With the deepening of urbanization and industrialization, as well as the exacerbation of energy consumption, China is facing a severe situation in which nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction is imperative. In this study, it is aimed to put forward countermeasures and suggestions to reduce NOx emissions by analyzing the impact and mechanism of new urbanization, the agglomeration of energy-intensive industries and mutual interactions on China's NOx emissions. By analyzing the data of 30 provinces in China from 2006 to 2017, this paper adopted the system generalized method of moments (SYS-GMM) and intermediary effect model to introduce four variables, such as: energy efficiency, human capital, industrial structure and energy structure, which were for empirical analysis. From the results, it was shown that: (1) NOx emissions in China have an accumulated effect; (2) new urbanization inhibits NOx emissions, whilst the agglomeration of energy-intensive industries intensifies NOx emissions. New urbanization weakens the negative impact of the agglomeration of energy-intensive industries on NOx emissions reduction and, (3) among the impacts of new urbanization on NOx emissions, the energy efficiency and human capital reflect the intermediary effect mechanism. At the same time, in the impact of the agglomeration of energy-intensive industries on NOx emissions, the industrial structure and energy structure show the mechanisms of the intermediary effect and masking effect, respectively. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of titanium dioxide (TiO2) on reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) concentrations using the statistical method of the Anderson-Darling test. To compare and analyze this effect, a spray-type form of TiO2 was applied to the asphalt pavement surface on urban roads. Data acquisition for NOx concentration was collected from a test section with TiO2 applied and a reference section without TiO2 applied. The probabilities of occurrence of the NOx concentration in the test and reference section were estimated and compared using the Anderson-Darling test. In sum, most of the NOx concentrations were probabilistically lower in the test section. The average probability of the NOx concentration in the test section in the 'low' range was 46.2% higher than in the reference section. In the 'high' and 'moderate' ranges, the average probability of the NOx concentration compared to that of the reference section was lower by 28.1% and 18.8%, respectively. These results revealed that the photochemical reaction from the TiO2 material applied on asphalt pavement was effective in reducing NOx. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports on the analysis and findings of the data collected during a mobile air quality campaign commissioned by the City of London Corporation (CoL). This was done using an equipped vehicle capable of taking continuous precision measurements of local air quality while travelling within the City. Several comparative analyses on measured Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) data have been performed between Smogmobile data and those available from CoL precision systems as well as with indicative systems, namely Diffusion Tubes, distributed across the City. Key findings highlight that data collected from the Smogmobile, in terms of average concentration of NO2 across the City (62 µg/m3), are very similar to those obtained by averaging the values from the 48 indicative systems (59.5 µg/m3), with an error of just 4%. Overall, this study demonstrates significant potential and value in using mobile air quality measurements to support assessment of air quality over large areas by Local authorities.
