Abstract

The article discusses research which examines the effectiveness of sanitizers in killing pathogenic bacterial strains of Escherichia coli ingested by free-living nematodes Caenorhabditis elegans. Topics discussed include decline in viability of E. coli strains by sodium hypochlorite, increase in the survival of the E. coli strains by persistence in the C. elegans gut under 0.1 percent sodium hypochlorite, and washing raw fruits and vegetables with tap water to prevent the contamination.
