Abstract

Results demonstrate that serpin polymerization occurs from seeding and the rate of polymerization is accelerated by seeding with polymers. Research indicates that the mechanism of polymerization is analogous to the fibrillization of the Abeta(sub)1-42 peptide, which may play a role in the deposition of alpha(sub)1-antichymotrypsin in amyloid plaques.
