From among the many research findings regarding procedural justice reported in recent years has emerged a phenomenon that is sufficiently robust to be considered a principle of organizational behavior: Fair procedures enhance acceptance or organizational outcomes. Two questions arise from this discussion: 1) How do people define 'fair procedures'? and 2) What specific organizational outcomes are affected? Topics discussed in this article include structural determinants of procedural justice; interpersonal determinants of procedural justice; outcome valence; the limits of voice; voice and social sensitivity must be sincere; When do people follow interpersonally fair procedures?; training managers in procedural justice; promoting procedural justice: making professional football fair; and the dangers of violating procedural justice. The authors find that it is clear that procedural justice has emerged from the awkward intellectual adolescent it was considered to be only a few years ago.
