The article discusses results of a study that examines the effect of Cardiovascular Health Awareness Program (CHAP, a standardised and centrally supported community-wide cardiovascular health and disease prevention initiative on hospital admissions for acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure and stroke. The study methodology is discussed. The study observed the importance of small shifts in the distribution of risk factors on the cardiovascular health of subjects. It confirms significant reductions in hospital admissions for congestive heart failure and acute myocardial infarction but not for stroke.
