The primary purpose of didactic collections is to serve as didactic material for the formal teaching of sciences. In this perspective, the objective of this study was to present a didactic alternative for teaching science in elementary schools, with the help of biological collections as a practical alternative for teaching / learning science. The study was conducted in a school of public and methodology was developed with the choice of the groups of the seventh year of elementary school for application questionnaires. 74 questionnaires were applied, containing 10 questions, before and after the practice session with biological collections. The participants were 74 students, aged between 11 and 15 years. Students were asked about various issues related to education, amphibians and biological collections in science education. As a result, it was observed that students have few educational alternatives for teaching amphibians, although they have a great interest in being awarded with practical teaching methods, such as biological collections. In this sense, the investment is proposed in environmental education, in order to present information on these animals, to reflect on the protection of the local fauna.
