Objectives: To evaluate the sperm count in fertile men, general population, and infertile men in different regions of the world., Methods: Sperm counts were recorded according to their fertility status, proven fertility, men recruited from an andrology/infertility clinic, or healthy men., Results: The average of sperm count in the different studies is lower in infertile men that in fertile men (p>0.001) and in the general population (p>0.001)., Conclusion: Based on this analysis the normal sperm count is about 65 million per mL. Using these reference value, only the 25% of the studies in infertile men are above this value, and the 75% studies with fertile men (>65 x 106 sperm/mL).

Objectives: To discuss a concept about the current definition and treatment of premature ejaculation., Methods: A detailed review was performed on the current definition and treatment of premature ejaculation., Results: Several definitions were found, however a consensus on how to define premature ejaculation is lacking. In addition, there are several treatments: daily, on demand and topical agents., Conclusions: Premature ejaculation implicated three specific characteristics: short intravaginal ejaculatory latency time, lack of control, and sexual dissatisfaction.

Objectives: This retrospective study compared semen parameters from fertile men of two South American cities (Medellín-Colombia and Petrópolis-Brazil) to investigate their differences in some semen parameters., Methods: We evaluated semen volume using a graduated tube, total progressive motility (a + b) using light microscopy (40X) and sperm concentration using a Neubauer Counting Chamber., Results: We observed that fertile men from Medellín presented a significantly lower volume (p<0.0001), whereas individuals from Petrópolis presented a significantly lower percentage of total progressive motility (p<0.0001). On the other hand, no difference was found in sperm concentration (p>0.05)., Conclusions: In conclusion, this study showed differences in semen parameters between fertile men of these South American populations. We think that these differences could be attributed to the geographical variations, like those observed in other countries. However, new studies are required to investigate this phenomenon and their causes.
