U središtu kršćanske vjere je Isus Krist. Osim što prihvaća niz temeljnih vjerovanja, u svojoj najdubljoj biti naša vjera je prije svega i iznad svega posvećena jednoj Osobi: Isusu Kristu. Isto vrijedi i za kršćansku vijest. Evanđelje govori o događaju u čijem je središtu Isus Krist. Kršćanstvo se ne svodi samo na neku drevnu zajednicu vjernika. Ono je ukorijenjeno u Isusu iz Nazareta. Kršćanstvo je Krist. No tko je On? Cilj je ovog članka duboka misaona i sustavna studija Osobe i misije ili djela Isusa Krista, koliko god bila kratka i selektivna, na temelju Svetoga pisma, a posebice Novoga zavjeta. Polazišna točka ove studije jest da su evanđelja povijesno vjerodostojno i pouzdano štivo i da opisuju ono što je Isus rekao i učinio. I ostale knjige Staroga i Novoga zavjeta priznajemo pouzdanim i vjerodostojnim izvorima. Uostalom, Osoba i djelo našega Gospodina, kao i ono što iz toga proizlazi, više su stvar otkrivenja nego ljudske misli. Ovaj će članak razmotriti različite aspekte Osobe i djela Isusa Krista, naime Njegovu osobu, smrt, uskrsnuće, uzašašće, službu Velikog svećenika i drugi dolazak sukladno sljedećem pregledu., At the center of the Christian religion is Jesus Christ. Beyond the acceptance of a set of fundamental beliefs, in its inmost essence our religion is first and foremost a commitment to a Person: Jesus Christ. The same is true of the Christian message. The gospel is about an event at the center of which is Jesus Christ. Christianity does not go back merely to an early community of believers. It is rooted in Jesus of Nazareth. Christianity is Christ. But who is He? The aim of this article is to make a reflec¬tive and systematic study of the person and mission or work of Jesus Christ, however brief and selective, based on the Scriptures, particularly on the NT. The starting point in this study is that the Gospels are historically authentic and dependable materials describ¬ing what Jesus did and said. The remainder of the Scriptures, both OT and NT, are like-wise recognized as trustworthy and reliable sources. After all, the person and work of our Lord, as well as their implications, are a mat¬ter of revelation more than of human thought. This article will consider various aspects of the person and work of Jesus Christ, namely His person, death, resurrection, ascension high priestly ministry, and second coming according to the following outline.

Priznanjem da je spasenje Božji dar odbacujemo li ideju o Kristu koji vlada kao suveren u našemu životu? Ako bismo tako postupili, izobličili bismo Pavlovo učenje, jer dok on ističe jedno, ni u kom slučaju ne umanjuje drugo. Autor razvija argument prema kojem treba istaći da je Božje spasonosno djelo u isto vrijeme i dar i potraživanje u našim životima. Isus je oboje: i Spasitelj i Gospodar, i to ne samo u vječnosti već i sada. To nikako ne znači da je riječ 0 milosti koju treba pripomoći djelima. Oboje dolazi od Boga kao nedjeljiva cjelina. Oprost i obnova su komplementarni sadržaji jednog paketa. Dietrich Bonhoeffer je ispravno zaključio: "Jedini čovjek koji ima pravo reći da je opravdan samo milošću jest onaj koji je sve ostavio i slijedi Krista." Razmatrajući pitanje suda autor uspoređuje koncept istražnog suda s općenitim učenjem o sudu u Ivanovim spisima. On zaključuje da se istražni sud i konačni sud bave jednim temeljnim pitanjem koje im je zajedničko: Je li vjernikov život prožima neprestana vjera, pokajanje, napuštanje nastranosti i služba poslušnosti iz ljubavi? Ova dva suda su zapravo jedan koji ima dva vida, istražni i izvršni. Cilj im je isti: utvrditi je li Krist moj Spasitelj i Gospodar., By recognizing salvation as a gift from God, do we then abandon the idea that Christ is to rule as sovereign over us in this earthly life? To do so would distort Paul’s intent, for when he stresses the first he by no means negates the second. Author develops the argument by stressing the idea that the saving act of God is at once a gift and a claim upon our lives. Jesus is both Savior and Lord in dimensions that involve not only eternity but the present as well. In no sense it is an issue of grace with added works. Both stem from God as an indivisible unit. Forgiveness and renewal sire complementary sides of one package. Dietrich Bonhoeffer is right when he says that "the only man who has right to say that he is justified by grace alone is the man who has left all to follow Christ." In dealing with the judgment theme the author compares the concept of the investigative judgment to the teaching on judgment in general in John’s writings. He concludes that the investigative judgment and the final judgment deal with a basic question common to both: Is the believer’s life one of continuing faith, repentance, confession, and obedient Service in love? The two judgments are really one, but the one judgment has two phases. They have the same goal: to establish if Christ is my Savior and Lord.
