The present study aimed to adapt the Life Skills Transfer Questionnaire (LSTS) into Brazilian Portuguese and estimate validity evidence and reliability. The sample was composed of 255 athletes (Age:17.6, 61.3% male). Judges' analysis and pilot study indicated content adequacy of the items. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated adequacy of the hierarchical structure composed of eight first)order factors (RMSEA=0.067, CFI=0.95, and TLI=0.95), all with good reliability indicators. A short version of the instrument was also proposed that adequately reproduced the psychometric properties of the original version. The aim of this study was to seek evidence of validity for the Brazilian Portuguese version of the General and Organizational Cynicism Scale. Cynicism is part of everyday life being analyzed both as a personality trait in the literature and as an attitude by other researchers. It has been found to reduce employee commitment, erode interpersonal support networks and impede the organizational change process. No national instruments were found that analyze all dimensions of the constructs. The adaptation process and Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis procedures were performed. The results indicate the confirmation of the original structure with four factors: general (α=.87), organizational affective (α=.89), organizational cognitive (α=.85) and organizational behavioral (α=.75). The Brazilian translation of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) 6-18, the “Inventory of Childhood and Adolescence Behaviors”, assesses social competence and behavior problems in individuals aged 6 to 18 years through the report of parents/guardians. However, its studies of evidence of validity and reliability for Brazil are not presented in the manual, at least up until the time of this study, in the second half of 2020. Therefore, the aim of this study was to verify the evidence of validity and reliability of the Brazilian version of the CBCL, through a literature review. As a result, six publications were found, which indicated, for the most part, good psychometric qualities. However, care must be taken when generalizing the data to the current commercial version, as the studies investigated previous versions of the instrument. Brazilian Jeitinho has been conceptualized as an intelligent behavior developed for the resolution of everyday problems. Efforts to understand this phenomenon have highlighted the difficulty of its measurement. This study aimed to develop a measure that evaluates and maps the behaviors related to this construct: the Brazilian Jeitinho Behavior Inventory (BJBI). Two studies were developed to operationalize and construct the instrument's items (study 1) and to assess evidence of factor validity and internal consistency in a study with 203 participants (study 2). The instrument presented factor validity and internal consistency, consisting of 30 items subdivided into 2 factors: Illegal and antisocial advantages (factor 1) and Efficiency through informality (factor 2). The aim of this study was to examine the internal structure, reliability, and temporal stability of the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS) for Brazilian adults. The sample included 1222 participants, with a mean age of 26.57 years (SD=9.03). Half of the sample completed the online version of the instrument, while the other half answered the paper-and-pencil version. To check temporal stability, the instrument was reapplied with 10% of the presential sample. The results from the confirmatory factorial analysis indicated that the original six-dimension model was the best fit for the scale. The internal structure evaluated for the two application formats showed only borderline structural, metric and configuration invariance, highlighting the need for future studies. Both the internal consistency and the temporal stability indices were satisfactory and corroborate the literature findings for the scale in other languages. Personality is one of the central constructs of psychology, however, its extensive scales can hinder its inclusion in various studies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to verify whether the two short versions of the Big Five Inventory (BFI-15p and BFI-10p) present evidence of validity and reliability in a sample of 451 Mexican university students. (57.2% women; Mage=20.84). The BFI-15p and BFI-10p were analyzed through exploratory structural equation modeling (WLSMV estimation method and geomin rotation), and it was found that the BFI-15p presented a satisfactory fit index and a coherent internal structure, as well as significant associations with a brief measure of emotional intelligence. The construct reliability coefficients and scores were also adequate. It was concluded that the BFI-15p presents satisfactory psychometric properties for use with university students. El objetivo fue verificar si el ítem único de autoeficacia académica (IUAA) presenta validez convergente por su relación con los cinco grandes factores de personalidad (5GF) en 450 estudiantes universitarios (61.1% mujeres; Medad = 20.9; DEedad = 2.6) de una universidad privada de Chiclayo (Perú). Además del IUAA, fue empleado el Big Five Inventory-15p para evaluar los 5GF mediante 15 ítems (tres ítems por factor). Las hipótesis de investigación fueron contrastadas utilizado el ANOVA de una vía, agrupando a los estudiantes según su respuesta en el IUAA. Los resultados indican que el rasgo con mayores diferencias entre los grupos fue responsabilidad, seguido por apertura y extraversión. Además, los grupos no difieren sustancialmente en los rasgos afabilidad y neuroticismo. Pese a las limitaciones, el IUAA es una medida apropiada para valorar la autoeficacia académica en estudiantes universitarios.

The present study aimed to develop the General Conspiracy Belief Scale (ECGC), seeking evidence of its factorial validity and internal consistency. For this, two studies were carried out. In Study 1 (n=229) an analysis of the main components identified a five factor structure, each composed of three items: pharmaceutical manipulation (a=.74), global conspiracies (a=.80), manipulation by secret groups (a=.80), extraterrestrial contact cover ups (a=.92) and information control (a=.60). In Study 2 (n=229) the confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the bifactor model best fitted the data (CFI=.96, TLI=.94, RMSEA=.06). The final version of the ECGC, composed of 15 items, presents adequate psychometric evidence to evaluate beliefs in conspiracy theories, which can be used in research in the Brazilian context. This study aimed to develop the Disposition to Nostalgia Scale (DNS) and to investigate evidence for its factorial validity, convergent validity and internal consistency. The aim was to assemble 20 items that were in the literature or were designed with the purpose of describing nostalgic experiences. Participants were 208 undergraduate students (Mage=22.8 years, SD=6.13, ranging from 18 to 60), the majority male (50.7%), single (86.5%), and from the middle social class (54.1%). They answered the initial items of the DNS and two other measures that assess the same construct: The Nostalgia Inventory (NI) and the Southampton Nostalgia Scale (SNS), in addition to demographic questions. Factorial analysis (PAF) was performed, identifying a general factor that accounted for 42.3% of the total variance, presenting adequate reliability (a=.84). Corroborating evidence for its convergent validity, the DNS scores correlated positively with the two other nostalgia measures (NI and SNS). La contextualización de tests psicológicos en cursos específicos es necesaria para obtener informaciones relevantes, y sustentar las intervenciones individuales o grupales, a diferencia de los instrumentos de evaluación general, que se concentran en la vida académica global. La procrastinación académica es relevante, y su evaluación es necesaria debido a sus consecuencias a mediano y corto plazo. Por lo tanto, el objetivo del presente informe metodológico fue comparar el resultado del análisis estructural, relación entre las dimensiones, la confiabilidad y las especificaciones erróneas de la Escala de Procrastinación Académica, evaluada en su forma general (muestra 1: 717 estudiantes, 74,3% mujeres), y demarcada en asignaturas específicas (muestra 2: 142 estudiantes; 72,5% mujeres). Los resultados indican que la forma específica tiene mayor respaldo psicométrico en el ajuste global, relación entre factores, y menor frecuencia de especificaciones erróneas. Sin embargo, los coeficientes de confiabilidad no difieren entre las versiones. Se discuten las implicancias de los resultados.

El presente estudio evaluó la invarianza longitudinal (IL) y error transitorio (ET) de la Escala de Cansancio Emocional (ECE) en una muestra de 116 estudiantes de psicología (79 mujeres; Medad = 23.88) de una universidad privada en Lima Metropolitana. La IL fue evaluada mediante un análisis factorial confirmatorio, y el ET, utilizando indicadores basados en puntuaciones observadas (por ejemplo, alfa test-retest) y variables latentes (por ejemplo, omega jerárquico por subescala). Los resultados indican que, con la muestra del presente estudio, la medición realizada por la ECE se mantiene invariable y con cierta fiabilidad a lo largo del tiempo. Se llegó a la conclusión que la ECE sería de utilidad en proyectos pre y post test, así como en estudios empíricos, en los cuales podría proporcionar resultados estables. Algunas limitaciones y futuras perspectivas de investigación son discutidas.

The current paper sought to adapt the Sexual Machismo Scale to the Brazilian context, gathering evidence of its psychometric parameters. Non-probabilistic samples of 235 undergraduate students (Study 1) and 200 individuals (Study 2), with similar mean ages (M=21.6; SD=4.06; M=19.0, SD=5.20; respectively), equally distributed by the sex in Study 1 and mostly female in Study 2 (68.0%) were used. Participants completed the Sexual Machismo Scale, the Ambivalent Sexism Scale and demographic questions. The studies showed a single-factor solution, presenting suitable indices of internal consistency (a=0.81 and a=0.76) and confirming the convergent validity through correlations with the hostile and benevolent sexism factors of the Ambivalent Sexism Scale. Additionally, a confirmatory factor analysis corroborated the previous solution. It was concluded that this measure seems to be psychometrically suitable for use in the context mentioned. Este trabajo analiza algunas propiedades psicométricas de una tarea estimativa de la trayectoria de objetos móviles. Este tipo de tarea suele utilizarse como parte de las baterías de evaluación de conductores en muchos países, pero son escasas las evidencias disponibles sobre validez. Sesenta participantes (treinta conductores profesionales y treinta de población general) completaron la prueba en dos ocasiones. Los resultados fueron positivos en algunos aspectos (e.g., consistencia interna), pero también muestran la necesidad de realizar algunos cambios y mejorías. Se requieren más estudios que ofrezcan evidencias externas de validez para este tipo de tarea.

This study aimed to verify the effects of developmental variables as age, school grade and gender in the performance of the Test for Identification of Signs of Dyslexia (TISD). In particular from the analysis of the first two, it was also sought to verify validity evidence based on external variables. Participants were 515 children, randomly selected, ages between six and 13 years old (Average=8.46; SD=1.52) and 52% of males. Through the Univariate Analysis of Variance, only effects of age and school grade were found. It was observed that TISD was able to differentiate groups of six, seven, and eight years old and the school grade of the 1st to 4th grade of elementary school. From these results, it was possible to add positive validity evidence to the instrument, in order to motivate the conduction of other research studies of its psychometric qualities. The aim of the study was to evaluate if the academic self-efficacy single-item (IUAA) has convergent validity by its relationship with the Big Five personality traits (5BF) in 450 university students (61.1% female; Mage=20.9; SDage=2.6) from a private college in Chiclayo (Peru). Besides the IUAA, we used the Big Five Inventory-15p (BFI-Sp) to assess the 5BF with 15 items (three items per factor). The research hypothesis was tested using a one-way ANOVA, with students' grouping according to their IUAA response. The results show conscientiousness as the trait with higher differences between groups, followed by openness and extraversion. Additionally, the groups do not differ substantially in agreeableness or neuroticism. Despite the limitations, the IUAA is an appropriate measure to assess academic self-efficacy in college students. The history of psychological assessment in Brazil is found in a scattered way, so there is the need to gather this information as well as to present the milestones of its evolution. Undoubtedly, this evolution has been noticed since the last 20 years, with the foundation of the Brazilian Institute of Psychological Assessment-IBAP and the support from the Federal Council of Psychology which organized commissions for psychological assessment and created the System for Evaluating Psychological Tests-SATEPSI. The results can be observed with the increase of laboratories for test construction and validation, research groups, professional associations as well as publications. A total of 270 active smokers from different states participated, the majority being female (51.7%, ƒ=139), ranging in age from 18 to 68 years (M=33.77, SD=12.54) and smoking time ranging from 1 to 53 years (M=15.01, SD=12.50). First, back translation and content validation procedures were performed. Next, the participants responded to the Tobacco Dependence Dimension Scale (TDDS) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis indicated a structure composed of 26 items divided between four factors. Evidence of criterion validity was also found for all the TDDS factors as a function of intent to join a tobacco dependence program. The use of self-report instruments to assess personality is widely known for being efficient, practical and economical. However, acquiescent responding, which is the tendency of participants to endorse items regardless of their content, may negatively impact on the psychometric properties of these instruments. The objective of this study was to evaluate factor models of personality structure by using different methods for the control of response styles. The first method, simpler and easier to implement, was developed by Soto et al., (2008), and the second method, more complex and sophisticated, was developed by Maydeu-Olivares and Coffman (2006). The sample was composed by 433 undergraduate students who answered the Brazilian version of the Big Five Inventory. Results revealed that controlling for acquiesce response style is essential for a proper personality assessment, and that the Maydeu-Olivares and Coffman's method presented a more theoretically acceptable solution for the Big Five model. Job crafting is a process of proactive individual actions to redesign work to match individual values, competencies and motivations, or to optimize resources and demands with personal needs and resources. We verified the scientific qualities of the construct measures in four databases between 2001 and August 2017. We identified two different ways of conceptualizing the construct, four different instruments for its evaluation, and seven works to adapt and validate for other contexts. We analyzed 11 selected instruments in terms of validity evidence and accuracy. The most used forms were those with validity evidence based on the internal structure, and those that related external variables and accuracy through Cronbach's alpha. This study aims to investigate validity evidence and precision of a virtual violence evaluation instrument. The sample consisted of 433 students from three public schools, between 11 and 20 years of age (M=13.91, SD=1.40), with 54.5% female. Participants responded to the Virtual Victimization Questionnaire (VVQ), which includes different episodes of violence through communication technologies, including cyberbullying. A two-point scale of measurement (0=no; 1=yes), evaluated victimization occurrences during two timelines: in the last twelve months and throughout life. Results point to satisfactory validity evidence and precision for both timelines evaluated. The TRI allowed greater understanding of the items' contents and their relation with the positioning of the items in a continuum of difficulty. The present study evaluated longitudinal invariance (LI) and transient error (TE) in the Emotional Fatigue Scale (EFS) in a sample of 116 psychology students (79 women, Mage =23.88) from a private university in Lima metropolitan area. LI was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis, and TE using indicators based on observed scores (e.g., reactive test) and latent variables (e.g., omega hierarchical by subscale). Results indicate that, at least with the sample from the present study, the measurement performed by EFS remains invariant and acceptable over time. It was concluded that EFS would be useful in pre- and post-test projects, as well as in empirical studies, in which it could provide stable results. Anchored in the theoretical Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model, this study presents results of the transcultural adaptation process and verification of validity evidence for the TPACK Survey for Meaningful Learning. A total of 472 Biology professors from the state of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. Results showed a good understanding and acceptance of the adapted assertions. Statistical analyses indicate that the Brazilian version presents validity and reliability evidence, making it possible to provide an unprecedented evaluation tool in the Brazilian context, in relation to the professors' perception of their different knowledge bases. The Bells Test (BT) is widely used to aid in the diagnosis of heminegligence. The objective of this study was to evaluate the convergent validity of the BT, comparing it with tools that evaluate similar constructs, and to investigate its test-retest reliability. The sample included 66 healthy adults age 19-75 years. The reliability was evaluated through a test-retest procedure, with correlations and t-tests for paired samples, while validity was investigated through comparisons between the performance on the BT and scores in the Concentrated Attention test (CA-15), the Sustained Attention test (SA), and the WAIS-III Symbols and Codes subtests. Positive correlations were found between test and retest in both BT versions, as well as between the number of BT omissions and other attention measures. El propósito de este estudio es examinar las características estructurales de una nueva y breve versión del Test Gestáltico Visomotor de Bender, modificada para niños entre 4 y 8 años (TGB-M). Los participantes fueron 1369 niños provenientes de varias zonas urbanas de Lima, Perú. Se aplicó el TGB-M en forma grupal e individual, y se verificó la dimensionalidad mediante la metodología del análisis factorial confirmatorio, y la consistencia interna con metodología factorial y con la teoría clásica de los testes. Los resultados justifican la unidimensionalidad del puntaje total, pero la varianza retenida y la confiabilidad del constructo varía en cada nivel de edad; también, la invarianza configuracional de los ítems es satisfactoria en todos los grupos de edad. La consistencia interna es satisfactoria. Se discute la interpretación de la variabilidad de los resultados entre las edades, así como la posible extensión del TGB-M en niños de más de 8 años.

Marsh (2007) asserts that no self-reported questionnaire of the Big Five factors shows an acceptable degree of adjustment in confirmatory factor analyses (CFA). Based on CFA results, it can usually be inferred that exploratory factor analysis (EFA) solutions are incorrect, as well as concluded that the instruments evaluated by EFAs do not measure what they intend to measure. The present study investigates this assertion, evaluating the structural validity of the Personality Characteristics Inventory (PCI), a self-reported instrument of the Big Five factors. Only one EFA investigated the validity of PCI (Gomes, 2012). We re-analyzed the data of this study (716 elementary and middle school students from a Brazilian school). The solution of eight correlated factors was investigated through CFA and ESEM (exploratory structural equation modeling). The model was found to be unacceptable through CFA, showing good fit through ESEM. Marsh's assertion correctly predicted the results. Structural validity of PCI could only be concluded through ESEM. The need for group identification reflects an individual tendency to identify with social groups or goals. This research seeks to adapt the Identification Need Scale (INS) to the Brazilian context, counting on two studies on its factorial validity evidence and internal consistency. Study 1 included 244 participants (mean age=21.9, 66.3% female), and the results suggested a two-factor structure: self- definition and belonging. Study 2 included 246 participants (mean age=21.3, 68.7% female), confirming this two-factor structure, with satisfactory adjustment indicators (e.g., CFI=0.96, TLI=0.94). In both studies the factors demonstrated adequate reliability indices. It was concluded that the Brazilian version of INS gathered adequate psychometric evidence, supporting its use in Brazil to evaluate the individual tendency to define itself as a member of a group. This study analyzes some psychometric properties of a Time-to-contact and Collision Estimation Task. This type of measure is often used as part of driver testing in many countries. However, available evidences of validity are scarce. Sixty participants (split evenly between professional drivers and general population) completed the task on two occasions. The results were positive in some respects (e.g., internal consistency), but also show the need for changes and improvements in the task design. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido investigar la relación entre el rendimiento en el RIn, un test que mide la inteligencia fluida (factor g), y la variable edad. El instrumento de medida ha sido aplicado en 1102 sujetos, con media de edad de 18,99 años (DT=6,06), de los estados de São Paulo y Minas Gerais. En el primer estudio de análisis de varianza no se ha encontrado correlación entre las variables, por lo que se dividió los sujetos en dos grupos de edad, uno de hasta 22 años y el otro a partir de los 23. Los análisis subsiguientes han mostrado que hay una correlación positiva entre el grupo de hasta los 22 años y el rendimiento, lo que indica que según aumenta la edad, incrementa también la puntuación de los sujetos. En cambio, el grupo de edad con más de 23 años se ha correlacionado negativamente con la puntuación en el test, lo que sugiere el fin del desarrollo de la inteligencia fluida e inicio de un ligero deterioro. Además, se han encontrado diferencias significativas entre la puntuación de cinco grupos etarios: rango de 11 a 13 años, de 14 a 16, de los 17 a los 22, de los 23 a los 32, de los 33 a los 49 y, finalmente, de los 50 años en adelante.

A choice of psychological tools that can provide reliable data on an individual's psychological functioning and the suffering to which one has been exposed is an indispensable ethical condition for professional practice. In light of this assumption, this study aimed to verify the use of the Zulliger Z Test in the Brazilian context, considering the purposes of the investigation and the different age groups, between 2004 and 2014. Through the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses method (PRISMA), we found 15 articles related to standardization studies, validity and accuracy, with the use of Zulliger in the Comprehensive System (73%), with adults (80%), children (20%), and the elderly (13%). The results show that although the number of publications has expanded, there is little research work using the instrument, especially with children and elderly, which should be encouraged. Coparenting involves the interactions that occur between the mother and father of a child, to decide how to deal with the tasks involved in raising their child. Based on a review of Brazilian publications, no coparenting measurements were found for use in Brazil. A coparenting measurement may contribute to testing theoretical models of coparenting, as well as creating a tool for psychologists to evaluate coparenting relationships. Thus, the objective of the current study was to compare instruments for the assessment of coparenting described in the international literature. Via a systematic search in electronic databases, 35 articles about the validation of eight coparenting instruments were located. After analyzing the psychometric evidence for each instrument, one can conclude that there is satisfactory evidence of the reliability, internal structure and external validity of three psychometric instruments, which can be adapted for use in Brazil. Este artigo centra o seu interesse na importância da validade dentro dos processos de avaliação psicológica de pessoas cegas ou com baixa visão e no desenvolvimento dos Testes Adaptativos Computadorizados (TAC) como uma alternativa para a avaliação dessa população. Apresenta-se uma revisão sobre o conceito de validade a partir das abordagens contemporâneas dominantes e sobre o desenvolvimento dos TAC, o problema da sua validade e os alcances dessa tecnologia como uma alternativa para avaliar pessoas cegas. The objective of the present study was to revise a scale to measure attitudes of medical students and to verify internal consistency and construct validity evidence of the revised scale. The original scale, consisting of 102 items, was administered to a sample of 310 students in different phases of medical school with ages varying between 18 and 47 years (M=23.2 and DP=3.6), 54.2% being female. To investigate the internal structure of the instrument, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with Promax rotation was performed. Parallel Analysis was used to define the number of components to extract. The final solution of six principal components explained 39.2% of the total variance. The internal consistency indices (Cronbach's Alpha) of the six components varied between 0.65 and 0.87. This article describes the procedures for adaptation and validation of the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale - Short Form (STRS) for the Brazilian context. The STRS assesses the teachers' view on the quality of your relationship with each student from indicators of closeness and conflict in the relationship. Participants were 31 teachers from 3rd to 5th grade from four schools from Porto Alegre. Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) confirmed the factorial structure of the original instrument and provided good indices of fit for the model. Analysis of convergent validity showed satisfactory results. It was found that the relationships of the teachers are more positive with girls than with boys. The adapted version of the ERPA proves to be a useful measure for assessing the quality of the teacher-student relationship in the Brazilian context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aimed at developing the Desirable Attributes of Ideal Partner Scale (DAIPS), presenting psychometric evidences. Two studies were performed. Study 1 involved 200 people of the general population from João Pessoa (PB). A PC analysis indicated a multifactorial structure for the DAIPS, with five components: athletic (a=0.80), affectionate (a=0.80), traditional (a=0.61), sociable (a=0.68), and successful (a=0.60). Study 2 involved 201 people, mainly women, with a mean age of 26 years. A confirmatory factor analysis suggested as acceptable the multifactorial structure of this scale (GFI=0.89, AGFI=0.85, and RMSEA=0.061). So, it was concluded that the DAIPS is a measure that has adequate psychometric characteristics and can be used in future studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rape myths consist in stereotyped beliefs about rape, its victims and offenders. The scarcity of information about these myths in Brazil motivated this research, which aimed to validate the Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, presenting evidences of validity in a sample of Law undergraduate students and verifying the existence of possible differences regarding participants' gender, as well as associations with social desirability, age and religiosity. 281 students participated with a mean age of 23.6 years, mostly female. They answered the Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, the Social Desirability Scale and socio-demographic questions. Results indicate four factors as an adequate structure, which did not confirm the original structure of the measure, represented by seven factors. Significant results were observed in relation to religiosity and participants' gender. The proposed scale presents acceptable psychometric parameters for use in research on the topic. The current research aimed to adapt the Self-Control Scale (SCS) to the Brazilian context, jointing evidence for its factorial validity and reliability. A study was conducted in João Pessoa (Paraíba, Brazil), with 244 high school and primary school students from public and private schools. The sample was composed mainly by females, with ages ranging from 12 to 42 years, single and Catholics. Participants answered the SCS and demographic questions. A Principal Components Analysis was performed (varimax rotation), indicating the existence of six factors, accounting for 59.5% of the total variance. The internal consistency of the factors (Cronbach's alpha) presented values ranging from 0.62 to 0.82, considered acceptable. It was concluded this version can be adequately used for research in the context where it was adapted, showing evidence of construct validity. The aim of this study is to examine the structural characteristics of a new brief version of the Bender Gestalt Test of Bender, modified for children between 4 and 8 years (BGT-M). The participants were 1369 children from various urban areas of Lima, Peru. The BGT-M was group or individually administered, and dimensionality was verified using the methodology of confirmatory factor analysis, and the internal consistency with factorial methodology with the classical test theory methodologies. The results justify the unidimensionality of the total score, but the variance retained and construct reliability varies by age level; also, the configurationally invariance of the items is satisfactory in all age groups. Internal consistency is satisfactory. We discuss the interpretation of the variability of results between ages, and the possible extension of the TGB-M in children over 8 years. This study aimed to guarantee evidences of construct validity (factorial, convergent and discriminant) and reliability of the Religious Attitudes Scale, considering its expanded version (RAS-20). Participants were 190 people with a mean age of 32.2 years, mostly females, Catholic or Protestant. They answered the RAS-20, the Religious Belief Scale and demographic questions. Models with one, two and four factors were compared by confirmatory factor analyses, this latter presenting the best fit indices. The four factors solution (behavior, knowledge, feeling, and embodiment) showed acceptable reliability (homogeneity, internal consistency, and composite reliability), and evidences of convergent and discriminant validities. In conclusion, the RAS-20 can be appropriately used to know the correlates of religious attitudes, especially in the religious arrays Catholic, Protestant and Spiritist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article aimed to gather evidences of construct validity of the Study Habits Scale (SHS). In Study 1 participated 242 students in elementary and secondary education, with a mean age of 14.3 years. They answered the SHS and demographic questions. A one-dimensional structure was identified by principal components analysis, with Cronbach's alpha (internal consistency) of 0.65. In Study 2 participantswere 249 students in the same educational levels,with mean age of 14.6 (sd = 2.12), who answered the same instruments. The unidimensional structure was tested by confirmatory factorial analysis. The fit indexes of this modelwere satisfactory, supporting the unidimensionality of this scale. Its internal consistencywas assessed by Cronbach's alpha (0.74) and composite reliability (0,70), supporting this parameter of the SHS. This study aimed to provide evidences of convergent validity between the Benton Visual Retention Test (BVRT) and two other instruments of visual memory: Teste Pictórico de Memória (TEPIC-M) and Rey Complex Figures. The sample consisted of 29 elderly of both sexes, 60 to 79 years old and low and middle education. Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) were used to exclude participants with signs of depression and / or dementia. The results showed evidence of convergent validity between BVRT and TEPIC-M, which indicated that BVRT also have a verbal nature, despite its abstract geometric stimuli. However, there were few significant correlations between BVRT and Rey Complex Figure test, which indicated that both evaluate the same functions in different ways, and there are important differences between their applications. Literature regarding organizational behavior indicates that satisfaction at work has been one of the most empirically investi- gated variables at the micro level, although few recent studies actually present valid measures to make it operational within organizations. Thus, the present study aims at adding to the literature indications of validity of the factorial structure of the Siqueira Scale of Satisfaction at Work, testing it in a sample of Public Security. The study was conducted within an Insti- tution of Public Security in the Federal District. The measure used had 25 items associated to a 7-point likert scale, in 257 employees. Procedures of exploratory and confirmatory factorial analysis were used for the interpretation and the analysis of the data. The factors identified corresponded to Satisfaction with colleagues, Remuneration policy, leadership, nature of the task and promotion Policy, whose alphas varied from 0,76 to 0,90. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the convergent validity of the Cognitive Abilities Battery Woodcock-Johnson III (WJ-III) Expanded version by comparing it to the WJ-III Battery Standard version. The sample consisted of 70 public elementary and high school students. The results obtained were analyzed using Pearson's correlation and the Analysis of variance between sex and age. Correlations were found between both the total scores of the WJ-III Expanded and the total scores of the WJ-III Standard, as well as between the subtests that assess Crystallized Intelligence of the WJ-III Expanded vs. the WJ-III Standard. Significant correlations were also found by comparing the subtests used to assess other skills of both versions of the WJ-III battery. There were significant differences regarding the age variable in both the Expanded and the Standard. Those data show that the WJ-III Battery Extended version features a convergent validity with the WJ-III Standard version, which may expand the possibilities of those instruments for intellectual evaluation.
