The aim of this study was to expand understanding of how baccalaureate-level nursing students engage in and transition through international health-care experiences (IHCEs). Using a qualitative, interpretative research design, the authors conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 12 former nursing students. This article focuses on international nursing shock, one of the key themes that emerged from participants' narratives. The findings suggest that international nursing shock can be minimized through a range of student and educator-focused strategies. These findings have the potential to enhance the quality of IHCEs for students and the faculty who support these activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It discusses the objectives of the initiative, the number of research teams funded under the initiative from 2011 to 2013 and the promotion of the initiative.
