Seize revues intemationales spécialisées en statistique fondamentale ont été recensées sur une période de 11 ans débutant en 1985. Un décompte des articles publiés dans ces revues, de leur longueur et du nombre de leurs auteurs, permet d'évaluer sommairement la productivité des établissements et des pays ayant contributé à la recherche fondamentale en statistique durant cette période. Ces données mettent en évidence I'importance de la contribution du Canada au développement de la discipline au cours de la demière décennie. Elles brossent également un portrait de I'évolution des pratiques de publication, notamment en ce qui touche le volume des écrits, leur longueur et le nombre de leurs signataires. Every bivariate distribution function with continuous marginals can be represented in terms of a unique copula, that is, in terms of a distribution function on the unit square with uniform marginals. This paper is concerned with a special class of copulas called Archimedean, which includes the uniform representation of many standard bivariate distributions. Conditions are given under which these copulas are stochastically ordered and pointwise limits of sequences of Archimedean copulas are examined. We also provide two new one-parameter families of bivariate distributions which include as limiting cases the Frechet bounds and the independence distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Deux versions d'un paradoxe statistique ayant trait à un certain 'principe d'ancillarité' ont récemment été proposées par Godambe (1979, 1982). Dans cette note, nous montrons que les deux versions de son paradoxe sont en fait d'une nature totalement différente et nous les résolvons toutes les deux en les examinant à la lumière du concept de répartition aléatoire. The article discusses the combination of a number of opinions that have been expressed as probability measures P1, ..., Pn over some space. It is stated that a pooling formula with the marginalization property must be in the expression T=En1_w1P1 + (1 - E1_w1)Q. It presents a theorem that characterizes those pooling operators which have marginalization property.
