Abstract

Studies were conducted to show that Ubp6, one of the enzymes found in yeast proteasomes affects the degradation of a physiological substrate of the proteasome. The findings report that Ubp6 delays the break-down of proteins by the proteasome and that a major component of its inhibitory effect is noncatalytic in nature.
