Abstract

The article presents a study that examines the systemic adverse effects of intravitreal injections of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibiting drugs. The study uses a nested case-control design to determine the association between VEGF and cardiovascular health to 91,378 adults ages 66 years or older with histories of retinal disease in Ontario. The result of the study indicates that there were no significant vascular risks of VEGF.
