Abstract

The article investigates whether rhythm control versus rate control treatment strategies for atrial fibrillation (AF) have similar effectiveness when applied to a general population of patients with AF with longer follow-up. Results reveal little difference in mortality within four years of treatment initiation between patients with AF initiating rhythm control therapy versus those initiating rate control therapy. Rhythm control therapy, however, appears to be superior in the long-term.
