Simple Summary: Pelvic radiotherapy is used to treat a range of cancers. Radiotherapy can damage surrounding, non-cancerous tissue and organs, causing long-term problems, including bowel symptoms such as bleeding, pain, and incontinence. The provision of support and treatment for those affected as well as shared decision making regarding treatment should be informed by a solid understanding of the prevalence, nature, and severity of symptoms. We conducted a systematic review of population-based studies presenting patient-reported bowel symptoms to synthesize evidence on symptom prevalence and severity following pelvic radiotherapy. Multiple different bowel symptoms have been reported, and prevalence varies from 1% (bleeding) to 59% (anal bleeding for >12 months). We found substantial variation in the reported methods and few data pertaining to cancers other than prostate. Our review supports the view that bowel symptoms are a significant problem following pelvic radiotherapy and highlights limitations of the evidence base that should be addressed in future research. Following independent screening of titles, abstracts, and full-texts, population and study characteristics and symptom findings were extracted, and narrative synthesis was conducted. In total, 45 papers (prostate, n = 39; gynecological, n = 6) reporting 19 datasets were included. Studies were methodologically heterogeneous. Most frequently assessed was bowel function ('score', 26 papers, 'bother', 19 papers). Also assessed was urgency, diarrhea, bleeding, incontinence, abdominal pain, painful hemorrhoids, rectal wetness, constipation, mucous discharge, frequency, and gas. Prevalence ranged from 1% (bleeding) to 59% (anal bleeding for >12 months at any time since start of treatment). In total, 10 papers compared radiotherapy with non-cancer comparators and 24 with non-radiotherapy cancer patient groups. Symptom prevalence/severity was greater/worse in radiotherapy groups and symptoms more common/worse post-radiotherapy than pre-diagnosis/treatment. Symptom prevalence varied between studies and symptoms. This review confirms that many people experience chronic bowel symptoms following pelvic radiotherapy. Simple Summary: Oral cancer affects the mouth and throat areas. It is a major cause of death for older people in developed countries. This review looked at how living in rural areas influences oral cancer trends in these countries. The studies from these countries showed increasing rates of oral cancer in rural areas of the US, Australia, Canada, and Europe. Older people are more affected by these cancers than younger groups. The main risk factors are tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and HPV infections. People in rural areas often do not know much about HPV-related cancers. They also tend to use more tobacco and alcohol than city dwellers. Even in developed countries, living in rural areas can lead to shorter lifespans for oral cancer patients. This is mainly because it is harder for them to access specialized cancer treatment centres and advanced medical care. Oral cancer is the general term used to describe cancers of the oral cavity and oropharyngeal region. These cancers are one of the leading causes of death in elderly residents within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries in the 21st century. This scoping review was carried out to assess the influence of rurality on oral cancer trends and patterns among OECD member countries. Four online databases (Medline, PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL) were searched for studies that reported on oral cancer trends in rural and remote areas in OECD member countries. A total of 1143 articles were obtained initially; among them, 995 papers were screened to include 18 articles for this scoping review. Studies have reported increasing incidence and prevalence in the United States, Australia, Canada, and European countries wherein risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol, and human papilloma virus (HPV) infections were associated with oral and oropharyngeal cancers. Awareness among people living in rural areas about HPV-related cancers was very low, while rates of tobacco and alcohol abuse were noted to be rising more rapidly than among their urban counterparts. Furthermore, the ageing population was most affected compared to the younger age groups of people with oral and oropharyngeal cancer that are prevalent in these regions. Overall, despite living in developed countries, rurality was noted to be a significant factor in the lower life expectancy of oral cancer patients, mainly due to the limited accessibility to tertiary cancer care centres and advanced medical care. Simple Summary: Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is used to target microscopic peritoneal disease which can remain after visible disease has been surgically removed. It is used in the management of multiple adult cancer types, yet its use in the pediatric population is limited. This review paper provides an overview of the use of this modality in pediatrics in order to identify chemotherapy choice, document reported post-operative morbidity and mortality, and evaluate impact on overall survival. The use of HIPEC, most commonly with cisplatin, is generally tolerable with short-term post-operative complications and no reported post-operative mortality, yet the impact on overall survival versus systemic chemotherapy and debulking surgery is uncertain due to lack of clinical trials and small sample size. Continued gathering of outcome data of pediatric patients treated with HIPEC will aid the rational and safe application of HIPEC to pediatric peritoneal malignancies. Malignancies treated include desmoplastic small round cell tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, angiosarcoma, colorectal carcinoma, and mesothelioma, with several rarer tumor types. Cisplatin was the most commonly used drug for HIPEC at varying concentrations for 30–90 min in duration at temperatures of approximately 41–42 °C. Reported toxicities were generally self-limited and there was no post-operative mortality. The impact on overall survival versus systemic chemotherapy and debulking surgery is uncertain due to lack of clinical trials and very small sample size across tumor subsets and the overall pediatric population. The relationship between degree of tumor burden and extent of surgical debulking needs to be further clarified. Future directions include prospective clinical trials, establishment of patient databases to facilitate standardization of HIPEC in pediatric patients, and additional approaches to optimize HIPEC. Simple Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) stands as a primary malignancy of the liver and represents a significant global health burden, particularly in regions where chronic hepatitis B and C infections prevail. Despite advancements in diagnostic techniques and therapeutic strategies, HCC continues to pose formidable challenges in clinical management due to its aggressive nature, frequent late-stage diagnosis, and metastasis to other organs. Although the incidence of metastasis to the diaphragm is low, this condition is one of few poor prognostic factors for HCC, making the early detection of diaphragm muscle involvement important in both primary and recurrent stages. The purpose of our study was to address two questions: (1) What symptoms or symptom clusters are reported among HCC patients with metastases to the diaphragm? (2) What risk factors for diaphragm muscle metastasis are present in HCC patients? Based on our findings, we conclude that the presence of hepatitis B and the localization of HCC cells in superior liver segments, particularly in the 8th liver segment, should be considered during the diagnostic process. The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of case reports presenting HCC spread to the diaphragm muscle and to determine possible risk factors for this condition. An extensive literature search was performed using the following electronic databases: MEDLINE, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and DOAJ. A total of 18 articles describing 27 hepatocellular carcinoma patients were included in this review. The presence of HCC cells in the superior liver segment is strongly associated with metastases to the diaphragm. Among the two types of diaphragm involvement by HCC cells, diaphragm infiltration occurs much more frequently than diaphragm adhesion. However, an HCC nodule in the 8th liver segment and a higher number of liver segments involved by HCC cells predispose patients to diaphragm adhesion. Hepatitis B is a risk factor for diaphragm metastases in recurrent HCC. The tumor diameter is not associated with HCC spread to the diaphragm muscle. We did not find specific symptoms reported by patients that could indicate HCC metastasis to the diaphragm muscle. Simple Summary: Testicular cancer is a prevalent malignancy in young men aged 15 to 35 years. Sonoelastography is an emerging technique for distinguishing between non-neoplasms, benignities, and malignancies by characterizing the tissue stiffness of testes. This review provides a summary of studies on the diagnostic accuracy of sonoelastography for identifying benign and malignant lesions, as well as tumors and non-tumors. The objective of this review was to summarize the applications of sonoelastography in testicular tumor identification and inquire about their test performances. Two authors independently searched English journal articles and full conference papers from CINAHL, Embase, IEEE Xplore®, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science from inception and organized them into a PIRO (patient, index test, reference test, outcome) framework. Eleven studies (n = 11) were eligible for data synthesis, nine of which (n = 9) utilized strain elastography and two (n = 2) employed shear-wave elastography. Meta-analyses were performed on the distinction between neoplasm (tumor) and non-neoplasm (non-tumor) from four study arms and between malignancy and benignity from seven study arms. The pooled sensitivity of classifying malignancy and benignity was 86.0% (95%CI, 79.7% to 90.6%). There was substantial heterogeneity in the classification of neoplasm and non-neoplasm and in the specificity of classifying malignancy and benignity, which could not be addressed by the subgroup analysis of sonoelastography techniques. Heterogeneity might be associated with the high risk of bias and applicability concern, including a wide spectrum of testicular pathologies and verification bias in the reference tests. Key technical obstacles in the index test were manual compression in strain elastography, qualitative observation of non-standardized color codes, and locating the Regions of Interest (ROI), in addition to decisions in feature extractions. Future research may focus on multiparametric sonoelastography using deep learning models and ensemble learning. Simple Summary: This is a systematic and meta-analysis of proportions study that investigated the distribution of head and neck cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma between men and women. Males were disproportionally affected by HNcSCC overall, and this was most evident in the ear subtype, while this disparity was less obvious for the eyelid subtype. The incidence of head and neck cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (HNcSCC) is unevenly distributed between men and women. At present, the mechanism behind this disparity remains elusive. This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of proportions to investigate the disparity between sexes for patients with HNcSCC. PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Emcare and CINAHL were searched in November 2021 and June 2022 (N > 50, English, human), and studies which examined the association between sex and HNcSCC were included. Analysis was conducted using RStudio with data and forest plots displaying males as a proportion of total patients with HNcSCC. Two independent researchers performed study selection, data extraction, data analysis and risk of bias. Eighty-two studies (1948 to 2018) comprising approximately 186,000 participants (67% male, 33% female) from 29 countries were included. Significantly more males had HNcSCC overall (71%; CI: 67–74). Males were also significantly more affected by cSCC of the ear (92%; CI: 89–94), lip (74%; CI: 66–81), and eyelid (56%; CI: 51–62). This study found HNcSCC disproportionately affected males overall and across all subtypes. Simple Summary: Ovarian cancer and its treatment are associated with energy balance-related problems, such as overweight, malnourishment, compromised muscle mass and quality, and physical inactivity. This may impact the quality of life and treatment outcome. These factors may be modifiable, and women with ovarian cancer have indicated that they want to do something themselves to help improve their treatment outcome. In order to better understand the role of energy-balance-related problems in patients treated for ovarian cancer, this study synthesized the available research on (i) the association of body weight, body composition, diet, and physical activity or exercise with survival or treatment-related complications and (ii) the evidence from exercise- and/or dietary interventions. The results indicate that body mass index has a limited prognostic value, while other measures of body composition may have more prognostic potential. Additionally, the findings provide important leads for future research directions. Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesized evidence in patients with ovarian cancer at diagnosis and/or during first-line treatment on; (i) the association of body weight, body composition, diet, exercise, sedentary behavior, or physical fitness with clinical outcomes; and (ii) the effect of exercise and/or dietary interventions. Methods: Risk of bias assessments and best-evidence syntheses were completed. Meta-analyses were performed when ≥3 papers presented point estimates and variability measures of associations or effects. Results: Body mass index (BMI) at diagnosis was not significantly associated with survival. Although the following trends were not supported by the best-evidence syntheses, the meta-analyses revealed that a higher BMI was associated with a higher risk of post-surgical complications (n = 5, HR: 1.63, 95% CI: 1.06–2.51, p = 0.030), a higher muscle mass was associated with a better progression-free survival (n = 3, HR: 1.41, 95% CI: 1.04–1.91, p = 0.030) and a higher muscle density was associated with a better overall survival (n = 3, HR: 2.12, 95% CI: 1.62–2.79, p < 0.001). Muscle measures were not significantly associated with surgical or chemotherapy-related outcomes. Conclusions: The prognostic value of baseline BMI for clinical outcomes is limited, but muscle mass and density may have more prognostic potential. High-quality studies with comprehensive reporting of results are required to improve our understanding of the prognostic value of body composition measures for clinical outcomes. Simple Summary: HPV-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) is unique amongst oropharyngeal cancers in its high responsiveness to treatment and its lower mortality rate. As a result, numerous clinical trials have been conducted to identify treatment modalities and protocols. In order for these trials to have meaningful impact on HPV-associated OPSCC patients, proper demographic representation by trial participants is essential. The aim of our systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the demographics of trial participants for HPV-associated OPSCC clinical trials and compare them with those reported by national databases. We determined that clinical-trial participants were predominately non-smoking white men, with tonsils as the primary tumor site. These findings reflect the demographics reported by the National Cancer Database. Our results imply that HPV-associated OPSCC clinical trials appropriately represent the target population and offer immense benefit. The objective of our paper was to answer the following question: how do patients with HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma OPSCC (Population) enrolled in clinical trials (Intervention), compared with national database reports of HPV-associated OPSCC patients (Comparison), present demographically (Outcome)? We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies pertaining to clinical trials of HPV-associated OPSCC and participant demographics in the United States. PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library were searched from inception to 2 February 2022. Studies of overlapping participant cohorts and/or studies conducted outside of the United States were excluded. Primary outcomes were patient age, sex, and race. Secondary outcomes were smoking history, alcohol history, history of prior cancer, and tumor origin site. Meta-analysis of single means (mean, N for each study, and standard deviation) for age, pack years, and smoking years was performed. Pooled prevalence rates of gender, race, alcohol history, tobacco history, and tumor origin site were expressed as a percentage, with 95% confidence intervals. Meta-analysis found patients to be predominately non-smoking white males, with tumors originating from the tonsil. Our findings reflected the demographics reported by the National Cancer Database (NCDB) for HPV-associated OPSCC. Simple Summary: The demand for traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM), perceived as natural and safe, among cancer patients has been steadily increasing. However, this trend raises concerns about the potential risks of using these therapies concurrently with conventional treatments and whether patients are fully adhering to their prescribed treatments. In Asia, T&CM is particularly common due to cultural and historical influences. This systematic review and meta-analysis is the first study to investigate the prevalence of T&CM use among cancer patients in Asia, how often they disclose this use to their physicians, and the factors influencing their choices. Understanding these aspects may enhance communication between patients and physicians, ultimately leading to safer and more effective cancer care. Globally, cancer patients frequently use T&CM during their treatment for various reasons. The primary concerns regarding the use of T&CM among cancer patients are the potential risks associated with interactions between pharmaceuticals and T&CM, as well as the risk of noncompliance with conventional cancer treatments. Despite the higher prevalence of T&CM use in Asia, driven by cultural, historical, and resource-related factors, no prior review has tried to estimate the prevalence and influencing factors of T&CM use and disclosure among cancer patients in this region. This study aims to examine the prevalence and disclosure rates of T&CM use among cancer patients in Asia to assess various factors influencing its use across different cancer treatment settings in Asia. Systematic research on T&CM use was conducted using four databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and CINAHAL) from inception to January 2023. Quality was assessed using the Appraisal Tool for Cross-Sectional Studies (AXIS). A random effects model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of T&CM use, and data analysis was performed using Stata Version 16.0. Among the 4849 records retrieved, 41 eligible studies conducted in 14 Asian countries were included, involving a total of 14,976 participants. The pooled prevalence of T&CM use was 49.3%, ranging from 24.0% to 94.8%, and the disclosure rate of T&CM use was 38.2% (11.9% to 82.5%). The most commonly used T&CM modalities were herbal medicines and traditional medicine. Females were 22.0% more likely to use T&CM than males. A subgroup analysis revealed the highest prevalence of T&CM use was found in studies conducted in East Asia (62.4%) and those covered by both national and private insurance (55.8%). The disclosure rate of T&CM use to physicians remains low. Moreover, the factors influencing this disclosure are still insufficiently explored. Since the disclosure of T&CM use is a crucial indicator of patient safety and the quality of cancer treatment prognosis, future research should focus on identifying the determinants of non-disclosure. Simple Summary: Chemotoxicity in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients impacts treatment compliance, survival, and quality of life. While clinician-reported chemotoxicity predicts rehospitalization and survival, a comprehensive understanding is lacking. This systematic review and meta-analysis studied chemotoxicity in CRC patients. The study found that 45.7% of patients experienced overall moderate-to-severe toxicities, with gastrointestinal toxicity (22.9%) and neuropathy or neutropenia (17.9%) being the most common. Risk factors included malnutrition, frailty, impaired immune or hepato-renal functions, short telomere lengths, low gut lactobacillus levels, age, female sex, aggressive chemotherapy, and low quality of life. Age was linked to neutropenia and gastrointestinal toxicity. Older adults had higher overall and gastrointestinal toxicities but lower neutropenia than younger adults. The study underscores the need for close monitoring and management of chemotoxicity in CRC patients. Community contributions have been instrumental in raising awareness about these issues, advocating for patient support, and future research to improve treatment toxicities in CRC. Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) patients experience multiple types of chemotoxicity affecting treatment compliance, survival, and quality of life (QOL). Prior research shows clinician-reported chemotoxicity (i.e., grading scales or diagnostic codes) predicts rehospitalization and cancer survival. However, a comprehensive synthesis of clinician-reported chemotoxicity is still lacking. Objectives: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine chemotoxicity's prevalence and risk factors in CRC. Methods: A systematic search from 2009 to 2024 yielded 30 studies for review, with 25 included in the meta-analysis. Results: Pooled prevalences of overall, non-hematological, and hematological moderate-to-severe toxicities were 45.7%, 39.2%, and 25.3%, respectively. The most common clinician-reported chemotoxicities were gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity (22.9%) and neuropathy or neutropenia (17.9%). Significant risk factors at baseline were malnutritional status, frailty, impaired immune or hepato-renal functions, short telomere lengths, low gut lactobacillus levels, age, female sex, aggressive chemotherapy, and low QOL. Age was associated with neutropenia (β: −1.44) and GI toxicity (β:1.85) (p-values < 0.01). Older adults (>65 y.o.) had higher prevalences of overall (OR: 1.14) and GI (OR: 1.65) toxicities, but a lower prevalence of neutropenia (OR: 0.65) than younger adults (p-values < 0.05). Conclusions. Simple Summary: Implementing educational programs for patients and their caregivers has been suggested as an effective method to help alleviate pain associated with cancer. The purpose of this study was to compile and review the current pain education interventions for cancer patients and their caregivers using a standardized methodological approach, and to evaluate the impact of these interventions on pain. These findings are significant for healthcare professionals as they provide a foundation for motivating cancer patients to engage actively in their treatment. Implementing these results could save time and resources for healthcare providers, thereby enhancing the quality of treatments. Introduction: Cancer-related pain is a global health-related problem associated with functional impairment, anxiety, depression, and reduced quality of life. The use of educational interventions for patients and their caregivers has been proposed as a promising tool for overcoming pain in cancer. The aim of this study was to summarize by means of a standardized methodological systematic revision the actual pain education intervention used in cancer patients and their caregivers and to analyze its effects on pain. Methods: A search was conducted through PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Cinhal from their inception to September 2022. Randomized controlled trials which included pain education interventions were identified. Two reviewers performed independent data extraction and methodologic quality assessments of these studies. Results: A total of seven studies was included in the study. The meta-analysis showed that pain education interventions have a significant effect on the worst pain; however, there was no effect on average pain. Conclusions: Pain education interventions addressed to patients and their caregivers could have positive effects on cancer-related pain. It is recommended that a minimum of three sessions of about one hour's duration be held once a week. Further research needs to be carried out and analyzed on the effects over the long term. Pain education interventions show positive results in improving pain in cancer patients regardless of etiology or extent of the cancer. Simple Summary: Digital health technologies can help manage the growing cancer burden, but understanding patients' needs is crucial for these tools to be effective. Our study reviewed existing research on what cancer patients want from digital health technologies. We analysed 128 studies, focusing on web-based platforms, mobile apps, and wearable devices used in cancer care. Patients highlighted the importance of these technologies being easy to use, effective in managing their care, and enhancing communication with healthcare providers. Our findings offer insights for future research to develop digital health tools that meet cancer patients' preferences, potentially improving their healthcare experience and outcomes. Digital health technologies have the potential to alleviate the increasing cancer burden. Incorporating patients' perspectives on digital health tools has been identified as a critical determinant for their successful uptake in cancer care. The main objective of this scoping review was to provide an overview of the existing evidence on cancer patients' perspectives and requirements for patient-facing digital health technologies. Three databases (CINAHL, MEDLINE, Science Direct) were searched and 128 studies were identified as eligible for inclusion. Web-based software/platforms, mobile or smartphone devices/applications, and remote sensing/wearable technologies employed for the delivery of interventions and patient monitoring were the most frequently employed technologies in cancer care. The abilities of digital tools to enable care management, user-friendliness, and facilitate patient–clinician interactions were the technological requirements predominantly considered as important by cancer patients. The findings from this review provide evidence that could inform future research on technology-associated parameters influencing cancer patients' decisions regarding the uptake and adoption of patient-facing digital health technologies. Simple Summary: Family communication in the cancer context has gained attention as a crucial factor related to the quality of life of children and adolescents. The aim of this review was to examine therapeutic parent–child communication and its impact on health outcomes in children and adolescents with cancer. This review identified an emerging body of evidence that therapeutic parent–child communication contributes to better psychological health outcomes at both the individual and family levels in the childhood cancer context. A comprehensive understanding of the impact of family communication may provide knowledge for developing interventions to improve family communication and health outcomes. Family communication has been thought to be an important area to support children's adjustment to a cancer diagnosis. However, the characteristics of therapeutic parent–child communication that contribute to better patient outcomes and the specific patient health outcomes have been less explored. This current review explored the characteristics of therapeutic parent–child communication and its physical and psychological health outcomes. A total of 5034 articles were initially identified, and only 10 articles remained for inclusion in this review after application of the exclusion criteria. Most studies used a cross-sectional design and measured verbal communication characteristics and its psychological outcomes, but no physical outcomes. The characteristics of therapeutic verbal communication (openness, maternal validation, quality of information shared, etc.) and nonverbal communication (eye contact, close physical distance, and acknowledging behaviors) were identified. The psychological health outcomes included less distress, a lower level of PTSS, less internalizing and externalizing of symptoms, increased levels of social emotional competencies, better peer relationships, and more cooperation during the procedure at the individual level. Increased family cohesion and family adaptation were family-level outcomes. Longitudinal studies are needed to identify what qualities of communication predict better psychological outcomes so that interventions can be developed and tested. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a non-invasive technology that has the potential to aid clinicians in the early diagnosis of skin cancers, including melanoma. Performance metrics of machine-based AI have been shown to rival or improve upon clinician diagnosis. However, many studies have limited this scope to pre-build image databases that may not replicate real-world settings experienced in general practice. This systematic review aimed to report the performance of commercial or market-approved dermatoscopic systems with AI in the form of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) when tasked with classifying melanoma. The sensitivity and specificity of CNNs are highly varied and illustrate the necessity of clinician-to-patient interaction in the diagnosis process. Advancing technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), may provide an additional tool for clinicians to help detect malignancies with a more accurate success rate. This systematic review aimed to report the performance metrics of commercially available convolutional neural networks (CNNs) tasked with detecting MM. Methods: A systematic literature search was performed using CINAHL, Medline, Scopus, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases. Results: A total of 16 articles reporting MM were included in this review. The combined number of melanomas detected was 1160, and non-melanoma lesions were 33,010. The performance of market-approved technology and clinician performance for classifying melanoma was highly heterogeneous, with sensitivity ranging from 16.4 to 100.0%, specificity between 40.0 and 98.3% and accuracy between 44.0 and 92.0%. Less heterogeneity was observed when clinicians worked in unison with AI, with sensitivity ranging between 83.3 and 100.0%, specificity between 83.7 and 87.3%, and accuracy between 86.4 and 86.9%. Conclusion: Instead of focusing on the performance of AI versus clinicians for classifying melanoma, more consistent performance has been obtained when clinicians' work is supported by AI, facilitating management decisions and improving health outcomes. Purpose: in this scoping review, previously reported data were described and synthesized to document transition interventions in CCSs, and the features of intervention components of the current transition studies for CCSs were summarized. All original studies (n = 9) investigating transition interventions in CCSs were included. Results: The current studies identified essential elements for transition programs, such as delivering knowledge, developing skills for coordination of care, and addressing psychosocial needs. However, the current transition interventions were generally in their infancy, and major deficits were found, including poorly reported intervention components and procedures, a limited number of relevant validated outcomes, and a failure to incorporate conceptual frameworks and international consensus statements. Conclusions: This scoping review mapped current evidence of transition interventions for CCSs and highlighted the paucity of data in this area. Methods: A standardised data extraction form was devised in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis, with specific criteria implemented for selecting studies with low to moderate risk of bias. Results: Five studies involving different methodologies were selected at the conclusion of the search strategy. The statistical analysis revealed an estimated odds ratio (OR) of 0.31 and relative risk (RR) of 0.48, indicating a statistically significant association between the use of radiotherapy and anti-neoplastic drugs and a noticeable reduction in the successful completion of orthodontic treatment. The heterogeneity analysis showed significant heterogeneity among the studies. Conclusions: This review emphasises that, although orthodontic therapies can still be beneficial for children receiving chemotherapy, the effectiveness of the therapy may be diminished in older populations. Simple Summary: Common central venous access devices (CVADs) include peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), central lines, and totally implanted ports (PORTs). Studies have shown PORTs have the least catheter-related complications, while PICCs are associated with the highest risk. The delivery of systemic anticancer therapy is known to be a risk factor in CVAD-related complications. Little is known about the complication profile of each CVAD when it is used for purely palliative intent without systemic anticancer therapy. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate the complication rates of different types of CVADs used in palliative care settings. The use of central lines in terminally ill cancer patients was found to have fewer complications than PICCs in terms of overall complications, catheter-related bloodstream infection, and thromboembolism. No conclusion can be made on PORTs due to a lack of publications. As there are currently no clinical guidelines regarding the choice of CVAD in terminally ill cancer patients, our study summarizes the current available evidence to provide a basis for further studies on this important issue. (1) Background: Central venous access devices (CVADs) have been commonly employed during various courses of anticancer treatment. Currently, there are a few types of clinically available CVADs, which are associated with short-term and long-term complications. However, little is known about the complication rates when CVADs are used only in palliative care settings. We therefore performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of all the published literature to evaluate the complication rates of CVADs in this clinical setting. (2) Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to identify publications from PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase (Ovid), Scopus, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Google Scholar, and trial registries. Publications reporting the complication rates of PICCs, central lines, and PORTs in palliative settings for terminally ill cancer patients were included, while those on the use of systemic anticancer therapy and peripheral venous catheters were excluded. The outcome measures included overall complication rate, rate of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI), and rate of thromboembolism (TE). This systematic review was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023404489). (3) Results: Five publications with 327 patients were analyzed, including four studies on PICCs and one study on central lines. No studies on PORTs were eligible for analysis. The overall complication rate for PICCs (pooled estimate 7.02%, 95% CI 0.27–19.10) was higher than that for central lines (1.44%, 95% CI 0.30–4.14, p = 0.002). The risk of CRBSI with PICCs (2.03%, 95% CI 0.00–9.62) was also higher than that with central lines (0.96%, 95% CI 0.12–3.41, p = 0.046). PICCs also had a trend of a higher risk of TE (2.10%, 95% CI 0.00–12.22) compared to central lines (0.48%, 95% CI 0.01–2.64, p = 0.061). (4) Conclusions: PICCs for palliative cancer care were found to have greater complications than central lines. Simple Summary: Adult cancer patients and survivors often experience social integration and connectedness chal-lenges. This systematic review summarizes the effect of social integration or social connectedness interventions among young- and middle-aged cancer patients and survivors based on 28 empirical studies published between 2000 and 2021. We found that social integration interventions that utilize technology- and/or non-technology-based platforms show improved social outcomes, increased awareness about available cancer-related resources, decreased perceived isolation, increased knowledge and access to cancer survivorship resources, and improved patient-reported outcomes among cancer individuals versus the comparison individuals. We recommend utilizing suitable platforms, whether technological or non-technological, to facilitate connections between cancer patients/survivors with friends, fellow cancer patients, or society members. This will enable pa-tients/survivors to access essential resources and support, thus enhancing their ability to cope with challenging life situations and ultimately improving social well-being and health outcomes. Background: The majority of adult cancer patients/survivors encounter social challenges (e.g., obtaining social support, maintaining social relationships, feelings of social isolation). This systematic review summarizes intervention studies addressing social integration or social connectedness issues among young- and middle-aged cancer patients/survivors. Methods: We searched the PubMed, CINAHL, and Web of Science databases (January 2000–May 2021) to identify intervention studies that addressed social integration, social connectedness, social support, and social isolation for cancer patients/survivors in young- and middle-aged adulthood (18–64.9 years) through a randomized controlled trial (RCT). We categorized the interventions as technology-based, non-technology-based, and mixed-type (technology- and non-technology-based). Results: A total of 28 studies were identified. These interventions demonstrated improved social outcomes (e.g., increased social support, decreased loneliness), increased awareness of available cancer-related resources, and better patient-reported outcomes among patients/survivors versus controls. Specifically, the use of internet-based discussion sessions was associated with improved social cohesion and social support. Receiving social support from peers through networking sites was associated with improved physical activity. Additionally, implementing mixed-type interventions led to better social support from peer survivors, less fear of social interactions, and improved social connectedness. Conclusions: Using existing technology- and/or non-technology-based platforms to facilitate social connectedness among cancer patients/survivors in young- or middle-aged adulthood can help them cope with stressful life circumstances and improve quality-of-life. They are often not measured routinely for patients who are receiving palliative care. This review highlights that measuring vital signs for patients with cancer who are receiving palliative care may be of some benefit in determining prognosis, but further studies are needed to clarify the extent of association between a patient's vital signs and prognosis. Vital signs are routinely measured in secondary healthcare settings and can be used to detect clinical problems, guide treatment, and monitor response to treatment. Vital signs are less frequently measured in palliative care settings. Reasons for this are unclear. This scoping review aimed to assess the generic use of vital signs in palliative care, and its role in prognostication for adult patients with cancer receiving palliative care. Medline, Embase, and CINAHL were searched for articles involving adult patients with advanced cancer receiving palliative care who had their vital signs measured. Twenty-six articles were identified in which one or a combination of vital signs, with or without other clinical parameters, was used to prognosticate for patients. An additional three articles investigated the generic use of vital signs in patients with advanced cancer. There was significant heterogeneity between identified studies, with some indication that changes in vital signs may indicate that a patient is close to death. However, other studies suggested that patients may maintain normal vital signs until the time of death. Currently, research on the preferences of patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) regarding their care has not been summarized. Our review aims to summarize all research reporting on the specific preferences of patients with MBC regarding their care to identify important areas for future research. The main finding of the current review is that to-date studies evaluating preferences among patients with MBC are mixed. Most studies on MBC patient preferences have focused on capturing preferences directly relating to cancer treatments. More information on patient preferences for other aspects of MBC care, including supportive care therapies and services that target physical, mental, and emotional quality of life, is needed. People with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have diverse medical, physical, and psychosocial needs that require multidimensional care. Understanding patient preferences is crucial to tailor treatments, services, and foster patient-centered care. A scoping review was performed to summarize the current evidence on the preferences of people with MBC regarding their care to identify knowledge gaps and key areas for future research. The Embase, MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycInfo databases were searched. Twenty studies enrolling 3354 patients met the study eligibility criteria. Thirteen quantitative studies, four mixed methods studies, and three qualitative studies were included. Seven studies captured healthcare provider perspectives; thirteen studies evaluated patient preferences relating specifically to cancer treatments; three studies evaluated preferences relating to supportive care; and four studies evaluated communication and decision-making preferences. The current literature evaluating MBC patient preferences is heterogeneous with a focus on cancer treatments. Future research should explore patient preferences relating to multidisciplinary, multi-modal care that aims to improve quality of life. Simple Summary: A comprehensive understanding of risk factors associated with experiencing subjective financial distress is needed to inform the development of valid instruments and effective interventions to tackle financial toxicity. Several studies from the US indicate a strong correlation of the US-healthcare system's systematic organisation and its particular socioeconomic risk factors for cancer patients experiencing financial toxicity. It is assumed that risk factors differ in other high-income countries due to the different structure of universal healthcare coverage. As an exhaustive analysis for other countries is lacking, this review aims to identify risk factors for subjective financial distress in universal healthcare systems. Financial toxicity is a side effect of cancer that results from the perceived financial distress an individual may experience in the course of the disease. The purpose of this paper is to analyse underlying factors related to subjective financial distress in high-income countries with universal healthcare coverage. A systematic literature review was conducted to identify qualitative and quantitative studies of cancer patient-reported subjective financial distress by performing a search in the databases of PubMed, PsycINFO and CINAHL up to December 2020. A qualitative synthesis was performed linking the time-dependent occurrence of risk factors to derived categories of risk factors. Out of 4321 identified records, 30 quantitative and 16 qualitative studies were eligible. Classification of risk factors resulted in eight categories with a total of 34 subcategories. Subjective financial distress is primarily determined by pre-diagnosis sociodemographic- factors as well as financial and work factors that might change during the course of the disease. The design of healthcare and social security systems shapes the country-specific degree of subjective financial distress. Further research should focus on evolving multidisciplinary intervention schemes and multidimensional instruments for subjective financial distress to account for identified risk factors in universal healthcare systems more precisely. Simple Summary: This meta-analysis examined the effect of general anesthetics on metastasis and recurrence after cancer surgery from clinical and pre-clinical studies. It showed that propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia is associated with lower risk of metastasis/recurrence and lower IL-6 level than inhalational anesthesia. Pre-clinical studies confirmed clinical observation and explored potential mechanisms. Metastasis or recurrence following curative surgery is the main indicator of tumor progress and is the main cause of patient death. For more than three decades, the potential for general anesthesia to affect cancer outcomes has been a subject of concern with considerable research interest. Here, we conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the effect of inhalational anesthesia (IHNA) vs. propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) on metastasis and recurrence after cancer surgery from clinical and pre-clinical studies. The relative risk for metastasis/recurrence in TIVA is 0.61 (95% confidence interval (95% CI) 0.46 to 0.82, p = 0.0009) compared to IHNA. Inflammatory cytokines have been implicated in cancer metastasis following cancer surgery, thus we analyzed inflammatory cytokines levels after surgery under IHNA or TIVA. Based on pooled analysis, a lower IL-6 level was noticed in TIVA in comparison to IHNA (standardized mean difference (SMD) = 0.77, 95% CI = 0.097 to 1.44, I2 = 92%, p = 0.02) but not TNF-α or IL-10. Preclinical animal model studies show that inhalational anesthetics increase the risk of breast cancer metastasis compared to propofol. In conclusion, the current evidence suggests intravenous anesthetic propofol is associated with less metastasis/recurrence and lower postoperative IL-6 level over inhaled anesthetics in the oncological surgery. Simple Summary: Women with BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations are at increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer and often undergo operations to remove both their ovaries in order to prevent ovarian cancer. The impact of this operation on breast cancer risk is uncertain; thus, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine it. We found that this operation was not linked with a reduced risk of developing breast cancer when considering both BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers together but was linked with a reduced risk of breast cancer when considering BRCA2 carriers alone. If a woman had this operation after developing breast cancer, it was not related to a reduced chance of developing cancer in the other breast. However, it was associated with increased survival following breast cancer when considering BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers together and BRCA1 carriers alone. These findings may have important implications for counselling for women in the clinic. Background: Risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) is the gold standard method of ovarian cancer risk reduction, but the data are conflicting regarding the impact on breast cancer (BC) outcomes. This study aimed to quantify BC risk/mortality in BRCA1/BRCA2 carriers after RRSO. Methods: We conducted a systematic review (CRD42018077613) of BRCA1/BRCA2 carriers undergoing RRSO, with the outcomes including primary BC (PBC), contralateral BC (CBC) and BC-specific mortality (BCSM) using a fixed-effects meta-analysis, with subgroup analyses stratified by mutation and menopause status. Results: RRSO was not associated with a significant reduction in the PBC risk (RR = 0.84, 95%CI: 0.59–1.21) or CBC risk (RR = 0.95, 95%CI: 0.65–1.39) in BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers combined but was associated with reduced BC-specific mortality in BC-affected BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers combined (RR = 0.26, 95%CI: 0.18–0.39). Subgroup analyses showed that RRSO was not associated with a reduction in the PBC risk (RR = 0.89, 95%CI: 0.68–1.17) or CBC risk (RR = 0.85, 95%CI: 0.59–1.24) in BRCA1 carriers nor a reduction in the CBC risk in BRCA2 carriers (RR = 0.35, 95%CI: 0.07–1.74) but was associated with a reduction in the PBC risk in BRCA2 carriers (RR = 0.63, 95%CI: 0.41–0.97) and BCSM in BC-affected BRCA1 carriers (RR = 0.46, 95%CI: 0.30–0.70). The mean NNT = 20.6 RRSOs to prevent one PBC death in BRCA2 carriers, while 5.6 and 14.2 RRSOs may prevent one BC death in BC-affected BRCA1 and BRCA2 carriers combined and BRCA1 carriers, respectively. Simple Summary: "Scanxiety", or the distress and/or anxiety occurring before, during, and after cancer-related imaging/scans, is an upsetting experience during and following cancer. To better understand the nature of scanxiety, related research gaps and practices, and possible ways to help manage it, we conducted a review of the literature using a structured search process. We identified and synthesized findings from 36 articles on scanxiety among adults diagnosed with current or prior cancer. We found that scanxiety occurs across the cancer continuum. The articles also indicated that there are various components of the scan experience that prompt anxiety, such as those related to scan procedures and those related to the implications of important test results. The waiting period between the scan procedure and receipt of the results was described as particularly stressful. Our review also summarizes measures and methods used in scanxiety research. We discuss how the findings of this review may be used to inform future research directions and to generate approaches for helping people to manage scanxiety. Background: Scan-related anxiety ("scanxiety") is distressing to people living with and beyond cancer. We conducted a scoping review to promote conceptual clarity, identify research practices and gaps, and guide intervention strategies for adults with a current or prior cancer diagnosis. Methods: Following a systematic search, we screened 6820 titles and abstracts, evaluated 152 full-text articles, and selected 36 articles. Definitions, study designs, measurement methods, correlates, and consequences of scanxiety were extracted and summarized. Results: The reviewed articles included individuals living with current cancer (n = 17) and those in the post-treatment phase (n = 19), across a breadth of cancer types and disease stages. In five articles, authors explicitly defined scanxiety. Multiple components of scanxiety were described, including those related to scan procedures (e.g., claustrophobia, physical discomfort) and scan results (e.g., implications for disease status and treatment), suggesting varied intervention approaches may be needed. Twenty-two articles used quantitative methods, nine used qualitative methods, and five used mixed methods. In 17 articles, symptom measures specifically referenced cancer scans; 24 included general measures without reference to scans. Scanxiety tended to be higher among those with lower education levels, less time since diagnosis, and greater baseline anxiety levels (three articles each). Although scanxiety often decreased immediately pre- to post-scan (six articles), participants reported the waiting period between scan and results to be particularly stressful (six articles). Consequences of scanxiety included poorer quality of life and somatic symptoms. Scanxiety promoted follow-up care for some patients yet hindered it for others. Conclusions: Scanxiety is multi-faceted, heightened during the pre-scan and scan-to-results waiting periods, and associated with clinically meaningful outcomes. Therefore, this systematic review aims to analyze previously published studies on the effectiveness of VR for the management of pain and/or anxiety in children and adolescents with hematological or solid cancer. Medline, SCOPUS, Web of Science, ProQuest, CINAHL, and The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were used to search for relevant studies in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist. Randomized controlled trial, crossover trial, cluster randomized trial, and quasi-experimental studies were included. Thirteen studies, published between 1999 and 2022, that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included. Regarding the primary outcomes measured, pain was considered in five studies, anxiety in three studies, and the remaining five studies analyzed the effectiveness of VR for both pain and anxiety reduction. Our objective in this review was to summarize the applications and performance of machine-learning-based elastography on the classification of endocrine tumors. Two authors independently searched electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, IEEEXpress, CINAHL, and EMBASE. Eleven (n = 11) articles were eligible for the review, of which eight (n = 8) focused on thyroid tumors and three (n = 3) considered pancreatic tumors. In all thyroid studies, the researchers used shear-wave ultrasound elastography, whereas the pancreas researchers applied strain elastography with endoscopy. Traditional machine learning approaches or the deep feature extractors were used to extract the predetermined features, followed by classifiers. The applied deep learning approaches included the convolutional neural network (CNN) and multilayer perceptron (MLP). Some researchers considered the mixed or sequential training of B-mode and elastographic ultrasound data or fusing data from different image segmentation techniques in machine learning models. All reviewed methods achieved an accuracy of ≥80%, but only three were ≥90% accurate. Simple Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with peritoneal metastases (PM) have a poor prognosis. Currently, research has been ongoing to develop new treatment options for CRC patients with PM. DNA/RNA alterations identification in the primary tumor might help identify patients who are at high risk for developing PM postoperatively. These patients could benefit from preventive or early treatment. The aim of this systematic review is to create an overview of studies which analyzed genomic DNA and RNA expression alteration correlated to PM with the goal of identifying potentially predictive biomarkers. We included 32 studies investigating primary colorectal tumors of 18,906 patients. Only BRAF mutations were reported as significantly associated with PM in 10 of 17 studies. As no specific biomarkers in the primary tumors of CRC patients could have been identified, further research with comprehensive genomic profiling is still desirable. Simple Summary: In this study, the aim of conducting the network meta-analysis (NMA) was to explore the efficacy of different exercises and their respective ranks in the context of reducing cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in women with breast cancer (BC) during the inter-treatment and post-treatment periods. We found that yoga, resistance exercise, and aerobic resistance were the top three recommended exercise modes for the purposes of reducing CRF during the inter-treatment period among women with BC; moreover, Qigong ranked last in terms of efficacy. Yoga, aerobic yoga, and aerobic resistance were the top three exercise options that should be performed in order to relieve CRF during the post-treatment period; conversely, relaxation ranked last in this respect. Aerobic plus resistance, resistance exercise, and yoga were conducted via using a supervisor, as well as short-time sessions. Objective measures are recommended in order to examine the causal relationship of vigorous exercise or yoga on physical functions. This was performed in order to obtain clarity in respect to the optimal therapeutic management strategies that will best aid with the reduction in CRF among women with BC. Methods: Throughout this systematic review and network meta-analysis, articles published from 2000 to March 2022 were included. Article searches were conducted on the MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, and CENTRAL databases. Adult women with BC and different exercise programs were compared with those involved in regular care as a control during or after treatment. In addition, randomized controlled trials (RCT) were also included. A risk-of-bias assessment, with the revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool regarding RCT and probability-based ranking, was established based on the surface under the cumulative rank (SUCRA) method via network meta-analysis. Results: a total of 5747 women with BC followed seven exercise interventions. Yoga (SMD = −0.54, 95% CI [−0.86, −0.22]) was ranked first (94.5%), with significant effects in respect of mitigating CRF, followed by resistance exercise (66.2%), and aerobic resistance (63.3%), while Qigong ranked last (22.2%) among the 36 RCT in inter-treatment. Aerobic resistance exercise (SMD = −0.52, 95% CI [−0.98, −0.07]) induced significant effects in respect of mitigating CRF in the 38 RCTs in the post-treatment period. Yoga, aerobic yoga, and aerobic resistance exercise ranked as the top three (75.5%, 75.0%, and 72.4%, respectively), whereas relaxation ranked last (38.8%) in the post-treatment period. Conclusion: Yoga, aerobic resistance, and aerobic yoga are recommended for the purposes of inter- and post-treatment exercise to reduce CRF in women with BC by enhancing their physical resilience and long-term quality of life. Results: 32 eligible studies (4896 patients) were reviewed. For the overall meta-analysis, the random effect models yielded the treatment effect (95% CI) of −0.29 (−0.48,−0.09), p < 0.001. The meta-analysis did not show significant reduction of CRF with treatment with ginseng (n = 6), guarana (n = 3), megestrol (n = 2), mistletoe (n = 3), psychostimulants (n = 14), SSRI/antidepressants (n = 2). Corticosteroids (n = 2) showed significant reduction in CRF with treatment effects of 0.94 (−1.21, −0.67), p <0.0001, respectively. Conclusions: In this study, overall meta-analysis of all studies demonstrates significant reduction of CRF using Pharmacological, Nutraceutical and Phytopharmaceutical interventions with a pooled standardized treatment effect of −0.29. Simple Summary: An emerging group of advanced cancer patients are living long term on systemic treatment. However, studies examining the psychosocial impact of this prolonged cancer treatment trajectory are scarce. This scoping review summarizes findings on these psychosocial issues, as well as the terminology used to refer to these patients. Prominent psychosocial outcomes included uncertainty, anxiety, and fear of disease progression or death, hope, loss and worries about loved ones and changes in social life. These themes were not extensively investigated in research using validated psychological questionnaires. A large variety of terms used to refer to the patient group was observed, which calls for a uniform definition to better address this specific patient group in research and in practice. By identifying key themes and gaps in the literature, directions for future research and clinical practice can be provided. This scoping review aimed to answer the research question "What has been reported about psychosocial factors among patients living with advanced cancer receiving life-long systemic treatment?", by synthesizing psychosocial data, and evaluating the terminology used to address these patients; (2) Methods: This scoping review was conducted following the five stages of the framework of Arksey and O'Malley (2005); (3) Results: 141 articles published between 2000 and 2021 (69% after 2015) were included. A large variety of terms referring to the patient group was observed. Synthesizing qualitative studies identified ongoing uncertainty, anxiety and fear of disease progression or death, hope in treatment results and new treatment options, loss in several aspects of life, and worries about the impact of disease on loved ones and changes in social life to be prominent psychosocial themes. Of 82 quantitative studies included in the review, 76% examined quality of life, 46% fear of disease progression or death, 26% distress or depression, and 4% hope, while few studies reported on adaptation or cognitive aspects. No quantitative studies focused on uncertainty, loss, or social impact; (4) Conclusion and clinical implications: Prominent psychosocial themes reported in qualitative studies were not included in quantitative research using specific validated questionnaires. More robust studies using quantitative research designs should be conducted to further understand these psychological constructs. Simple Summary: Brain tumour survivors are often burdened by late sequelae, especially neurocognitive deficits, ultimately affecting their quality of life. For many years, treatments for neurocognitive impairments have been limited to educational, pharmacological, home-based interventions, or clinic-based cognitive rehabilitation, but these treatment modalities showed several limits. More recently, cognitive rehabilitation through digital tools to increase cognitive performance through exercises and games is spreading in experimental clinical settings. However, since these are innovative interventions, there is a need to further investigate their effects on cognitive outcomes and quality of life for children with brain tumours. Therefore, in this systematic review, we analyse the current evidence and trends regarding computer-based cognitive rehabilitation in paediatric patients diagnosed with, or survivors of, brain tumours. To our knowledge, this is the first systematic review investigating these new approaches to cognitive rehabilitation in children with brain tumours. Background: Late neurocognitive sequelae are common among long-term brain tumour survivors, resulting in significantly worse quality of life. Cognitive rehabilitation through specific APP/software for PC/tablets represents an innovative intervention spreading in recent years. In this study, we aim to review the current evidence and trends regarding these innovative approaches. Methods: A systematic literature review was performed. Inclusion criteria were: (i) Studies recruiting patients diagnosed with any brain tumour before 21 years of age; (ii) studies assessing the role of digital interventions on cognitive outcomes. Case reports, case series, reviews, letters, conference proceedings, abstracts, and editorials were excluded. Results: Overall, nine studies were included; 152 patients (67.8% males) with brain tumours underwent a digital intervention. The mean age at diagnosis and the intervention enrolment ranged from 4.9 to 9.4 years and 11.1 to 13.3 years, respectively. The computer-based software interventions employed were: Cogmed, Captain's Log, Fast ForWord, and Nintendo Wii. Most of these studies assessed the effects of cognitive training on working memory, attention, and performance in daily living activities. Conclusions: The studies suggest that this type of intervention improves cognitive functions, such as working memory, attention, and processing speed. However, some studies revealed only transient positive effects with a significant number of dropouts during follow-up. Trials with greater sample sizes are warranted. Simple Summary: Anal canal adenocarcinomas are a rare type of bowel cancer. For this reason, it is challenging to perform large studies in order to determine the optimal treatment strategy to achieve the best outcomes. Options for treatment include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery. These treatments may be combined or used alone. Outcomes are regarded as survival after diagnosis and treatment, or the recurrence of the disease. There is no universal gold standard that exists, with wide variability in practice and therefore also in outcomes between institutions. This is the intention of this systematic review. (1) Background: Anal canal adenocarcinomas constitute 1% of all gastrointestinal tract cancers. There is a current lack of consensus and NICE guidelines in the United Kingdom regarding the management of this disease. The overall objective was to perform a systematic review on the multitude of practice and subsequent outcomes in this group. (2) Methods: The MEDLINE, EMBASE, EMCARE and CINAHL databases were interrogated between 2011 to 2021. PRISMA guidelines were used to select relevant studies. The primary outcome measure was 5-year overall survival (OS). Secondary outcome measures included both local recurrences (LR) and distant metastases (DM). The Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to assess the quality of studies retrieved. The study was registered on PROSPERO (338286). (3) Results: Fifteen studies were included. Overall, there were 11,967 participants who were demographically matched. There were 2090 subjects in the largest study and five subjects in the smallest study. Treatment modalities varied from neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT), CRT and surgery (CRT + S), surgery then CRT (S + CRT) and surgery only (S). Five-year OS ranged from 30.2% to 91% across the literature. LR rates ranged from 22% to 29%; DM ranged from 6% to 60%. Study heterogeneity precluded meta-analysis. (4) Conclusions: Trimodality treatment with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by radical surgery of abdominoperineal excision of rectum (APER) appeared to be the most effective approach, giving the best survival outcomes according to the current data. There were no significant differences between non-supervised and supervised exercise programs according to random effects analysis. However, in the short term, supervised training programs may have a greater effect. In contrast, long-term differences in CRF between supervised and non-supervised exercise programs are not apparent. Simple Summary: SMARCB1 (INI-1)-deficient sinonasal carcinoma is a rare but locally aggressive malignancy which usually presents very late with invasion into the orbits and intracranium, and compression of adjacent cranial nerves and their branches at diagnosis, and has a poor survival outcome. So far, less than 200 cases have been reported. The optimal treatment strategy for this rare but intractable malignancy is yet to be determined. We performed a systematic review and included patients treated at our institution for treatment outcome and survival analysis. Multivariable analysis revealed that T4b disease at diagnosis was the only prognostic factor of overall survival. In view of the extreme challenge of managing this malignancy, we are initiating a phase II trial on tazemetostat, an EHZ2 inhibitor, as induction therapy with systemic chemotherapy followed by radical surgery or chemoradiation, and as maintenance therapy for previously untreated stage III to IVA SMARCB1 (INI-1)-deficient sinonasal carcinoma. We performed a systematic review of all the published case reports/series and included our patients for survival analysis. (2) Methods: In this systematic review, we searched from PubMed-MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and Google Scholar for individual patient data to identify and retrieve all reported SMARCB1-deficient sinonasal carcinoma. Clarification on treatment details and the most updated survival outcomes from all authors of the published case reports/series were attempted. Survival analysis for overall survival (OS) and identification of OS prognostic factors were performed. This systematic review was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42022306671). (3) Results: A total of 67 publications were identified from the systematic review and literature search. After excluding other ineligible and duplicated publications, 192 patients reported were considered appropriate for further review. After excluding duplicates and patients with incomplete pretreatment details and survival outcomes, 120 patients were identified to have a complete set of data including baseline demographics, treatment details, and survival outcomes. Together with 8 patients treated in our institution, 128 patients were included into survival analysis. After a median follow up of 17.5 months (range 0.3–149.0), 50 (46.3%) patients died. The 1-year, 2-year and 3-year OS rates were 84.3% (95% CI % 77.6–91.0), 62.9% (95% CI 53.1–72.7), and 51.8% (95% CI 40.8–62.8), respectively, and the median OS was 39.0 months (95% CI 28.5–49.5). Males (p = 0.029) and T4b disease (p = 0.013) were significant OS prognostic factors in univariable analysis, while only T4b disease (p = 0.017) remained significant in multivariable analysis. (4) Conclusions: SMARCB1-deficient sinonasal carcinoma is an extremely aggressive sinonasal malignancy with a dismal prognosis. Gynecological cancer patients are considered at high risk of VTE and of bleeding due to the intrinsic nature of the tumor itself. This review aimed to summarize the protocols for VTE prevention in gynecological cancer patients given by the selected national and international guidelines in order to help the clinicians to identify patients who would benefit from VTE prophylaxis during daily practice. (1) Background: This review aimed to summarize the indications for venous thromboembolic (VTE) events' prophylaxis in a gynecological cancer population, according to the most recent guidelines. (2) Methods: A systematic review of the guidelines in PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, EMBASE, and CINHAL regarding VTE prevention in gynecological cancer patients was conducted according to PRISMA criteria. We compared the recommendations given by oncological and hematological societies regarding VTE prevention in gynecological cancer patients published from January 2010 through March 2021. We searched for the following keywords: "venous thromboembolism prevention", "cancer", and "guidelines". The AGREE II checklist was used to critically analyze the guidelines' quality. (3) Results: There were 1003 documents available; 14 met the inclusion criteria, 5 were excluded and, eventually, the guidelines of 10 societies were evaluated. (4) Conclusions: The guidelines agree that low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) and fondaparinux achieve better results in VTE prevention in gynecological cancer patients. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) can be used to prevent VTE in outpatients and high-risk medical patients after discharge. VTE risk scores should be applied to all oncological patients to identify those who would benefit from a prevention program. Simple Summary: Many individuals with cancer suffer from persistent exhaustion due to cancer therapy, known as cancer-related fatigue (CRF). Yoga, psychosocial, and mindfulness-based interventions are recommended to reduce CRF. However, it is not clear yet how interventions need to be designed to maximize their efficacy. This meta-analysis aimed to identify intervention characteristics associated with greater reductions in CRF. A total of 70 interventions with 6387 participants were included in the analysis. Our results found a positive effect of yoga, psychosocial, and mindfulness-based interventions, while all invention types revealed large differences in intervention effects. In psychosocial interventions, using a group setting and working on cognition was related to higher efficacy. Regarding yoga and mindfulness-based interventions, no specific intervention characteristics emerged as more favorable than others. Overall, this meta-analysis suggests opportunities to optimize psychosocial interventions for CRF, whereas the design of yoga and mindfulness-based interventions seems to allow for variation. For yoga and mindfulness-based interventions, no particular intervention characteristic was identified to be advantageous for reducing CRF. Simple Summary: Breast cancer (BC) patients suffer from loss of muscle tissue and fluid alterations during the whole trajectory of the disease. Such alterations might be reflected by phase angle (PhA) measures, but its use in the oncologic setting is still limited. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review was to assess PhA in BC patients, since it has been proven to be a reliable index for predicting nutritional status and survival. Findings reveal that PhA decreases after chemotherapy in BC patients, with high results in women with a better nutritional status, and these changes may persist even after five years. However, PhA remains stable, or can increase in some cases, when patients are supported by targeted lifestyle interventions. Thus, PhA can be useful to identify and monitor changes in body compartments and the nutritional status of BC patients over time. Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer diagnosed among women worldwide. Phase angle (PhA), a proxy measure of membrane integrity and function, has gained relevance in clinical practice and it has been suggested to be a prognostic and nutritional indicator. This systematic review aimed to explore PhA and its relationship with nutritional status and survival in BC patients. Four databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and CINAHL) were systematically searched until September 2021 for studies evaluating PhA in BC patients. A total of 16 studies met the inclusion criteria, where 11 were observational studies and 5 were interventional studies. Baseline PhA-value varied from 4.9 to 6.30 degrees, showing a great variability and heterogeneity across the selected studies. Available data suggested that PhA decreased by 5–15% after completing chemotherapy, and those effects might persist in the long term. However, the use of tailored nutritional and/or exercise programs during and after therapy could prevent PhA reduction and body derangement. High PhA values were found in women displaying a better nutritional status, while inconsistent data were found on survival. Simple Summary: Germline genetic testing for patients with cancer can have important implications for treatment, preventive options, and for family members. In a mainstream genetic testing pathway, pre-test counseling is performed by non-genetic healthcare professionals, thereby making genetic testing more accessible to all patients who might benefit from it. These mainstream genetic testing pathways are being implemented in different hospitals around the world, and for different cancer types. It is important to evaluate how a mainstream genetic testing pathway can be made sustainable and if quality of genetic care is maintained. We show in this systematic review that it is feasible to incorporate a mainstream genetic testing pathway into routine cancer care while maintaining quality of care. A training procedure for non-genetic healthcare professionals and a close collaboration between genetics and other clinical departments are highly recommended to ensure sustainability. Background: Non-genetic healthcare professionals can provide pre-test counseling and order germline genetic tests themselves, which is called mainstream genetic testing. In this systematic review, we determined whether mainstream genetic testing was feasible in daily practice while maintaining quality of genetic care. Methods: PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, and PsychINFO were searched for articles describing mainstream genetic testing initiatives in cancer care. Results: Seventeen articles, reporting on 15 studies, met the inclusion criteria. Non-genetic healthcare professionals concluded that mainstream genetic testing was possible within the timeframe of a routine consultation. In 14 studies, non-genetic healthcare professionals completed some form of training about genetics. When referral was coordinated by a genetics team, the majority of patients carrying a pathogenic variant were seen for post-test counseling by genetic healthcare professionals. The number of days between cancer diagnosis and test result disclosure was always lower in the mainstream genetic testing pathway than in the standard genetic testing pathway (e.g., pre-test counseling at genetics department). Conclusions: Mainstream genetic testing seems feasible in daily practice with no insurmountable barriers. Simple Summary: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women globally. Early and accurate screening of breast tumours can improve survival. Ultrasound elastography is a non-invasive and non-ionizing imaging approach to characterize lesions for breast cancer screening, while machine learning techniques could improve the accuracy and reliability of computer-aided diagnosis. This review focuses on the state-of-the-art development and application of the machine learning model in breast tumour classification. Ultrasound elastography can quantify stiffness distribution of tissue lesions and complements conventional B-mode ultrasound for breast cancer screening. Recently, the development of computer-aided diagnosis has improved the reliability of the system, whilst the inception of machine learning, such as deep learning, has further extended its power by facilitating automated segmentation and tumour classification. The objective of this review was to summarize application of the machine learning model to ultrasound elastography systems for breast tumour classification. Review databases included PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, and EMBASE. Thirteen (n = 13) articles were eligible for review. Shear-wave elastography was investigated in six articles, whereas seven studies focused on strain elastography (5 freehand and 2 Acoustic Radiation Force). Traditional computer vision workflow was common in strain elastography with separated image segmentation, feature extraction, and classifier functions using different algorithm-based methods, neural networks or support vector machines (SVM). Shear-wave elastography often adopts the deep learning model, convolutional neural network (CNN), that integrates functional tasks. All of the reviewed articles achieved sensitivity ≥80%, while only half of them attained acceptable specificity ≥95%. Deep learning models did not necessarily perform better than traditional computer vision workflow. Nevertheless, there were inconsistencies and insufficiencies in reporting and calculation, such as the testing dataset, cross-validation, and methods to avoid overfitting. Most of the studies did not report loss or hyperparameters. Future studies may consider using the deep network with an attention layer to locate the targeted object automatically and online training to facilitate efficient re-training for sequential data. Information from a systematic review on clinical aspects of palliative sedation prospective studies were included. PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, MEDLINE, and EMBASE were searched (January 2014–December 2019). Data extraction and analysis regarded: (a) When and by whom the decision-making process is initiated; (b) patient involvement; (c) family involvement and (d) healthcare involvement. Results. Data about decision making were reported in 8/10 included articles. Palliative sedation was reported in 1137 patients (only 16 of them were non-cancer). Palliative sedation was introduced by the palliative care team during the disease process, at admission, or when patients experienced refractory symptoms. Only two studies explicitly mentioned the involvement of patients in decision making. Co-decision between families and the regular health care professionals was usual, and the health care professionals involved had been working in palliative care services. Conclusion. Patient participation in decision making appeared to be compromised by limited physical or cognitive capacity and family participation is described. Simple Summary: The diagnostic and therapeutic pathway of vulvar cancer impacts severely on the psychosocial and psychosexual equilibrium of women affected by it. The current literature shows the presence of depressive and anxious symptoms in association with physical, psychological and behavioural alterations in sexuality as well as deterioration of partner relationship. The aim of this article is to highlight the difficulties and challenges faced by women diagnosed and treated for vulvar cancer to provide early recognition and appropriate assistance. By implementing an integrated care model, it should be possible to detect unmet needs and improve the quality of life of these women. Women who are diagnosed and treated for vulvar cancer are at higher risk of psychological distress, sexual dysfunction and dissatisfaction with partner relationships. The aim of this article is to provide a review of the psychological, relational and sexual issues experienced by women with vulvar cancer in order to highlight the importance of this issue and improve the quality of care offered to these patients. A review of the literature was performed using PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and the Cochrane Library. The results are presented as a narrative synthesis and highlight the massive impact of vulvar cancer: depressive and anxiety symptoms were more frequent in these women, and vulvar cancer may have a negative effect on sexuality from a physical, psychological and behavioural point of view. Factors that may negatively affect these women's lives are shame, insecurity or difficulties in self-care and daily activities. This review highlights the psychosocial and psychosexual issues faced by women diagnosed and treated for vulvar cancer, although more studies are needed to better investigate this field of interest and to identify strategies to relieve their psychological distress. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are a relatively new therapy for some cancers and have shown great promise in helping people. Physical activity has been shown to aid many cancer patients to overcome adverse effects in traditional chemotherapy, but along with ICIs, it hasn't been fully examined. This study was carried out to describe where the current research is now and to find knowledge gaps to help shape future research with ICIs, physical activity, and cancer outcomes. Background: Cancer therapies are associated with multiple adverse effects, including (but not limited to) cancer-related fatigue (CRF). Fatigue is one of the most common side effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), occurring in up to 25% of patients. Physical activity has been shown to help reduce CRF through modulating the immune system, and may synergistically aid in the anti-tumor effects of ICIs. This review describes the nature and scope of evidence for the effects associated with concurrent physical activity while undergoing ICI therapy. Method: Scoping review methodology was utilized to identify studies, extract data, and collate and summarize results. Results: In literature published from January 2010 through to August 2021, only one human study and three pre-clinical studies met inclusion criteria. Conclusion: Existing evidence supports that physical activity is associated with decreased treatment-related toxicities such as CRF. However, further investigation is warranted. The dearth of clinical studies illustrates the need for more research to address this question, to guide patients and their providers in the application of appropriate physical activity interventions in those patients undergoing ICI. Simple Summary: As the number of patients with cancer continues to rise globally, developing methods to support these patients is important for providing high-quality care. The aim of our systematic review is to describe and examine the use of text-based communications in cancer supportive care. We identified 18 studies suitable for inclusion in our review. Overall, patients were satisfied with using text-based communication in their cancer care. Results were inconsistent within other outcome categories; however, specific interventions yielded some positive results such as the use of reminders for promoting medication adherence. While the results of this review should not be considered conclusive, it illustrates that further research on the use of text-based communications in cancer-supportive care is warranted. The global cancer disease burden is substantial, resulting in increased economic and clinical strain on our healthcare systems. A proposed solution is text-based communication, which can be used for cancer-supportive care. We conducted a systematic review to synthesize and describe the use of text-based communications for cancer-supportive care. Our population of interest included adult patients with cancer. A total of 18 studies were included in the review: 9 RCTs and 9 non-randomized interventional/observational studies. Patients were largely satisfied with text-based communication during their cancer care. Compared to controls, results for other outcomes including symptoms and quality of life were largely mixed; however, no harms were observed. Furthermore, positive outcomes were seen for specific interventions, such as text message medication reminders. These findings should be considered with caution due to the considerable heterogeneity observed between studies regarding their design and reported outcomes and the high risk of bias associated with 6/18 studies. Overall, this review suggests that text-based communication may be a complementary tool for cancer-supportive care; however, more research is needed to examine the feasibility of implementation and use. Simple Summary: The increasing prevalence of cancer in nursing homes may be explained by the increased incidence of cancer associated with older age combined with treatment effectiveness leading to chronicity of cancer and functional decline related or not to cancer itself or its treatment. It represents a major challenge for paramedical staff poorly equipped to manage active cancer treatments and may be influenced by unconscious agism due to misconception of cancer care in the elderly. The ONCOPAD project aims to develop information and training programs for paramedical staff in nursing homes to demystify the management of cancer in the elderly and improve the quality of care outside the hospital and the quality of life of patients at each stage. Considering the need to adapt the program, a systematic scoping review of the current data was carried out to map educational strategies as well as cultural and ethical barriers associated with the treatment of cancer in nursing homes. (1) Background: The aging of the population, the increase in the incidence of cancer with age, and effective chronic oncological treatments all lead to an increased prevalence of cancer in nursing homes. The aim of the present study was to map the cultural and ethical barriers associated with the treatment of cancer and educational strategies in this setting. (2) Methods: A systematic scoping review was conducted until April 2021 in MEDLINE, Embase, and CINAHL. All articles assessing continuum of care, paramedical education, and continuing education in the context of older cancer patients in nursing homes were reviewed. (3) Results: A total of 666 articles were analyzed, of which 65 studies were included. Many factors interfering with the decision to investigate and treat, leading to late- or unstaged disease, palliative-oriented care instead of curative, and a higher risk of unjustified transfers to acute care settings, were identified. The educational strategies explored in this context were generally based on training programs. (4) Conclusions: These results will allow the co-construction of educational tools intended to develop knowledge and skills to improve diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making, the consistency of care, and, ultimately, the quality of life of older cancer patients in nursing homes.
