Background: Over the past decade, 3D printing technology has revolutionized various fields, including dentistry. Provisional restorations play a crucial role in prosthetic rehabilitation, necessitating the evaluation of their bond strength with different provisional cement agents. Aims: This study is aimed at assessing the immediate and long‐term bond strength of 3D‐printed dental crowns using three provisional cement agents. Materials and Methods: Provisional crowns (N = 36) were manufactured using 3D modeling software and cemented in dentin analogues (G10 Nema resin). After the crowns' fabrication, they were randomly divided into three groups (n = 12) for cementation with Relyx Temp 3M ESPE, Provicol—VOCO, and Meron—VOCO. Tensile strength tests were conducted using a universal testing machine, with half of the specimens subjected to 2000 thermal cycles before testing. Finite element analysis was employed to assess tensile stress distribution. Results: Statistical analysis (two‐way ANOVA and Tukey's test at a 95% confidence level) revealed significant effects of cement type (p = 0.006) and thermal aging (p = 0.001) on bond strength. Glass ionomer cement exhibited the highest immediate resistance, while all types of cement were adversely affected by thermal aging, resulting in decreased bond strength. Conclusion: Thermal aging significantly alters the properties of 3D printing resin and affects the bond strength of provisional cement with 3D‐printed crowns. Despite the adverse effects of thermal aging, glass ionomer cement demonstrated the highest immediate resistance. Background. Neutrophils play an important role in maintaining periodontal status in conditions of healthy homeostasis. They achieve their surveillance function by continuously migrating to the gingival sulcus and eradicating periodontal pathogens. In addition, neutrophils are considered an integral element in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. Among several neutrophil subsets, low‐density neutrophils (LDN) have recently received attention and are linked with cancer, immunological, inflammatory, and infectious diseases. However, the presence, phenotypes, and potential role of LDN in the pathogenesis of periodontitis have not yet been investigated. Objectives. To investigate the presence, subsets (normal, band, suppressive, and active), and phenotypes via marker expression surface protein known as the cluster of differentiation (CD) (CD16b, CD14, CD15, and CD62L) of LDN in patients with periodontitis. Materials and Methods. The observational case‐control study was conducted to estimate the potential role of LDNs in periodontitis. Venous blood and periodontal indices were obtained from 40 healthy control individuals and 60 periodontitis patients. Subsequently, CD16b, CD62L, CD14, and CD15 expression on the surface of LDN was examined by multicolor flow cytometry, and their subsets were classified as "normal" (CD16brightCD62Lbright), "bands" (CD16dimCD62Lbright), "suppressive" (CD16brightCD62Ldim), and "active" (CD16brightCD62Lnegative). Results. There was a significant difference in the expression of LDN markers for active and suppressive phenotypes, respectively, favoring periodontitis over the control group. In contrast, there were significantly higher levels of CD16b, CD62L, and CD15 ("normal") in the control group when compared with the periodontitis group. Conclusion. LDN was associated with periodontitis as it was significantly increased in the periodontitis group in comparison with the control group and was positively correlated with all periodontal parameters. Cells from both groups of patients (periodontitis and control) expressed a normal mature phenotype (CD16b + High, CD62L + High, CD15+, and CD14‐). Regarding subsets, the normal LDN (CD16brightCD62Lbright) was the most predominant phenotype in both periodontitis and control groups. Introduction. PPIs, or proton pump inhibitors, are the most widely prescribed drugs. There is a debate regarding the relationship between long-term PPI use and the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). A potential connection between T2DM and PPIs could be an elevated gastrin concentration. This study is aimed at investigating the long-term effects of PPI omeprazole (OZ) on glucose homeostasis and pancreatic gene expression profile in mice. Methods. Healthy adult male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into three equal groups (n = 10 in each one): (1) experimental mice that received OZ 20 mg/kg; (2) control mice that received 30 μl saline per os; (3) intact mice without any interventions. Mice were treated for 30 weeks. Glucose homeostasis was investigated by fasting blood glucose level, oral glucose tolerance test (GTT), insulin tolerance test (ITT), and basal insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). Serum gastrin and insulin concentration were determined by ELISA. Expressions of Sirt1, Pparg, Nfκb1 (p105), Nfe2l2, Cxcl5, Smad3, H2a.z, and H3f3b were measured by RT-PCR. Result. The ROC analysis revealed an increase in fasting blood glucose levels in OZ-treated mice in comparison with control and intact groups during the 30-week experiment. A slight but statistically significant increase in glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity was observed in OZ-treated mice within 30 weeks of the experiment. The mice treated with OZ exhibited significant increases in serum insulin and gastrin levels, accompanied by a rise in the HOMA-IR level. These animals had a statistically significant increase in Sirt1, Pparg, and Cxcl5 mRNA expression. There were no differences in β-cell numbers between groups. Conclusion. Long-term OZ treatment induced hypergastrin- and hyperinsulinemia and increased expression of Sirt1, Pparg, and Cxcl5 in mouse pancreatic tissues accompanied by specific changes in glucose metabolism. The mechanism of omeprazole-induced Cxcl5 mRNA expression and its association with pancreatic cancer risk should be investigated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. About 70% (25.6 million) of the global HIV/AIDS burden is from Sub-Saharan Africa. Safe male circumcision (SMC) is one of the measures that were adopted by the Ugandan government aimed at reducing the risk of HIV infection contraction, as recommended by the WHO. Its main goal was to maximize HIV prevention impact with voluntary medical circumcision services to all adult men and adolescent boys. The objective of our study was to assess the knowledge, perception, and practice of safe medical circumcision on HIV infection risk reduction among undergraduate students of a public university in Northern Uganda. Methods. We conducted a cross-sectional survey among 556 randomly selected Lira University undergraduate students from March 2023 to June 2023. With the use of a self-administered questionnaire, we collected data on the knowledge and perceptions of undergraduate students towards safe medical circumcision. Data were exported to Stata® 17 statistical software. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate regression analyses were done at a statistical level of significance P value < 0.05. Results. Our 556 study participants had an age range of 21-25 years. The majority (81.29%) of the respondents knew that safe medical circumcision reduces the risk of acquiring HIV. However, the perception is that close to 3 in 4 (74.46%) of the students were unsure if they would opt for safe medical circumcision as risk reduction measure against HIV. The practice of safe medical circumcision was 64.8% among the study participants. Conclusions. More than three in four of the undergraduate students have knowledge on safe medical circumcision as risk reduction measure for HIV infection. And close to 3 in 4 (74.46%) of the student's perception were unsure if they would opt for safe medical circumcision as risk reduction measure against HIV. The practice of safe medical circumcision was 64.8% among the study participants. Therefore, in an effort to increase SMC's adoption for HIV/AIDS prevention, the Ministry of Health of Uganda and related stakeholders in health should work hand in hand with university study bodies in order to optimize SMC uptake among university students. Objective. This research study investigated the effect of new decontamination protocols on the bonding capacity of saliva-contaminated monolithic zirconia (MZ) ceramics cemented with two different monomer-containing self-adhesive resin cements. Materials and Methods. Standardized tooth preparations (4 mm. axial height) were performed for eighty human maxillary premolars under constant water cooling system. Eighty monolithic zirconia crowns (Whitepeaks Supreme Monolith) (n = 8 / 10 groups) were manufactured by CAD-CAM. Specimens were kept in the artificial saliva at pH = 7.3 for 1 minute at 37°C except control groups. The specimens have not been prealumina blasted and grouped according to cleaning methods and resin cements: control groups (C) (no saliva contamination + GPDM + 4 ‐ META (N) (CN) and 10-MDP (M) containing resin cement (CM), alumina blasted AL + GPDM + 4 ‐ META (ALN) and 10-MDP containing resin cement (ALM), zirconium oxide containing universal cleaning agent (IC) applied + GPDM + 4 ‐ META (N) (ICN) and 10-MDP containing resin cement (ICM), pumice (P) applied + GPDM + 4 ‐ META (PN) and 10-MDP containing resin cement (PM), and air-water spray (AW) applied + GPDM + 4 ‐ META (AWN) and 10-MDP containing resin cement (AWM)). Monobond Plus was applied to all surfaces for 40 seconds before cementation. The thermal cycle was applied at 5,000 cycles after cementation. The crowns were tested in tensile mode at a speed of 1 mm/min. The mode of failure was recorded. SEM examinations were carried out at different magnifications. Data were analyzed using rank-based Kruskal-Wallis and Mann–Whitney tests. Results. No significant differences were found between the surface treatments and between the two types of resin cements. Interaction effects between surface treatments and resin cements were found to be significant by two-way ANOVA analysis. ICM group resulted in significantly better bond strength results compared with CN. ICM was found to result in better bond strength results compared with PM. The combination of universal cleaning agent and 10-MDP containing resin cement had significantly the highest cementation bond strength values. The increasing order of mean tensile bond strength values of decontamination protocols was C < AW < P < AL < IC. The mean tensile bond strength of 10-MDP containing resin cement was slightly higher than GPDM + 4 ‐ META containing resin cement. Conclusions. Universal cleaning agents can be preferred as an efficient cleaning method with 10-MDP-containing cement after saliva contamination for better adhesive bond strength of 4 mm crown preparation height of monolithic zirconia ceramics. Background and Purpose. Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic or acute form of musculoskeletal pain that affects nearly three-quarters of the world's population. It is characterized by muscle pain and stiffness, with palpable nodules and hyperirritability areas called myofascial trigger points (MTPs). The temporal muscle is frequently involved in MPS, and four MTPs in the temporal muscle have been described in the literature, but no anatomical description of the MTPs has been reported. The present study described the entry points of deep temporal nerves in the temporal muscle belly and related these points to the MTPs described in the literature. Method. Temporal muscles of 14 adult cadavers were studied. The muscle bellies were divided into six areas, three superior (1.2 and 3) and three inferior areas (4, 5, and 6) lower, according to a Cartesian plane to analyze and describe the entry points of the branches of the deep temporal nerves into the muscle. The branching distribution was analyzed using Poisson log-linear tests with Bonferroni post hoc tests for comparison between groups (sextants) (p < 0.05). Results. Deep temporal nerve entry points were found in the temporal muscle in all areas. Most of the branches were observed in areas 2 and 5, which coincide with the muscle fibers responsible for mandible elevation and related to the previously described MTPs. Fewer branches were found in areas 1 and 6, where contraction produces mandible retraction. Conclusion. There is an anatomical correlation between the branching pattern of the deep temporal nerve and temporal muscle trigger points. Adequate knowledge of the innervation of the temporal muscle may help elucidate the pathophysiology of myofascial syndromes and provide a rational basis for interventional or conservative approaches and help surgeons avoid iatrogenic lesions to the deep temporal nerve lesion. Introduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated mandibular molars using traditional and conservative access cavity preparation. Materials and Methods. In this in vitro study, 100 extracted healthy human mandibular molars were selected and divided into 10 groups (n = 10). Healthy teeth in one group were considered the control group. In three groups, traditional access cavity preparation was done (groups A) without two marginal ridges (A1), with one marginal ridge (A2), and with two marginal ridges (A3). In three groups (group B), two separate access cavities with a dentinoenamel roof without two marginal ridges (B1), with one marginal ridge (B2), and with two marginal ridges (B3) were prepared. In three other groups (groups C), two separate access cavities were prepared only with a dentinal roof without two marginal ridges (C1), with one marginal ridge (C2), and with two marginal ridges (C3), on which root canal treatment was performed afterward. Then, these teeth were subjected to force until fracture. The fracture force and fracture mode of each tooth were recorded and compared between groups by ANOVA, Tukey's post hoc, and chi-square tests using SPSS ver. 23 (IBM, Somers, NJ, USA). Results. The control teeth had the highest mean fracture force (2804.5 ± 338.5 N), followed by a conservative access cavity with a dentinoenamel roof and two marginal ridges (2360.4 ± 181.72 N) and a conservative access cavity with a dentinoenamel roof and one marginal ridge (1812.8 ± 263.9 N), respectively. The lowest mean fracture force was found for the conventional access cavity group without two marginal ridges (399.4 ± 95.2 N). Conclusion. In the condition of this study, with two separate access cavities in mandibular molars and maintenance of the marginal ridges, it is possible to provide teeth with higher fracture resistance against occlusal forces. Background. Due to their ability to recruit immune cells to kill tumor cells directly, bispecific T cell engager antibodies (BiTE) hold great potential in T cell redirecting therapies. BiTE is able to activate T cells through CD3 and target them to tumor-expressed antigens. However, there are many components in the tumor microenvironment (TME) such as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that may interfere with BiTE function. Herein, we designed an anti-PDL1-BiTE that targets programmed death ligand 1 (PDL1) and CD3 and investigated its effect on PDL1pos cancer cells in the presence or absence of adipose-derived MSCs (ASCs). Method. Our anti-PDL1-BiTE comprises of VL and VH chains of anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody (mAb) linked to the VL and VH chains of anti-PDL1 mAb, which simultaneously bind to the CD3ε subunit on T cells and PDL1 on tumor cells. Flow cytometry was employed to assess the strength of binding of anti-PDL1-BiTE to tumor cells and T cells. Cytotoxicity, proliferation, and activation of peripheral blood lymphocyte (PBLs) were evaluated by CFSE assay and flow cytometry after using anti-PDL1-BiTE in the presence or absence of ASCs and their conditioned media (C.M.). Results. Anti-PDL1-BiTE had the ability to induce selective lysis of PDL1pos U251-MG cancer cells while PDL1neg cells were not affected. Also, anti-PDL1-BiTE significantly stimulated peripheral blood lymphocyte (PBL) proliferation and CD69 expression. ASCs/C.M. did not show a significant effect on the biological activity of anti-PDL1-BiTE. Conclusion. Overall, anti-PDL1-BiTE selectively depletes PDL1pos cells and represents a new immunotherapeutic approach. It would increase the accumulation of T cells and can improve the prognosis of PDL1pos cancers in spite of the immunomodulatory effects of ASCs and C.M. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose. Evaluate the effect of different mini-implant numbers on overdenture retention and evaluate attachment wear following one year of simulated placement/removal. Material and Methods. Nine models simulating atrophic mandibles held 27 mini dental implants in three groups of 2, 3, and 4 mini-implants. A total of 1080 simulated placement/removal cycles were carried out, and a digital force gauge was used to measure the overdenture dislodgment force. The means of the retention forces were analyzed using SPSS with one-way ANOVA and post hoc (p < 0.05). The inner diameter of attachment inserts was evaluated using a light microscope before and after testing. A paired t -test was used to compare the mean of inner ring diameters (p < 0.05). Results. The retention was significantly reduced regardless of the mini dental implant number, but the number affected overdenture retention. The placement of 4 mini dental implants provided higher retention and less reduction in retentiveness. However, no significant difference was found when 3 mini dental implants were compared to 2 mini dental implants (p = 0.21). Microscopic examination showed abrasion wear in all inserts following testing. However, the inserts of the 4 mini dental implants showed less wear than those used for 2 or 3 mini dental implants with p ≤ 0.001 and p ≤ 0.001 , respectively. Conclusion. Mini dental implant overdenture retention force and attachment wear could improve by increasing the mini dental implants to 4. Background. Tuberculosis (TB) coinfection in human immunodeficiency virus- (HIV-) infected patients is considered a risk of antiretroviral therapy (ART) failure. Coadministration of antitubercular therapy (ATT) with ART is another challenge for TB management. Objective. The study was aimed at investigating contributing factors affecting treatment outcomes in HIV-/TB-coinfected patients. Design. Cross-sectional. Setting. Samples were collected from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital Islamabad. Subject and Methods. Clinicodemographic and immunovirological factors between the two groups were compared. The Student t -test and chi-square test were applied to compare outcome variables, and logistic regression was applied to determine the effect of TB on virological failure (VF). Main Outcome Measures. TB coinfection did not increase VF even in univariate (p = 0.974) and multivariate analysis at 6 and 12 months of 2nd-line ART start. ARV switching was significant (p = 0.033) in TB-coinfected patients. VF was significantly high in ATT-coadministered patients along with a viral load of ≥1000 (p = 0.000). Sample Size and Characteristics. We recruited seventy-four HIV patients on 2nd-line ART; 33 coinfected with TB were followed for at least 12 months. Conclusion. In HIV-/TB-coinfected patients, CD4 count, CD4 gain, and VF remained comparable to HIV patients with no TB infection. ATT significantly affects the treatment outcome, suggesting drug-to-drug interactions. Background. Electronic medical record (EMR) systems have become essential for the proper management of patients' information. Electronic medical record systems are on the rise in developing countries due to the need to ensure improved quality of healthcare. However, EMR systems can be ignored, if users are not satisfied with the implemented system. User dissatisfaction has been associated with the failure of EMR systems as a primary factor. There is also limited research done in the Ethiopian context on EMR user satisfaction at private hospitals. This study is aimed at assessing user satisfaction with electronic medical records and associated factors among health professionals working at private hospitals in Addis Ababa. Methods. Institution-based cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted among health professionals working at private hospitals in Addis Ababa, from March to April 2021. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. EpiData version 4.6 and Stata version 25 were used for data entry and analysis, respectively. Descriptive analyses were computed for the study variables. Bivariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were carried out to assess the significance of independent variables on dependent variables. Results. A total of 403 (95.33% response rate) participants completed all the questionnaires. More than half of 214 (53.10%) of the participants were satisfied with the EMR system. Factors associated with user satisfaction with electronic medical records were good computer literacy (AOR = 2.92 , 95% CI: [1.16-7.37]), perceived information quality (AOR = 3.54 , 95% CI: [1.55-8.11]), perceived service quality (AOR = 3.15 , 95% CI: [1.58-6.28]), perceived system quality (AOR = 3.05 , 95% CI: [1.32-7.05]), EMR training (AOR = 4.00 , 95% CI: [1.76-9.03]), computer access (AOR = 3.17 , 95% CI: [1.19-8.46]), and HMIS training (AOR = 2.05 , 95% CI: [1.22-6.71]). Conclusions. In this study, health professionals' EMR satisfaction was moderate. The result showed that EMR training, computer literacy, computer access, perceived system quality, information quality, service quality, and HMIS training were associated with user satisfaction. Improving computer-related training, system quality, information quality, and service quality is an important intervention to improve the healthcare professional's satisfaction towards using electronic health record systems in Ethiopia. Objective. The study sought to determine the diagnostic accuracy of body adiposity index (BAI) and relative fat mass (RFM) to predict BIA-derived BFP among patients with type 2 diabetes in the Ho municipality. Materials and Method. This hospital-based cross-sectional study involved 236 patients with type 2 diabetes. Demographic data, including age and gender were obtained. Height, waist circumference (WC), and hip circumference (HC) were measured using standard methods. BFP was estimated on a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) scale. The validity of BAI and RFM as alternative estimates for BIA-derived BFP was evaluated based on mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), Passing-Bablok regression, Bland-Altman plots, receiver-operating characteristic curve (ROC), and kappa statistics analyses. A p value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results. BAI showed systematic bias in estimating BIA-derived BFP in both genders, but this was not evident between RFM and BFP among females (t = − 0.62 ; p = 0.534). While BAI showed "good" predictive accuracy in both genders, RFM exhibited "high" predictive accuracy for BFP (MAPE: 7.13%; 95% CI: 6.27-8.78) among females according to MAPE analysis. From the Bland-Altman plot analysis, the mean difference between RFM and BFP was acceptable among females [0.3 (95% LOA: -10.9 to 11.5)], but both BAI and RFM recorded large limits of agreement and low Lin's concordance correlation coefficient with BFP (Pc < 0.90) in the two gender populations. The optimal cut-off, sensitivity, specificity, and Youden index for RFM were >27.2, 75%, 93.75%, and 0.69, respectively, while those of BAI were >25.65, 80%, 84.37%, and 0.64, respectively, among males. Among females, the values for RFM were >27.26, 92.57%, 72.73%, and 0.65, whereas those of BAI were >29.4, 90.74%, 70.83%, and 0.62, respectively. The accuracy of discriminating between BFP levels was higher among females [BAI (AUC: 0.93) and RFM (AUC: 0.90)] compared to males [BAI (AUC: 0.86) and RFM (AUC: 0.88)]. Conclusion. RFM had a better predictive accuracy of BIA-derived BFP in females. However, both RFM and BAI failed as valid estimates for BFP. Furthermore, gender-specific performance in the discrimination of BFP levels for RFM and BAI was observed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives. Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) contributes to poor aneurysm prognosis. Subarachnoid hemorrhage and DCI have irreversible and severe consequences once they occur; therefore, early prediction and prevention are important. We investigated the risk factors for postoperative complications of DCI in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) requiring mechanical ventilation in intensive care and validated a prediction model. Methods. We retrospectively analyzed patients with aSAH who were treated in a French university hospital neuro-ICU between January 2010 and December 2015. The patients were randomized into a training group (144) and verification groups (60). Nomograms were validated in the training and verification groups, where receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to verify model discrimination; calibration curve and Hosmer-Lemeshow test were used to determine model calibration; and decision curve analysis (DCA) was used to verify clinical validity of the model. Results. External ventricular drain (EVD), duration of mechanical ventilation, and treatment were significantly associated in the univariate analysis; EVD and rebleeding were significantly associated with the occurrence of DCI after aSAH. Binary logistic regression was used to select five clinicopathological characteristics to predict the occurrence of DCI in patients with aSAH requiring mechanical ventilation nomograms of the risk of DCI. Area under the curve values for the training and verification groups were 0.768 and 0.246, with Brier scores of 0.166 and 0.163, respectively. Hosmer-Lemeshow calibration test values for the training and verification groups were x 2 = 3.824 (P = 0.923) and x 2 = 10.868 (P = 0.285), respectively. Calibration curves showed good agreement. DCA indicated that the training and verification groups showed large positive returns in the broad risk range of 0-77% and 0-63%, respectively. Conclusions. The predictive model of concurrent DCI in aSAH has theoretical and practical values and can provide individualized treatment options for patients with aSAH who require mechanical ventilation. Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a tool used to assess fundamental movement patterns. There are relationships between musculoskeletal fitness (MSF) and a FMS. However, there is limited data regarding the multidimensional associations between these two constructs. This study is aimed at investigating the associations and detailed structures of FMS components and MSF components and identifying a deeper detailed structure of their relations to physical fitness. The study sample included 114 physically active men with an average body height of 1.81 ± 0.07 (cm), body weight of 80.61 ± 9.49 (kg), and a BMI of 24.65 ± 2.46 (kg/m2). Each participant performed a FMS test, sit-and-reach (S&R) test, sit-ups (ABS) evaluation, balance evaluation on an AMTI platform, handgrip strength (HG) testing, and standing broad jump (SBJ) ability. The Kendall's Tau correlation was performed to identify simple associations between FMS and MSF. Cluster analysis was used to determine the multidimensional nature of the relationships. In the vast majority, a positive correlation was observed suggesting that a high level of MSF improved FMS test results. A cluster analysis revealed 4 separate clusters. Shoulder mobility (SM) was identified as a single cluster. A strong similarity was observed between SBJ and trunk stability push-up (TSPU) forming a second cluster. This cluster joined to another consisting of the S&R test and active straight leg raise (ASLR) test. The last cluster consisted of HG and hurdle step (HS). Background. Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) has an extremely high fatality rate worldwide, and survival after metastasis is extremely poor. Cytokine-like protein 1 (CYTL1) has prognostic significance in various tumors. We aimed to explore the impact and underlying molecular mechanisms of CYTL1 in STAD through bioinformatics analysis. Methods. We used R software to analyze CYTL1 expression in STAD samples (n = 375) and normal samples (n = 32) in The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Kaplan–Meier analysis was used to verify the relationship between CYTL1 expression and overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) based on the clinical characteristics and subgroups of patients with STAD. Furthermore, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to verify the outcome variables of OS and DSS in patients with STAD. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to test the predictive power of CYTL1. The biological functions and signaling pathways of CYTL1 were determined using gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), and the immune infiltration patterns of CYTL1 and correlation of immune-related markers were analyzed using single-sample GSEA (ssGSEA) and an estimate algorithm. Results. In our research, low CYTL1 expression (tumor vs. normal) was noted in patients with STAD. High CYTL1 expression was detrimental to OS and DSS and had good diagnostic performance (AUC = 0.731). In the subtype analysis of STAD, T3 and T4 stages, N0 and N1 stages, M0 stage, gender (female), and age (≤65 years) showed different performances between OS and DSS. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses identified CYTL1 as an independent factor, and logistic regression analysis indicated that CYTL1 was associated with M stage (OR = 3.406) and sex (OR = 1.535). GSEA of the differential genes of CYTL1 showed the possible involvement of immunity. ssGSEA and estimation algorithms were used to further evaluate whether immune cells were closely related to CYTL1 expression, and many markers of immune cells also had statistical significance with the expression of CYTL1. Background. Pancreatic cancer (PAAD) is a malignant tumor with a poor prognosis and lacks sensitive biomarkers for diagnosis and targeted therapy. Cuproptosis, a recently proposed form of cell death based on cellular copper ion concentration, plays a key role in cancer biology. This study is aimed at constructing a risk model for predicting the prognosis of PAAD patients based on cuproptosis-related genes. Methods. Pancreatic-related data from UCSC-TCGA and UCSC-GTEx databases were extracted for analysis, and TCGA-PAAD samples were randomly divided into the training and validation groups. Pearson correlation analysis was used to obtain cuproptosis-related genes coexpressed with 19 copper death genes. Univariate Cox and Lasso regression analyses were used to obtain cuproptosis-related prognostic genes. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to construct the final prognostic risk model. The risk score curve, Kaplan-Meier survival curves, and ROC curve were used to evaluate the predictive ability of the Cox risk model. Finally, the functional annotation of the risk model was obtained through enrichment analysis. Results. The Cox risk model has an eight prognostic cuproptosis-related gene signature. Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated that the high-risk group had a shorter survival time. The ROC curve of the risk score was well created to predict one-, three-, and five-year survival rates, and AUC of the risk score was higher than other clinical characteristics. Cox regression analysis revealed that the risk score has an independent prognostic value for PAAD. GSEA reveals specific tumor pathways associated with the risk model (Myc targets v1, mTORC1 signaling, and E2F targets). Conclusions. We constructed a prognostic model containing eight cuproptosis-related genes (AKR1B10, KLHL29, PROM2, PIP5K1C, KIF18B, AMIGO2, MRPL3, and PI4KB) that can accurately predict the prognosis of PAAD patients. Objectives. This study is aimed at exploring the feasibility of sonoelastography on muscle stiffness of spastic forearm and evaluating the improvement of functional performance in patients with poststroke spasticity (PSS) after receiving kinesiotaping (KT) and rehabilitation. Methods. According to the spastic levels (using modified Ashworth scale (MAS)) of the affected upper extremity, 59 patients with stroke were allocated into two groups, group A (MAS 0–1): 31 patients (14 men and 17 women; mean age: 60 years) and group B (MAS 1+–2): 28 patients (22 men and 6 women; mean age: 51 years). The Brunnstrom motor recovery stage at the wrist/distal parts in groups A and B was stage 3/3.5 and stage 2.75/3. We evaluated the Brunnstrom stage, spastic levels by MAS and modified Tardieu scale (MTS), and Fugl-Meyer Assessment for upper extremity (FMA-UE). We also evaluated the muscle spasticity of flexor carpi radialis (FCR), flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU), and flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) muscles using sonoelastography with shear wave velocity (SWV). We applied KT for 20 patients in group B, comparing the changes in sonoelastography and functional outcomes between KT and without KT interventions. Results. Both the MAS and MTS scales were moderately correlated with the SWV in forearm muscles on hemiplegic side (r = 0.336 – 0.554) After KT intervention, the SWV in FCR decreased (p = 0.028). Muscle spasticity was reduced (p < 0.01), and distal part of the Brunnstrom stage and FMA-UE were increased (p = 0.045 and p = 0.001). In patients without KT intervention, only the MTS degree reduced (p = 0.026). Conclusions. The SWV of sonoelastography could objectively assess the reduction of muscle stiffness of the affected forearms in patients with PSS after KT intervention. Advances in Knowledge. Objective. To establish and validate a nomogram to predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) receiving radiotherapy by integrating multiple independent prognostic factors. Materials and Methods. Data from 5663 patients with NPC who received definite radiotherapy between 2004 and 2018 were included and divided into training and validation cohorts. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to determine the independent prognostic factors of patients with NPC after radiotherapy. Thereafter, the predictive accuracy of the nomogram model was evaluated. Results. Age, race, marital status, pathological type, tumor size, T stage, N stage, M stage, American Joint Committee on Cancer stage, and chemotherapy were independent factors affecting the prognosis of patients with NPC receiving radiotherapy. Nomograms with a concordance index of 0.726 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.675–0.777) and 0.732 (95% CI: 0.680–0.785) were able to predict OS and CSS, respectively. The area under the curve showed excellent predictive performance. Additionally, the calibration curve indicated that the predicted survival rate was consistent with the actual survival rate, and the decision curve indicated its clinical value. The established risk stratification system was able to accurately stratify patients receiving radiotherapy for NPC into three risk subgroups with significant differences in prognosis (P < 0.05). Conclusions. The constructed nomogram had good prognostic performance and could be used as an effective tool to evaluate the prognosis of patients with NPC after radiotherapy. Background. This study is aimed at constructing a nomogram to predict the risk of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) based on the aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI) and prostate imaging-reporting and data system version (PIRADS) score. Methods. Clinical data on patients who had undergone initial prostate biopsy from January 2019 to December 2021 were collected. Patients were randomized in a 7 : 3 ratio to the training cohort and the validation cohort. Potential risk factors for csPCa were identified by univariable and multivariate logistic regression. Nomogram was conducted with these independent risk factors, and calibration curves, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC), and decision curve analysis (DCA) were employed to assess the nomogram's ability for prediction. Results. A total of 1219 patients were enrolled in this study. Multivariate logistic regression identified that age, AISI, total prostatic specific-antigen (tPSA), free to total PSA (f/tPSA), prostate volume (PV), and PIRADS score were potential risk predictors of csPCa, and the nomogram was developed based on these factors. The area under the curve (AUC) of the training cohort and validation cohort was 0.884 (95% CI: 0.862-0.906) and 0.899 (95% CI: 0.867-0.931). The calibration curves showed that the apparent curves were closer to the ideal curves. The DCA results revealed that the nomogram model seemed to have clinical application value per DCA. Conclusion. Background and Purpose. Approximately one-third of patients with acute ischemic stroke experience early neurological deterioration (END). Multiple mechanisms lead to END, and progressive infarction (PI) representing extension of the original infarction is the most common type. Lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) has been reported to be associated with stroke, cancer, and cardiovascular disease, but no relationship with PI has been reported. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between LMR and PI. Methods. From April 2017 to December 2020, we retrospectively recruited 477 patients with acute ischemic stroke (within 48 hours after onset). Progressive infarction was defined as an increase of ≥1 point in motor power or ≥2 points on the total National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 7 days after admission and extension of the original infarction were further confirmed by diffusion-weighted imaging. Demographic characteristics, clinical information, and neuroimaging characteristics were evaluated after admission. All blood draws and initial imaging were completed within 24 hours of admission. Results. PI occurred in 147 (30.8%) patients. Univariate analysis comparing the two groups revealed that hypertension, initial NIHSS score, discharge NIHSS score, modified Rankin scale score at 90 days, monocyte level, creatinine level, fasting glucose level, LMR, monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR), and lesion location were significantly different (P < 0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratio of PI increased as the quartile of LMR increased, with the lowest quartile as the reference value. Subgroup analyses showed that a high LMR was an independent predictor of PI only in large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) patients. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to estimate the predictive value of LMR for PI. For all cases, the area under the curve was 0.583 (95% CI 0.526-0.641), and the best predictive cutoff value was 3.506, with a sensitivity of 53.1% and a specificity of 63.9%. In patients with LAA, the area under the curve was 0.585 (95% CI 0.505-0.665), and the best predictive cutoff value was 3.944, with a sensitivity of 48.7% and a specificity of 72.8%. Conclusions. Background. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of E2F4 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and clarify its influence on immune cell infiltration and biological functions. Methods. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, the STRING database, and related online tools as well as single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) were used for the analyses in our study. Results. The E2F4 expression was elevated in OSCC tumor tissue compared with paracancerous tissues. The high expression of E2F4 was closely related to the poorer overall survival, disease-free survival, and progression-free interval of OSCC. In addition, pathway enrichment analyses revealed that the top 49 genes most closely related to E2F4 were strongly associated with the cell cycle. E2F4-related proteins were closely related to the following KEGG pathways: cell cycle, cellular senescence, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway, and notch signaling pathway. It was also demonstrated that the E2F4 expression was negatively correlated with immune purity and strongly related to immune cell infiltration in OSCC. Conclusions. Purpose. This investigation seeks to elucidate the potential prognostic significance as well as the clinical utility of the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score in breast cancer patients. Methods. Breast cancer patients managed in our center between January 2010 and December 2016 were recruited for our study. They comprised 187 patients who did not undergo neoadjuvant chemotherapy and 194 who did. A receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was utilized in identifying the ideal cut-off CONUT value. This cut-off score was then used to reclassify patients into those with high CONUT scores (≥1) and low CONUT scores (<1). The outcomes were analyzed by statistical methods. Results. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression survival analyses revealed that a CONUT score cut-off of 1 was able to significantly predict duration of disease-free survival (DFS) (p < 0.001 ; hazard ratio [HR]: 3.184; 95% CI: 1.786-5.677; and p < 0.001 ; HR: 2.465; 95% CI: 1.642-3.700) and overall survival (OS) (p < 0.001 ; HR: 2.326; 95% CI: 1.578-3.429; and p < 0.001 ; HR: 2.775; 95% CI: 1.791-4.300). The mean DFS and OS in those with lower CONUT scores were 41.59 (95% CI: 37.66-45.51 months) and 77.34 months (95% CI: 71.79-82.90 months), respectively. On the other hand, the average DFS and OS for all individuals in the raised CONUT score group were 39.18 (95% CI: 34.41-43.95 months) and 71.30 months (95% CI: 65.47-77.12 months), respectively. Moreover, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed that those in the raised CONUT score cohort had remarkably worse DFS and OS survival rates compared to individuals in the low CONUT score cohort (Log-rank test, DFS: χ 2 = 12.900 , p = 0.0003 , and OS: χ 2 = 16.270 , p < 0.0001). Conclusion. The survival times of breast cancer patients may be reliably predicted using the CONUT score. The aim of this paper was to explore the mechanism of bladder meridian massage (BMM) on anxiety in rats with chronic stress. Chronic stress induced rats to establish rat anxiety model. The sugar water preference (SPF), tail suspension time (TST), and forced swimming time (FST) of rats were measured. The levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and inflammatory cytokines in serum and hippocampus of rats were detected. Brain neurotransmitters (dopamine (DA), 5- hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), and norepinephrine (NE)) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits. Immunohistochemistry and western blotting were used to detect autophagy protein expression in hippocampus of rats. BMM significantly increased SPF, decreased TST and FST, increased SOD level in serum and hippocampus, and decreased MDA level and cytokine level. BMM reversed the changes of neurotransmitters. At the same time, BMM significantly decreased autophagy protein expression in hippocampus of rats. The above results show that BMM significantly relieve anxiety induced by chronic stress in rats. Background. The most numerous cells in the tumor microenvironment, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play a crucial role in cancer development. Our objective was to develop a cancer-associated fibroblast breast cancer predictive model. Methods. We acquire breast cancer (BC) scRNA-seq data from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), and "Seurat" was used for data processing, including quality control, filtering, principal component analysis, and t-SNE. Afterward, "singleR" software was used to annotate cells. Seurat's "FindAllMarkers" program is used to locate particular CAF markers. clusterProfiler was used to analyze Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database was utilized to provide univariate Cox regression, least absolute shrinkage operator (LASSO) analysis using bulk RNA-seq data. For model development, multivariate Cox regression studies are used. Utilizing pRRophetic and Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) algorithms, chemosensitivity and immunotherapy response were predicted. The "rms" software was used to facilitate and simplify modeling. Results. Integrating the scRNA-seq (GSE176078) dataset yielded 28 cell clusters. In addition, well-known cell types helped identify 12 cell types. We found 193 marker genes that are elevated in CAFs. In addition, a five-gene predictive model associated to CAF was created in the training set. In the training set, the validation set, and the external validation set, greater risk scores were associated with a worse prognosis. And individuals with a higher risk score were more susceptible to immunotherapy and conventional chemotherapy medicines. Conclusion. In conclusion, we establish a strong prognostic model comprised of 5 genes related with CAF that might serve as a potent prognostic indicator and aid clinicians in making more rational medication choices. Objective. The effect of vaginal microbiota on spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) has not been fully addressed, and few studies have explored the associations between vaginal taxa and sPTB in the gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and non-GDM groups, respectively. Study Design. To minimize external interference, a total of 41 pregnant women with sPTB and 308 controls (pregnant women without sPTB) from same regain were enrolled in this case-cohort study. Controls were randomly selected at baseline. With the exception of GDM, other characteristics were not significantly different between the two groups. Vaginal swabs were collected at early second trimester. Using 16S amplicon sequencing, the main bioinformatics analysis was performed on the platform of QIIME 2. Vaginal microbiota traits of the sPTB group were compared with controls. Finally, the effects of binary taxa on sPTB in the GDM group and the non-GDM group were analyzed, respectively. Results. The proportion of GDM in the sPTB (19.51%) was higher than the controls (7.47%, P = 0.018). The vaginal microbiota of pregnant women with sPTB exhibited higher alpha diversity metrics (observed features, P = 0.001 ; Faith's phylogenetic diversity, P = 0.013) and different beta diversity metrics (unweighted UniFrac, P = 0.006 ; Jaccard's distance, P = 0.004), compared with controls. The presence of Lactobacillus paragasseri/gasseri (aOR: 3.12, 95% CI: 1.24-7.84), Streptococcus (aOR: 3.58, 95% CI: 1.68-7.65), or Proteobacteria (aOR: 3.39, 95% CI: 1.55-7.39) was associated with an increased risk of sPTB in the non-GDM group (P < 0.05). However, the relative abundance of novel L. mulieris (a new species of the L. delbrueckii group) was associated with a decreased risk of sPTB (false discovery rate, 0.10) in all pregnant women. Conclusion. GDM may modify the association of vaginal taxa with sPTB, suggesting that maternal GDM should be considered when using vaginal taxa to identify pregnant women at high risk of sPTB. Objective. To evaluate the incidence and risk factors for complications following volar locking plate (VLP) fixation of unstable distal radius fracture (DRF). Methods. This retrospective study identified patients who underwent VLP fixation of unstable DRF between 2017 and 2020 with a minimum 12-month follow-up assessments. By reviewing electronic medical records and follow-up notes, patients were categorized complication or noncomplication group. Differences in variables were detected by using univariate analyses, and independent factors were identified using multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results. During this study period, 423 patients were included, and 63 (rate, 14.9%) complications in 58 patients were documented. Wound infection (17, 4.0%) was most common, followed in decreasing frequency by carpal tunnel syndrome (13, 3.1%), tendon rupture/irritation (10, 2.4%), complex regional pain syndrome (8, 1.9%), and plate/screw-related complications (5, 1.7%). In the univariate analyses, 18 variables were found to be significantly different (p < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis identified 5 independent factors, including being male (OR, 3.5; p = 0.014), type C fracture (vs. type A, OR: 2.7, and p = 0.035), general anesthesia (vs. regional, OR: 2.4, and p = 0.045), bone grafting (OR, 6.3; p < 0.001), and surgery performed by less experienced surgeons (OR, 3.1; p = 0.003). The goodness-of-fit of the final model was acceptable. Conclusions. These factors will help surgeons individualize and stratify the risk of complications and help patients for risk counselling; especially, an informed clinical decision targeting those modifiable factors (anesthesia mode, bone grafting, and surgeon experience) can be considered, when indicated. Glutaminyl cyclase (QC) is responsible for converting the N-terminal glutaminyl and glutamyl of the proteins into pyroglutamate (pE) through cyclization. It has been confirmed that QC catalyzes the formation of neurotoxic pE-modified Aβ in the brain of AD patients. But the effects of upregulated QC in diverse diseases have not been much clear until recently. Here, RNA sequencing was applied to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in PC12 cells with QC overexpressing or knockdown. A total of 697 DEGs were identified in QC overexpressing cells while only 77 in QC knockdown cells. Multiple bioinformatic approaches revealed that the DEGs in QC overexpressing group were enriched in endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) related signaling pathways. The gene expression patterns of 23 DEGs were confirmed by RT-qPCR, in which the genes related to ERS showed the highest consistency. We also revealed the protein levels of GRP78, PERK, CHOP, and PARP-1, and caspase family was significantly upregulated by overexpressing QC. Moreover, overexpressing QC significantly increased apoptosis of PC12 cells in a time dependent manner. However, no significant alteration was observed in QC knockdown cells. This study is aimed at examining the prognostic value of blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Demographic and clinical data of 543 HCC patients treated with interventional therapies were retrospectively analyzed. Preoperative NLRs were determined and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted for survival time in patients with high (NLR ≥3.8) and low (NLR<3.8) NLR. The median overall survival (OS) was 1241 days after interventional therapies and was significantly reduced in the high NLR group when compared to the low NLR group. The median progression-free survival time (PFST) of patients was also significantly shorter in the high NLR group than in the low NLR group. Univariate analysis revealed that tumor type, therapy method, maximum tumor size (>3 mm), and NLR (>3.8) were risk factors for OST and PFST (P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis indicated that tumor type, maximum tumor diameter, therapy method, and NLR (>3.8) were independent risk factors for PFST (P < 0.05). Convolvulus arvensis L. is rich in phenolic compounds and traditionally used to treat wounds, skin ulcer, and inflammation. The current study is aimed at scientifically potentiating its traditional wound healing use. The methanolic extract of C. arvensis stem (CaME) was analyzed for HPLC and GC-MS analyses. The binding modes of active compounds were investigated against protein targets glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), c-myc, and β-catenin by molecular docking followed by molecular dynamic simulations which revealed some conserved mode of binding as reported in crystal structures. The antioxidant potential of CaME was evaluated by in vitro methods such as 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, hydrogen peroxide scavenging, and ferric reducing power assays. Ointment formulations of 10 and 20% CaME were applied topically and evaluated for wound healing potency against the excisional wound on the skin of Wistar rats. Gentamycin (0.1%) served as standard therapy. The healing process was observed for 20 days in the form of wound size and epithelialization followed by histopathological evaluation of the wound area. Chemical characterization showed the presence of 7-hexadecenoic acid, 2-hexadecylicosan-1-ol, quercetin, gallic acid, ferulic acid, and other compounds. The plant extract exhibited significant in vitro antioxidant activity. The animals treated with 10% ointment showed moderate healing, whereas the treatment with 20% CaME revealed healing potential comparable to the standard 0.1% gentamycin as coevidenced from histopathological evaluation of skin. The study corroborates promising potential of C. arvensis on the healing of wounds, which possibly will be attributed to its antioxidant activity, fatty acids, quercetin, and gallic and caffeic acids, and binding potential of its phytoconstituents (phenolic acids) with wound healing targets. Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common problem in elderly patients. They are often troubled with altered knee function, such as pain and weakness. However, not all these patients are able to receive autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as they may be taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications. Their physical condition may not allow them to receive total knee replacement surgery as well. Long-term oral intake of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may be detrimental to the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, it is crucial to discover new treatment options that can alleviate painful knee symptoms in elderly knee OA patients. In this study, 19 elderly patients diagnosed with moderate degree of knee OA as well as suprapatellar bursitis were recruited. They received low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to their affected knees. Under ultrasound guidance, flexible fiber optic wire was inserted intra-articularly into the knee joint. Red laser followed by infrared irradiation was performed once every 2 weeks for a total of 3 times. The Lequesne index for knee OA and the volume of suprapatellar synovial fluid (SF) were measured. SF proteomic analyses were also performed up to a period of 6 months. The results revealed that after 3 LLLT, the Lequesne index significantly decreased, signifying improvement in the knee joint functional status. The volume of suprapatellar SF and SF proteins associated with inflammation also decreased significantly in the SF. These findings lasted up to a period of at least 3 months. Therefore, LLLT may be considered as a feasible option in treating elderly patients with knee OA who are not suitable for surgical interventions or intra-articular PRP injections. We aimed to determine prognostic factors and develop an effective and practical nomogram for predicting cancer-specific survival in gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) patients. Postoperative data were obtained from the SEER database (2000-2018). Patients were divided into training and validation cohorts at random (7 : 3). Prognostic factors were screened, and a prognostic nomogram was established using log-rank testing and Cox regression. We used DCA, ROC curves, C-index, and calibration curves to evaluate our model's predictive performance. The clinical value of the nomogram and the modified National Institute of Health (M-NIH) classification were compared using the NRI and IDI. The Kaplan-Meier method was applied to examine survival by risk group, and log-rank tests were applied to compare variations in survival curves. Independent prognostic risk factors associated with cancer-specific survival on multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis were age, race, and tumor location, size, grade, and stage. Clinically relevant variables need to be considered in addition to statistically significant variables when developing prognostic models to aid clinical decision-making. We included two additional variables (mitotic rate and chemotherapy) when constructing the prognostic model. The C-index was 0.766 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.737-0.794) in the training cohort and 0.795 (95% CI: 0.754-0.836) in the internal validation group suggesting robustness. The areas under the ROC curve for three-year and five-year survival were >0.700, indicating satisfactory discrimination. The calibration curves showed good agreement between the predictions of the nomogram and the actual results. The NRI (0.346 for 3-year and 0.265 for 5-year cancer-specific survival for patients with GIST (GSS) prediction; validation cohort: 0.356 for 3-year and 0.246 for 5-year GSS prediction) and IDI values (0.047 for 3-year and 0.060 for 5-year GSS prediction; validation cohort: 0.071 for 3-year and 0.084 for 5-year GSS prediction) suggested that the established nomogram performed significantly better than the M-NIH classification. The DCA indicated that the nomogram was clinically useful and had a high discriminative ability in identifying patients who were at high risk of poor outcomes. According to nomogram findings, patients were divided into three groups (high, moderate, and low risk), with significantly different prognoses in both cohorts. Objective. To evaluate different concentrations of solvents (tetrahydrofuran (THF) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and monomers on the degree of conversion, microtensile bond strength, and mechanical properties of experimental resin infiltrants. Materials and Methods. Resin infiltrants were formulated and divided into eleven groups: (1) Icon, (2) 75% TEGDMA (T) +25% UDMA (U), (3) T +25% BIS-EMA (B), (4) T + U +0.5%DMSO, (5) T + U +5% DMSO, (6) T + U +0.5% THF, (7) T + U +5% THF, (8) T + B +0.5% DMSO, (9) T + B +5% DMSO, (10) T + B +0.5% THF, and (11) T + B +5% THF. One hundred and ten bovine mandibular incisors were sectioned, treated, and destined to the degree of conversion, tensile cohesive strength, microtensile bond strength, flexural strength, and elastic modulus. Data were submitted to one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05). Results. The degree of conversion was lowest for T + B +5%THF (41.9%) and highest for T + U +5%THF (62.1%). In flexural strength and E-modulus, the T + B (96.5 MPa and 0.49 GPa) obtained the highest values and the lowest for T + U +5% DMSO (18.5 MPa and 9.7 GPa). Icon showed the highest bond strength (19.3 MPa) and cohesive strength (62.2 MPa), while T + U +5%DMSO (9.7 MPa) and T + B +5% DMSO (9.8 MPa) the lowest values and T + B +0.5% DMSO (12.3 MPa) the lowest cohesive strength. The addition of lower concentrations of DMSO or THF (0.5%) did not impair bond strength or significantly affect monomer conversion, but reduced the mechanical properties of resin infiltration. The artemisinin partial resistance is believed to be spread to artemisinin-based combination therapy partner drugs. As a result, new antiplasmodial compounds are required to treat resistant malaria infections. In the invention of antimalarial substances, claimed medical plants are precious resources. So, the current study was designed to assess the antiplasmodial effects of Maesa lanceolata in mice. In this study, preliminary phytoconstituent and in vivo acute oral toxicity tests were done. Early infection, established infection, and residual infection tests were employed to determine the antimalarial effects of the test drugs. Three doses (200, 400, and 600 mg/kg) of the extracts were provided orally to the test mice. Analysis of variance (one-way) followed by post hoc Tukey's test was used to analyze the difference between and within groups. Terpenoids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids were detected in the phytochemical constituent analysis. Both 80% methanolic crude extract and solvent fractions had no toxic result at the 2000 mg/kg dose. All test drug doses suppressed parasite levels in a significant manner at all tests. The activity of chloroform fraction (maximum percentage suppression, 81.28%) overwhelms the crude extract activity. The curative effects of 80% methanolic crude extract, with a maximum of 80.22% parasitemia suppression, were greater than its suppressive and prophylactic effects. The 400 mg/kg dose of chloroform fraction resulted in a maximum survival period (18 days) than other doses of tested materials. Baicalin (BA) is a major flavone from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and has showed significant curative effects in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. In the present study, we investigated the effects of BA on antineuroinflammation and related signaling cascade in lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) induced BV-2 microglial model. The results showed that BA significantly attenuated inflammatory mediators (NO, iNOS, IL-1β, COX-2, and PGE2) and suppressed the expression of miR-155. More crucially, BA could regulate the expression of related proteins in Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/myeloid differentiation protein 88 (MyD88)/nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) pathway and suppress the phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family. In addition, molecular docking analysis indicated that BA binds to the amino acids Lie 63 and Tyr 65 of TLR4 by π - σ and π - π T-shaped interaction. Thus, BA suppressed the LPS-stimulated neuroinflammation in BV-2 microglia by blocking the TLR4-mediated signal transduction through TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB and MAPK pathways and inhibiting the miR-155 expression. Objectives. The jaw angle plays an important role in facial beauty. Therefore, this study is aimed at comparatively determining the range of most attractive female intergonial widths and gonial heights on Perceptometric frontal-view and three-quarter-view images, from the perspective of orthodontists, oral maxillofacial (OMF) surgeons, and laypeople of different ages and sexes. Methods. This prospective multivariate Perceptometric study was performed on 4191 esthetic scores given by 127 individuals to 33 Perceptometric face images. Frontal view and three-quarter-view photographs of a normal young woman were modified by image editing software to create two Perceptometric sets, one for the 24 gradual changes of intergonial width on the frontal view, and the other for the 9 vertical changes of the jaw angle on the three-quarter view. An online questionnaire was designed including 24 frontal and 9 oblique view photographs. The questionnaires' internal consistencies were almost perfect. Enrolled were 127 raters, including 33 orthodontists, 32 OMF surgeons, and 62 laypeople. The esthetics of different images were compared across different professions, across different ages, and between the sexes using 2-way MANCOVA, ANCOVA, and Bonferroni; the zones of esthetic jaw angles and also the sensitivity of judges to Perceptometric anatomical changes were assessed using 2-way RM-ANCOVA and Bonferroni (α = 0.05 , α = 0.0056 , α = 0.0021 , and β = 0.05). Results. Orthodontists and surgeons gave the highest attractiveness scores to intergonial: interzygomatic ratio of 72.53%, while the best ratio was 74.45% for the laypeople. The range of beautiful intergonial is as follows: interzygomatic ratio was 72.53% to 86.03%. OMF surgeons and orthodontists gave the highest score to a gonial height of 4.5 mm above the mouth corner, while the laypeople gave the highest score to the gonial height of 4.5 mm below the mouth corner. The range of beautiful gonial height was from 4.5 mm above the mouth corner to 9 mm below the mouth corner. The education of observers may affect their perception of beauty; orthodontists tended differ from laypeople, overall and also specifically in the case of the highly attractive frontal images concerning the intergonial width changes. However, no such differences were detected between surgeons with orthodontists or laypeople. Although age did not affect the overall esthetic scores, it did affect the sensitivity of the judges to the anatomic changes. So did expertise, i.e., the expertise of judges affected their sensitivity to anatomical changes; orthodontists showed steeper slopes of esthetic preference alterations to anatomical changes, while laypeople had the gentlest slope of preference changes. Judges' sex did not affect either their overall esthetic preferences or their sensitivity to anatomic changes. Conclusion. Narrower female jaw angles and jaw angles that are vertically close to the level of the mouth corner may be unanimously more desirable. Thus, treatments aiming at widening the jaw angle of a woman or lowering it should be discouraged, at least in Persians. Background and Aims. Abnormal expression of lncRNAs is relevant to the occurrence and development of gastric cancer (GC), but the significance remains inconclusive. We performed a diagnostic meta-bioinformatics analysis to elucidate the association between lncRNA expression and GC risk. Methods. Published datasets were selected from PubMed, Embase, CNKI, and Web of Science, up to 1st December 2021. The pooled sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and area under the curve (AUC) were calculated to evaluate the diagnostic value. RNA sequencing data were downloaded for validation. Results. 54 studies with 4671 patients and 4652 matched controls were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled SEN, SPE, PLR, NLR, DOR, and AUC were 0.71, 0.76, 2.9, 0.39, 8, and 0.79, respectively. Subgroup analyses showed that the DOR and AUC of intergenic lncRNAs, circulating lncRNAs, larger sample size (>200), and high-quality (NOS score ≥ 7) groups were superior to antisense lncRNAs, tissue lncRNAs, smaller sample size (≤200), and low-quality (NOS score < 7) groups, respectively. However, only circulating lncRNAs had significantly higher diagnostic utility than that tissue lncRNAs. Nine differentially expressed lncRNAs in the meta-analysis were verified in TCGA-STAD. PVT1 was the most effective single lncRNA, with AUC of 0.949, SEN of 0.808, and SPE of 0.969, while PVT1 and C5orf66-AS1 were the most effective combination, with AUC of 0.972, SEN of 0.941, and SPE of 0.937. Conclusion. Abnormally expressed lncRNAs, especially circulating lncRNAs, might be potential diagnostic biomarkers for GC risk. Objective. When compared with visual retrograde intramedullary nail placement in the femur, fluoroscopic retrograde intramedullary nail placement in the femur improved the accuracy of insertion. Methods. Ninety-six patients treated with retrograde intramedullary nailing of the femur for femoral fracture were included in this retrospective case-control study, including 48 patients treated with nailing under direct vision and 48 patients treated with nailing under fluoroscopy. Influencing factors potentially associated with the deviation of the needle insertion point on the coronal and sagittal planes (including the needle insertion method, use of limited open reduction, side, intramedullary nail diameter, mechanism of injury, and fracture classification) were analyzed univariately; then, the variables with a p value < 0.20 on univariate analysis were included in the linear regression equation to assess the independent factors associated with needle insertion point deviation. Results. On the coronal plane, the insertion point deviation in the visual nail placement group (1.11 ± 4.08 mm) was not significantly different (p = 0.13) from that in the fluoroscopic nail placement group − 0.44 ± 3.48 mm ; on the sagittal plane, the insertion point deviation in the visual nail placement group (4.91 ± 4.67 mm) was significantly greater than that in the fluoroscopic nail placement group (2.08 ± 2.97 mm) (p < 0.01). Visual nail placement was a risk factor for insertion point deviation on the sagittal plane compared with fluoroscopic nail placement (β = − 0.84 , p < 0.01). Conclusion. Compared with visual nail placement, fluoroscopic nail placement improves the accuracy of insertion on the sagittal plane, with no difference between the two methods on the coronal plane. Background. The use of low-temperature plasma (LTP) is a novel approach to treating peri-implantitis. LTP disrupts the biofilm while conditioning the surrounding host environment for bone growth around the infected implant. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial properties of LTP on newly formed (24 h), intermediate (3 days), and mature (7 days) peri-implant-related biofilms formed on titanium surfaces. Methods. Actinomyces naeslundii (ATCC 12104), Porphyromonas gingivalis (W83), Streptococcus oralis (ATCC 35037), and Veillonella dispar (ATCC 17748) were cultivated in brain heart infusion supplemented with 1% yeast extract, hemin (0.5 mg/mL), and menadione (5 mg/mL) and kept at 37°C in anaerobic conditions for 24 h. Species were mixed for a final concentration of ~105 colony forming units (CFU)/mL (OD = 0.01), and the bacterial suspension was put in contact with titanium specimens (7.5 mm in diameter by 2 mm in thickness) for biofilm formation. Biofilms were treated with LTP for 1, 3, and 5 min at 3 or 10 mm from plasma tip to sample. Controls were those having no treatment (negative control, NC) and argon flow under the same LTP conditions. Positive controls were those treated with 14 μg/mL amoxicillin and 140 μg/mL metronidazole individually or combined and 0.12% chlorhexidine (n = 6 per group). Biofilms were evaluated by CFU, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Comparisons among bacteria; 24 h, 3-day, and 7-day biofilms; and treatments for each biofilm were made. Wilcoxon signed-rank and Wilcoxon rank sum tests were applied (α = 0.05). Results. Bacterial growth was observed in all NC groups, corroborated by FISH. LTP treatment significantly reduced all bacteria species compared to the NC in all biofilm periods and treatment conditions (p ≤ 0.016), and CLSM corroborated these results. Conclusion. Background. Several cancers, including lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), are caused by genes related to necroptosis. However, it is still unknown how necroptosis-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) may be involved in LUAD. In order to predict the prognosis of LUAD patients and personalize immunotherapy, this study set out to construct a necroptosis-related lncRNA prognostic signature (NLPS). Methods. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database was used to download the LUAD transcriptome data and the associated clinical data. lncRNAs associated with necroptosis were screened using coexpression analysis. An NLPS was built using univariate and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analyses. The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database's GSE30219 was used to validate the NLPS. The prognostic value of the risk score was assessed using Kaplan-Meier survival, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) Cox regression, multivariate Cox regression, and nomogram analyses. Then, we looked into the differences between the low- and high-risk groups in the tumor immune microenvironment, immunotherapy response, and half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50). Results. The 14 lncRNAs in a novel NLPS were created. With further validation in the GSE30219 dataset, the risk score according to the NLPS was an independent prognostic indicator for LUAD patients. Patients with better overall survival (OS) in the low-risk group, who were characterized by increased immune cell infiltration, tumor mutational burden (TMB), and immunophenoscore (IPS), may have hot tumors and higher immunotherapy response rates. In addition, the risk score was also closely linked to sensitivity to various anticancer medications. Conclusions. Objective. Angiogenesis is one of the therapeutic targets of cerebral infarction. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) can regulate the pathological process of angiogenesis following ischemic stroke. Taurine-upregulated gene 1 (TUG1), an lncRNA, is correlated to ischemic stroke. We intended to determine the effect of TUG1 on angiogenesis following an ischemic stroke. Materials and Methods. Middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) was adopted to build a focal ischemic model of the rat brain, and pcDNA-TUG1 and miR-26a mimics were injected into rats. Neurological function was estimated through modified neurological severity scores. The volume of focal brain infarction was calculated through 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining. The level of TUG1 and miR-26a was measured by PCR. The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and CD31 was checked using immunohistochemistry and western blot. The correlation between miR-26a and TUG1 was verified through a luciferase reporter assay. Results. TUG1 increased noticeably while miR-26a was markedly reduced in MCAO rats. Overexpression of miR-26a improved neurological function recovery and enhanced cerebral angiogenesis in MCAO rats. TUG1 overexpression aggravated neurological deficits and suppressed cerebral angiogenesis in MCAO rats. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that miR-26a was one of the predicted targets of TUG1. Furthermore, TUG1 combined with miR-26a to regulate angiogenesis. TUG1 overexpression antagonized the role of miR-26a in neurological recovery and angiogenesis in MCAO rats. Conclusions. Phleboviruses transmitted by sandflies are among emerging public health threats. A novel Phlebovirus named Ntepes virus (NTPV) was recently described and found to infect humans from a wide geographic area in Kenya. However, the entomologic risk factors of this virus such as the potential vectors and the transmission cycles remain poorly defined. This study assessed the ability of the colonized sandfly Phlebotomus duboscqi to transmit NTPV and determined the bloodmeal host sources of field-collected sandflies from the area where NTPV was found in Baringo County, Kenya. Five-day old laboratory-reared P. duboscqi were orally challenged with an infectious dose of NTPV (≈106.0 pfu/ml) and incubated for up to 15 days postinfection. Individual sandflies were dissected into abdomens, legs, and salivary glands and screened for the virus infection by cell culture. Of the 205 virus-exposed sandflies, 19.5% developed non-disseminated infections in the midgut, with no evidence of virus dissemination or transmission in legs and salivary glands, respectively. The midgut infection rates decreased with increasing extrinsic incubation period (Spearman's correlation, ρ = − 0.71). Blood-fed specimens analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing of a region of the mitochondrial 12S rRNA, revealed almost exclusive feeding on humans (98%) represented by the sandflies Sergentomyia schwetzi, S. clydei, S. antennata, S. squamipleuris, S. africana, and Phlebotomus martini. One specimen of S. clydei had fed on cattle (2%). These findings suggest P. duboscqi is an incompetent laboratory vector of NTPV. The high human-feeding rate by diverse sandfly species increases the likelihood of human exposure to pathogens associated with these sandflies. Purpose. A non-invasive way of assessing post-transplant renal graft function has been needed. This study aimed to assess the micro-structural and micro-functional status of graft kidneys by using intravoxel incoherent motion- (IVIM-) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) to investigate delayed graft function (DGF) immediately after transplantation. Method. A prospective study was conducted on 37 patients, 14 with early graft function (EGF) and 23 with DGF (9 with complication, 14 without) who underwent IVIM-DWI, most often within 1-7 days after kidney transplantation. A total of 37 cases were collected and all the participants have been well-informed and signed their consents. In addition, the study conducted in this paper was approved by the Ethics Committee of Clinical Research, Taichung Veterans General Hospital (IRB number: CE14065). Using biexponential analysis of slow diffusion coefficient ( D slow ), fast diffusion coefficient ( D fast ), and perfusion fraction was performed. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) was calculated by use of a monoexponential model. All parameters were measured from three different regions-of-interest (ROI), covering the entire renal parenchyma, cortex, and medulla. Results. D slow , perfusion fraction, and ADC were significantly higher in patients with EGF than DGF (all p values values <0.001). Especially, ADC measured from ROI covering the entire kidney parenchyma had the best cut-off value (1.93μm2/msec) with the highest area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC 0.943) in differentiating EGF from DGF. For analysis of pair-wise differences, only the perfusion fraction values, measured from the ROI covering the renal cortex, were significantly higher in 14 DGF patients with no complications than in the 9 DGF patients with complications, with the best cut-off value of 12.3% and the AUC of 0.844. Conclusion. Noninvasive IVIM-DWI reliably differentiates DGF from EGF after kidney transplantation, and it may aid in identifying posttransplant complications and indications for renal biopsy. The effect of pyroptosis-related genes (PRGs) on the tumor microenvironment (TME) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains unclear. Thus, this study is aimed at evaluating the prognostic value of PRGs in patients with LUAD and to elucidate their role in the TME and their effect on immunotherapy. Transcriptomic and clinical data were obtained from the Cancer Genome Atlas and the Gene Expression Omnibus databases (GSE3141, GSE31210). Patients with LUAD were classified using consistent clustering, and the differences in the TME for each type were determined using the ESTIMATE and CIBERSORT algorithms. PRGs were screened using univariate regression analysis, and a prognostic risk model was constructed using LASSO regression analysis. The tumor mutational burden and the tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion algorithms were used to predict therapeutic sensitivity in LUAD patients. Then, we evaluated the potential therapeutic interventions using the GDSC database. LUAD patients in cluster 2 had significantly shorter overall survival and progression-free survival rates, lower immune scores, and higher infiltration of T follicular helper cells than those in cluster 1. We used five PRGs to classify patients with LUAD into different risks groups and found that the high-risk group is sensitive to immunotherapy; however, its immune-related pathways were inhibited, which may be related to tumor metabolic reprogramming. Lastly, we identified several potential therapeutic drugs for application in low-risk patients who were less sensitive to immunotherapy. The study of immune genes and immune cells is highly focused in recent years. To find immunological genes with prognostic value, the current study examines childhood acute myeloid leukemia according to gender. The TARGET database was used to gather the "mRNA expression profile data" and relevant clinical data of children with AML. To normalize processing and find differentially expressed genes (DEG) between male and female subgroups, the limma software package is utilized. We identified prognostic-related genes and built models using LASSO, multivariate Cox, and univariate Cox analysis. The prognostic significance of prognostic genes was then examined through the processing of survival analysis and risk score (RS) calculation. We investigated the connections between immune cells and prognostic genes as well as the connections between prognostic genes and medications. Objectives. The present ex vivo study is aimed at evaluating the antibacterial efficacy of chloroform, eucalyptol, orange oil, and xylene against E. faecalis biofilm during nonsurgical root canal retreatment. Materials and Methods. Eighty single-rooted teeth were instrumented. The samples were autoclaved, infected with E. faecalis for 4 weeks, and obturated with gutta-percha. Then the teeth were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n = 20): (1) chloroform, (2) eucalyptol, (3) orange oil, and (4) xylene. In all of the groups, gutta-percha removal was conducted according to the same protocol although the solvent used in each group was different. Bacterial samples were collected after gutta-percha removal and following additional apical enlargement. Intergroup and intragroup analyses were conducted using one-way ANOVA combined with the post hoc Tukey test and the paired-sample t -test, respectively. Statistical significance was set to 0.05. Results. All of the groups showed more than 99% bacterial load reduction. The least bacterial load after gutta-percha removal was observed in the chloroform group (p < 0.001). The orange oil group showed a significantly lower bacterial load compared to the eucalyptol group (p = 0.001), while it was not different from the xylene group (p = 0.953). The xylene group also had a significantly lower bacterial load compared with the eucalyptol group (p = 0.017). After apical enlargement, the chloroform group had a significantly lower bacterial load compared to the other groups. The comparison of bacterial load values before and after apical enlargement in the chloroform and eucalyptol groups showed a statistically significant difference ( p choloroform = 0.011 , p eucalyptol = 0.001). Conclusion. Chloroform was the most effective solvent in terms of antimicrobial activity against E. faecalis followed by orange oil and xylene, which were not significantly different though, and eucalyptol. All of the solvents showed more than 99% bacterial load reduction. Chloroform and xylene revealed to be associated with favorable antibiofilm activity among the examined solvents. Immune system dysregulation is associated with tumor incidence and growth. Here, we established an RNA-based individualized immune signature associated with prognosis for nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to guide adjuvant therapy. We downloaded publicly accessible data on RNA expression and clinical characteristics of NSCLC from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). From immune-related genes (IRGs) retrieved from the immunology database and analysis portal (ImmPort) database, we then screened differentially expressed immune-related genes (DEIRGs). Using overall survival (OS) as a clinical endpoint, we identified 26 prognostic DEIRGs via univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis, and then developed a risk model based on these 26 IRGs with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.701, and its predictive ability independent from other clinical factors. We also downloaded tumor immune infiltrate data and analyzed the correlations between lymphocytic infiltration with our risk scores, but found no significant association. Furthermore, we retrieved 86 differentially expressed transcription factors (TFs) to assess their regulatory relationships with the 26 prognostic DEIRGs. In summary, we developed a robust risk model to predict survival in patients with NSCLC, based on the expression of 26 IRGs. It provides novel predictive and therapeutic molecular targets. Huxley's model of simple allometry provides a parsimonious scheme for examining scaling relationships in scientific research, resource management, and species conservation endeavors. Factors including biological error, analysis method, sample size, and overall data quality can undermine the reliability of a fit of Huxley's model. Customary amendments enhance the complexity of the power function-conveyed systematic term while keeping the usual normality-borne error structure. The resulting protocols bear multiple-parameter complex allometry forms that could pose interpretative shortcomings and parameter estimation difficulties, and even being empirically pertinent, they could potentially bear overfitting. A subsequent heavy-tailed Q-Q normal spread often remains undetected since the adequacy of a normally distributed error term remains unexplored. Previously, we promoted the advantages of keeping Huxley's model-driven systematic part while switching to a logistically distributed error term to improve fit quality. Here, we analyzed eelgrass leaf biomass and area data exhibiting a marked size-related heterogeneity, perhaps explaining a lack of systematization at data gathering. Overdispersion precluded adequacy of the logistically adapted protocol, thereby suggesting processing data through a median absolute deviation scheme aimed to remove unduly replicates. Nevertheless, achieving regularity to Huxley's power function-like trend required the removal of many replicates, thereby questioning the integrity of a data cleaning approach. But, we managed to adapt the complexity of the error term to reliably identify Huxley's model-like systematic part masked by variability in data. Achieving this relied on an error term conforming to a normal mixture distribution which successfully managed overdispersion in data. Compared to normal-complex allometry and data cleaning composites present arrangement delivered a coherent Q-Q normal mixture spread and a remarkable reproducibility strength of derived proxies. By keeping the analysis within Huxley's original theory, the present approach enables substantiating nondestructive allometric proxies aimed at eelgrass conservation. Several factors have been reported to affect graft survival following kidney transplantation. CD52 molecules may increase T cell proliferation and activation, which may contribute to acute graft rejection and graft survival. In the current study, we studied the possible value of preoperative CD52 levels in predicting graft survival following renal transplantation. Ninety-six patients with end-stage renal disease who had kidney transplantation were included in the study from our prospective cohort. Blood samples were taken one day before surgery, and plasma CD52 levels were measured using ELISA (Cloud-Clone Corp., Houston, TX, USA). Acute rejection, acute tubular necrosis, delayed graft function, graft loss, BK infection, cytomegalovirus infection, and graft survival were evaluated. The mean age of recipients was 50.08 ± 12.82 years , and 64.6% were male. The incidence of delayed graft function, acute rejection, graft loss (p < 0.01), BK virus infection, and serum creatinine levels were significantly higher in recipients with high preoperative CD52 levels six months after transplantation (p < 0.05). Kaplan–Meier analysis revealed that three-year graft survival was significantly higher in patients with low preoperative CD52 levels (p < 0.0001). Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses showed that serum creatinine levels (hazard ratio HR = 1.7 , p < 0.05), acute rejection (HR = 2.919 , p < 0.05), and preoperative CD52 levels (HR = 3.114 , p < 0.05) were independent prognostic factors for graft survival after kidney transplantation. We showed that high preoperative CD52 levels are associated with higher rates of acute rejection, delayed graft function, and BK virus infection and lower rates of graft survival after kidney transplantation. Background. With the development of research, the importance of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the occurrence, metastasis, and prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has attracted extensive attention. This study is aimed at predicting overall survival (OS) results through bioinformatics to identify novel miRNA biomarkers and hub genes. Materials and Methods. The data of LUAD-related miRNA and mRNA samples was downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Upon screening and pretreatment of initial data, TCGA data were analyzed using R platform and a series of analytical tools to identify biomarkers with high specificity and sensitivity. Results. 7 miRNAs and 13 hub genes that had strong relation to the overall surviving status were identified in patients with LUAD. The expression of seven miRNAs (hsa-miR-19a-3p, hsa-miR-126-5p, hsa-miR-556-3p, hsa-miR-671-5p, hsa-miR-937-3p, hsa-miR-4664-3p, and hsa-miR-4746-5p) could apparently improve the OS rate of patient with LUAD. The 13 hub genes, namely, CCT6A, CDK5R1, CEP55, DNAJB4, EGLN3, HDGF, HOXC8, LIMD1, MKI67, PCP4L1, PPIL1, SCAI, and STK32A, showed a correlation with the OS status. Conclusion. 7 miRNAs were identified as novel biomarkers for the prognosis of patients with LUAD. This study offered a deeper comprehension of LUAD treatment and prognosis from the molecular level and helped enhance the understanding of the pathogenesis and potential molecular events of LUAD. Background. Early diagnosis and interceptive treatment of the maxillary canine impaction is crucial as it reduces treatment complexity and decreases complications and adverse outcomes. Aim and Objectives. To determine the mean maxillary canine position among 9-10-year-old children and predict the risk of impaction of the maxillary canines. Methodology. Panoramic radiographs (PANs) of 289 healthy children aged between 9 and 10 years were observed where the average position of maxillary canines was related to the lateral incisor, sector locations, and angulations to the bicondylar line were traced. The average position was obtained by using descriptive statistics. One sample Wilcoxon signed-rank test is done to predict the risk of canine impaction by comparing the data obtained to the average position from prior studies. Results. A total of 289 PANs (126 males and 163 females) were utilized for the analysis. The findings showed that the average position of the maxillary canines in our population was statistically different from the average position of nonimpacted canines in previous studies. However, on average, more than 85% of canines in our population were still located within the safe range of satisfactory position, with females showing slight predominance outside of the acceptable range. The mean scores of the angles between the right canine and lateral incisor were significantly higher among females than males (p = 0.001). Similarly, females had a significantly higher mean angle of the left canine than males (p < 0.001). In regard to the angles between the bicondylar line and permanent maxillary canine, the mean scores were not significantly different (p > 0.05) on both the left and right side. Conclusion. There is a low risk of impaction of maxillary canines in the Malaysian population.
