The article provides information on the formation of the Arts Council of Rochester in Rochester, New York. On March 17, 1958, the founders' meeting was held and members of leading art groups of the city drafted what was to become the Council's foremost aims and purposes. The Council consists of representatives from some sixteen organizations and institutions in the Rochester area whose goal is to foster the arts for the good of the community. Some of the projects of the Arts Council include a series of outdoor art exhibits on the riverfront plaza of the huge War Memorial and the creation of outdoor summer reading facilities in the downtown area.
