In the article, the authors present a comparison of the terrane wreck (TW) model and the in-order terrane (IOT) model that were used in the analysis of rocks and other geological formations in the New Brunswick and Newfoundland areas in Canada. Other topics include the correlative histories of sequential and pseudosynchronous accretionary orogenesis in the IOT model, and the analysis of primary oceans and secondary faulting.

An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses articles in the issue on topics including life and career of Canadian geophysicist and university administrator David Strangway; magnetic, paleomagnetic, and aeromagnetic data to study theoretical and applied geophysical research problems.

The article discusses geological, geochemical, isotopic, thermodynamic, and fluid dynamic constraints require that the sulfide in most high-grade magmatic Ni–Cu–PGE deposits in large igneous provinces (LIPs). Topics include the broad consensus on the need to incorporate crustal S to generate high-grade Ni–Cu–PGE deposits in LIPs; and these points suggest that Fe–Ni–Cu–PGE sulfide melts have rarely ever transported upwards.
