Abstract: The article offers information regarding conversion of carbon dioxide into bulk chemicals at lower energy cost. It discusses the activity of amine functionalized metal-organic frameworks. It presents the use of epoxide and carbon dioxide for the catalytic synthesis of cyclic carbonates. It investigates the various reaction involved which includes adsorption of carbon dioxide, acid-base-pair catalysis and the nucleophilic attack of the activated species.
