Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the crystal structure of the ferric Hb-nitrite (Hb(ONO)) complex. The results provided insights into the uncommon O-nitrito binding mode adopted by the nitrite ligand and the physiological interaction between the nitrite anion and Hb.

Abstract

A comprehensive proteomic data set identifying 7792 proteins from a whole mouse brain generated by LC/LC-MS/MS analyses was used to identify nitrated proteins. This analysis resulted in identification of 31 unique nitroyrosine sites within 29 different proteins and more than half of the nitrated proteins that are identified are involved in Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, or other neurodegenerative disorders.

Abstract

NarL is a model response regulator for bacterial two-component signal transduction. Two new cocrystal structures are presented of NarL C-terminal domain DNA binding alone (NarL(super C)) complexed with additional 20mer oligonucleotides representatives of other high-affinity tail-to-tail NarL binding sites found in the upstream promoter regions.
