Abstract

Kinetics of reactions of human leukocyte elastase with two secretory leukoprotease inhibitors (SLPI) is studied to analyze the function of the N-terminal domain in SLPI. N-terminal domain increases the stability of the elastase-SLPI complex and is essential for the activation of SLPI by heparin. The stabilization is influenced by heparin and the magnitude of influence differs for two-domain inhibitors the and C-terminal domain.
