Introduction: Mucinous tubularand spindle cell carcinomas (MTSC) are a relativelyrare subtype of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) . Thesetumors are composed by tubular and spindle cellareas within a mucinous stroma. They are generallylow-grade nuclei tumors and limited to the kidney, sothey usually have a favorable prognosis. We report twonew cases of MTSC treated at our institution. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed therenal tumors surgery database of our hospital from2008 to 2019, selecting patients diagnosed with CMTF.We evaluated clinicopathological data and evolution ofthe patients. We also reviewed the published literatureto compare it with our findings. RESULTS: Two patients were included in the study,a 50-year-old male (case 1) and a 55-year-old female(case 2). The diagnosis was made by ultrasound asan incidental fi nding in case 1 and during the studyof fl ank pain in case 2. Treatment was surgical withpartial and radical nephrectomy respectively. After amean follow-up of 70 months, both patients are aliveand disease-free. CONCLUSION: Mucinous tubular and spindle cellcarcinomas (MTSC) is a rare renal tumor, approximatelytwo hundred cases have been published. Thereare questions yet to be answered about their diagnosisand behaviour so it is of utmost importance to reportnew cases in order to increase our knowledge and improvepatient care.

Objective: To perform a literature review on the use of cavoscopy during surgery for renal cell carcinoma with vena cava thrombus (RCCVCT), according to the criteria of Evidence-Based Medicine., Material and Methods: We performed a Pubmed search for studies published with the following keywords: "renal tumor thrombus", "renal tumor cavoscopy" and "cystoscopy thrombus", without time limit and in English. With these criteria, 5 articles were identified with a total of 41 patients. All studies found are case series and expert opinions, so the degree of evidence in the use of cavoscopy in RCCVCT is low., Results: RCCVCT surgery is a complex technique, which can reach over 50% 5-year survival, when a complete oncological resection is achieved. One of the keys for surgical success is complete resection of tumor thrombus, having used different techniques for its verification. One of them is cavoscopy, which consists on the introduction of a flexible cystoscope through the cavotomy incision after thrombectomy, checking the lumen of the vena cava with saline serum irrigation. In two series of clinical cases, cavoscopy detected thrombus persistence in 22% and 43% of patients respectively, allowing resection. The entire resected thrombus showed malignancy in several cases., Conclusion: Cavoscopy is a technique that improves detection of tumor remnants after thrombectomy in comparison to indirect review methods. Although oncological impact of caval thrombus is controversial, the use of cavoscopy allows a more complete resection of the thrombus, and it may offer a possible increase in the recurrence-free survival of these patients.

Objectives: Partial nephrectomy was historically used in urology for the treatment of benign kidney processes. In the last 20 years, its greater use was focused on localized tumors being an alternative to radical nephrectomy. Initially, absolute indications included patients with a single kidney or bilateral tumors. Over time indications were expanded based on the risk of developing kidney disease, and became elective surgery in patients with tumors of less than 4 cm, and even tumors larger than 4 cm. We present a survey of the Venezuelan urological population, regarding partial nephrectomy, as part of treatment for renal masses., Methods: Based on a 21-question survey, by Lopera Toro Adrián et al. Partial nephrectomy in Colombia: current situation, with their previous authorization and adding some questions, the survey was given to urologists and residents of the XXVII National Congress of Urology., Results: 71 people answered, mostly from Caracas and the Metropolitan District (53.5%), 57 were urologists (80.2%) and 14 (19.71%) third year residents. The majority of urologists who answered the survey had a majority of 1 to 3 years of schooling (29.82%). 45.07% (n: 32/71) of the respondents practiced in most Level IV hospitals. 46.4% of these were university hospitals. 38.02% (n: 27/71) respondents did 4 or fewer radical nephrectomies per year. In the case of having a patient candidate for partial nephrectomy, 73.23% of the respondents performed it. Most of the respondents performed partial nephrectomies as part of the treatment of renal masses (84.5%)., Conclusions: In the first place, it was very supportive to have a survey designed by Lopera Toro Adrian et al. It allowed us to carry out a survey in our urological population and to see the current state of partial nephrectomy in our environment, considering that a large part of the urological population performs this surgery in order to preserve nephrons even if laparoscopy is not the most used technique. Nevertheless, clear indications are kept.
