Abstract

The article discusses the enzyme UDP-glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) which catalyzes the transition of UDP-glucoronic acid. UGDH which is all-important for the biosynthesis of complex such as hyaluronan in many cell types, and is needed for detoxification of toxic compounds in the liver. In this study, it is identified the cis-element dwelling in the distal region of the UGDH promoter that is responsible for interceding the transcriptional repression of the gene.
