This section offers biology news briefs as of February 2011. Cannabis, one of the most abused drugs, is already believed to make users more susceptive to infections and some types of cancer. An identification system for oocytes and embryos in which each can be tagged using silicon barcodes has been developed by researchers from Barcelona, Spain. A study regarding fruitflies on molasses and on starch has been conducted by researchers at Tel-Aviv University in Israel.
