Blood cultures were negative, and a full viral screen including cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was unremarkable. The patient was treated with combination immunochemotherapy targeting both systemic and CNS disease, with a plan for consideration of autologous stem cell transplantation as consolidation therapy.
