A CASE of sarcoidosis with several unusual features recently came under observation. The patient presented erythrodermic lesions, a rare manifestation of sarcoidosis, together with subcutaneous nodes consistent with those described as Darier-Roussy's sarcoid. In addition, histologic examination of the nodes revealed asteroid inclusion bodies in giant cells. REPORT OF A CASE1 A 45 year old caretaker first noticed, in the fall of 1942, red slightly scaling patches on the inner aspects of the thighs, in the groins and on the lower part of the abdomen. A few months later similar patches appeared in the right axilla and the right popliteal space. The lesions, which were asymptomatic, slowly increased in size. The presence of erysipeloid in the region of the Great Lakes and its successful treatment by the intragluteal injection of specific serum (Mulford) have recently been recorded. 1 The purpose of this report is to bring to attention another case of this infection and to record the results of treatment by the local injection of specific serum. REPORT OF CASE History.— A white man, aged 26, was first seen on July 16, 1930. Ten days previously, while working in a general biologic laboratory, he had been bitten on the left palm by a turtle. During the following two days he had handled many decomposing lake perch. This report deals with observations on three brothers, all of whom suffered from epidermophytosis and one of whom (case 1) presented a hitherto undescribed clinical type of fungous infection. REPORT OF CASES Case 1.— F. N., aged 16, had a typical eczema marginatum involving the inguinal regions, the adjoining parts of the abdomen and thighs, the lateral side of the right thigh and the left axilla. The toes were erythematous and scaly, particularly in the interdigital folds and on the plantar surface. The process extended to the dorsal surface of the feet, where there were also slightly reddened patches limited by delicate scaly borders. On the central parts of both soles the epithelium was hyperkeratotic, furrowed and markedly scaly.
