When a multinational organization elects to establish subsidiaries in different countries and allow each subsidiary to function as if it was a local firm, this is referred to as a multidomestic strategy. Each subsidiary acts as if it were a domestic firm in order to be able to respond more effectively to local conditions. In the final analysis each firm is still a member of the parent organization, but also has roots in the country in which it was formed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
