Let X be a Banach space with the Szlenk index ω, then its dual space X* has an equivalent weak* uniformly Kadec–Klee norm with modulus of power type. That extends results of Knaust, Odell and Schlumprecht [‘On asymptotic structure, the Szlenk index and UKK properties in Banach spaces’, Positivity 3 (1999) 173–199] and solves a problem of Huff [‘Banach spaces which are nearly uniformly convex’, Rocky Mountain J.
