated analysis of rapid compaction of disperse media by the multimedia method. Percussive action is a promising trend for improvement of the compaction of disperse media and reduction of economic outlays for organization of the mass production of molded products formed from chemical materials. A theoretical model of the rapid compaction of disperse media is currently under development. The MIC-400D measurement-computational complex is, in essence, a computer that operates on control programs, one of which, Magnitograf program, is designed to control the MIC-400D systems. The software developed makes it possible to adjust the operating conditions of the measurement modules, select the number and types of measurement channels, scan measurement signals in real time, and process them in different representations.

The advantages and range of application of a homogenizer are indicated. The schematic structural-layout diagram of a homogenizer that ensures continuity of the production process is presented. The article states that in recent years, increasing demand for fine separation of aggressive and high-temperature liquid media (especially aggressive waste water) has dictated the need to develop a new generation of filtration equipment. Processes of cross-flow micro- and ultra-filtration, that is, processes of membrane separation of solutions and suspensions under pressure with simultaneous movement of the liquid being separated along the surface of the membrane filtering element, have come into increasingly broader use for solution of these problems.

The article states that the separation of suspensions is a production process that has come into widespread use in many branches of industry. The equipment used for this process should therefore be effective and highly productive, reliable, and long-lived. Self-regenerating filters consisting of cylindrical housing 4 with cylindrical filtering element 3 mounted coaxially within the housing are classed with this type of equipment. It was established from the processing of the experimental data obtained that the tangential velocity component of the liquid flow in the filter remains virtually unchanged over the height and radius of the separation zone.

It is shown that the efficiency of cyclones is determined to a significant degree by the hydraulic resistance coefficient ζ whose effect on cyclone operation is twofold. Therefore, the choice of cyclone construction for a specific production process is determined by the value of ζ for given equipment. Experimental and published data are summarized.
