Abstract

The article discusses a study to evaluate whether dark chocolate consumption represents an effective and cost effective means of preventing cardiovascular disease among patients with the metabolic syndrome (without diabetes). The study concluded that the blood pressure lowering and lipid effects of dark chocolate could represent an effective and cost effective strategy for the prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with the metabolic syndrome (and no diabetes).
