With the continuous development of science and technology, UAV technology has been widely used in various fields. As an essential part, light and small UAV platforms have the advantages of being small, lightweight, and easy to operate and thus have been widely used in aerial photography, monitoring, rescue, and other fields. However, the traditional data transmission method can no longer meet the demand for the data transmission speed and stability of small and light UAV platforms. Wireless optical communication has the advantages of being high-speed and license-free, as well as having a large bandwidth strong anti-interference ability, and good confidentiality. Therefore, this paper aims to study high-speed data transmission technology for light and small UAV platforms to improve their transmission speed and stability. In this paper, the characteristics and advantages of UAV airborne laser communication are first elaborated to illustrate the advancements and importance of data transmission technology based on light and small UAV platforms. Then, the composition of a UAV airborne laser communication system is clarified to illustrate the feasibility of conducting airborne laser communication research. Then, the current domestic and international research status of people on light and small UAV airborne laser communication high-speed data transmission systems is reviewed, and its key technical features are analyzed. This paper mainly studies the deployment of hybrid sensors on highways. By constructing the deployment location constraint model, the overall accuracy of sensor deployment can be maximized. In addition, in order to meet the needs of intelligent transportation, the consideration of traffic data communication is added to the work. The highway under study is first divided into several units, and the combination type of sensors is used to represent the possible layout of two adjacent sensors. Then, a 0–1 optimization model reflecting the interaction between the sensor position and the server position is established. Then, a two-step search algorithm is proposed to find the optimal solution of the model and determine the deployment scheme with maximum accuracy. Finally, an example is given to verify the method. The results show that there are significant differences between uniform unit-deployment schemes and non-uniform unit-deployment schemes. Through the sensitivity analysis of each factor, the influence of budget and communication radius on the deployment plan is proven. Existing skeleton-based action recognition methods face the challenges of insufficient spatiotemporal feature mining and a low efficiency of information transmission. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a model called the Spatial–Temporal Attention Residual Network for 3D human action recognition (3D-STARNET). This model significantly improves the performance of action recognition through the following three main innovations: (1) the conversion from skeleton points to heat maps. Using Gaussian transform to convert skeleton point data into heat maps effectively reduces the model's strong dependence on the original skeleton point data and enhances the stability and robustness of the data; (2) a spatiotemporal attention mechanism (STA). A novel spatiotemporal attention mechanism is proposed, focusing on the extraction of key frames and key areas within frames, which significantly enhances the model's ability to identify behavioral patterns; (3) a multi-stage residual structure (MS-Residual). The introduction of a multi-stage residual structure improves the efficiency of data transmission in the network, solves the gradient vanishing problem in deep networks, and helps to improve the recognition efficiency of the model. Experimental results on the NTU-RGBD120 dataset show that 3D-STARNET has significantly improved the accuracy of action recognition, and the top1 accuracy of the overall network reached 96.74%. This method not only solves the robustness shortcomings of existing methods, but also improves the ability to capture spatiotemporal features, providing an efficient and widely applicable solution for action recognition based on skeletal data. Due to the deficiency of radio spectrum resources caused by the progress in technology, cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have made significant progress. CRNs have two types of users, namely, primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs). Considering that PUs have a higher priority and diversified data transmission requirements, this study divides PUs into two levels, namely, PU1s with a higher priority and PU2s with a lower priority. On the other hand, the occurrence of failures is inevitable in CRNs, which affects the data transmission of users. In this paper, combined with an adjustable PU packets transmission rate mechanism, a communication failure and repair mechanism with classified PUs based on the single-channel CRNs is proposed, and different preemption principles are set according to different system states. A queueing model is established and analyzed with a Markov chain, the performance index expressions that need targeted research are listed, numerical experiments are conducted, and the system performance change trends are obtained. The comparison experiment shows that the proposed communication failure and repair mechanism with classified PUs can improve the throughput of PU1 packets and reduce the blocking rate of PU1 packets compared with the conventional communication failure and repair mechanisms with unclassified PUs. As a hot technology trend, the federated learning (FL) cleverly combines data utilization and privacy protection by processing data locally on the client and only sharing model parameters with the server, embodying an efficient and secure collaborative learning model between clients and aggregated Servers. During the process of uploading parameters in FL models, there is susceptibility to unauthorized access threats, which can result in training data leakage. To ensure data security during transmission, the Authentication and Key Agreement (AKA) protocols are proposed to authenticate legitimate users and safeguard training data. However, existing AKA protocols for client–server (C/S) architecture show security deficiencies, such as lack of user anonymity and susceptibility to password guessing attacks. In this paper, we propose a robust 2FAKA-C/S protocol based on ECC and Hash-chain technology. Our security analysis shows that the proposed protocol ensures the session keys are semantically secure and can effectively resist various attacks. The performance analysis indicates that the proposed protocol achieves a total running time of 62.644 ms and requires only 800 bits of communication overhead, showing superior computational efficiency and lower communication costs compared to existing protocols. In recent years, the substantial growth in satellite data transmission tasks and volume, coupled with the limited availability of ground station hardware resources, has exacerbated conflicts among missions and rendered traditional scheduling algorithms inadequate. To address this challenge, this paper introduces an improved tabu genetic hybrid algorithm (ITGA) integrated with heuristic rules for the first time. Firstly, a constraint satisfaction model for satellite data transmission tasks is established, considering multiple factors such as task execution windows, satellite–ground visibility, and ground station capabilities. Leveraging heuristic rules, an initial population of high-fitness chromosomes is selected for iterative refinement. Secondly, the proposed hybrid algorithm iteratively evolves this population towards optimal solutions. Finally, the scheduling plan with the highest fitness value is selected as the best strategy. Comparative simulation experimental results demonstrate that, across four distinct scenarios, our algorithm achieves improvements in the average task success rate ranging from 1.5% to 19.8% compared to alternative methods. Moreover, it reduces the average algorithm execution time by 0.5 s to 28.46 s and enhances algorithm stability by 0.8% to 27.7%. When several hydroacoustic modems operate simultaneously in an area of mutual coverage, collisions of data packets received from several sources may occur, which lead to information loss. With an increase in the number of simultaneously operating hydroacoustic modems, physical layer algorithms do not provide stable data transmission and the likelihood of collisions increases, which makes the operation of modems ineffective. To ensure effective operation in a hydroacoustic signal propagation environment and to reduce collisions when exchanging data between two modems that do not have the ability to operate synchronously and to reduce the access time to the signal propagation environment, methods of the medium access control layer using link layer protocols are required. Typically, this problem is solved using code separation of hydroacoustic channels. If you need to transfer over a network, this option will not work, since network transfer involves working on the basis of "broadcast" messages, particularly between data source and data sink that remain too far from each other, outside of their mutual audibility. In practical use, it is convenient to place these protocols into a software environment for developing specific user applications for solving network communication problems. This software framework allows for custom modification of existing network algorithms, as well as the inclusion of new network hydroacoustic communication algorithms. To build a predictive model, the DACAP, T-Lohi, Flooding, and ICRP protocols were used in this work. The implementation is performed in Erlang. In this paper, a set of cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission schemes is proposed, in which two half-duplex relaying user terminals (UTs) successively deliver the AP signals toward two NOMA UTs. The successive relaying (SR) of two HD relays emulates the full-duplex (FD) relaying transmission such that the whole transmission of one data block is finished in one time slot. Different from FD relaying, where the removal of self-interference (SI) at the relay is challenging, the SR is suffering from cross-relay interference (CRI) between the two HD relays and the handling of this CRI is the key technical challenge. This CRI suppression is implemented by beamforming with multiple antennas at the relaying UTs, while the beamforming also does the role of maximizing the NOMA transmission efficiency. Two beamforming schemes are proposed, where the first method employs semi-definite relaxation (SDR) with four dimensional (4-D) search. Here, the four dimensions come from the four parameters reflecting the CRI levels at the relaying UTs and signal strengths at the NOMA UTs. This scheme alternates until the 4-D search range is reduced and the sum throughput rate saturates. The second method is computationally simpler than the first one since it avoids the SDR and alternation, and it finds the beamformer set in one shot calculation. Both schemes rely on zero forcing of the CRI. These two schemes along with the HDR relay-based cooperative NOMA scheme are compared in the numerical experiments, and the results exhibit their pros and cons in several aspects. Data caching is a promising technique to alleviate the data traffic burden from the backhaul and minimize data access delay. However, the cache capacity constraint poses a significant challenge to obtaining content through the cache resource that degrades the caching performance. In this paper, we propose a novel two-tier caching mechanism for data caching on mobile user equipment (UE) and the small base station (SBS) level in ultra-dense 6G heterogeneous networks for reducing data access failure via cache resources. The two-tier caching enables users to retrieve their desired content from cache resources through device-to-device (D2D) communications from neighboring users or the serving SBS. The cache-enabled UE exploits millimeter-wave (mmWave)-based D2D communications, utilizing line-of-sight (LoS) links for high-speed data transmission to content-demanding mobile UE within a limited connection time. In the event of D2D communication failures, a dual-mode hybrid system, combining mmWave and microwave μ Wave technologies, is utilized to ensure effective data transmission between the SBS and UE to fulfill users' data demands. In the proposed framework. the data transmission speed is optimized through mmWave signals in line-of-sight (LoS) conditions. In non-LoS scenarios, the system switches to μ Wave mode for obstacle-penetrating signal transmission. Subsequently, we propose a reinforcement learning (RL) approach to optimize cache decisions through the approximation of the Q action-value function. The proposed technique undergoes iterative learning, adapting to dynamic network conditions to enhance the content placement policy and minimize delay. With the booming development of the Internet of Things (IoT) industry, millions of data are generated every day. How to use and manage these data safely and efficiently has become a hot issue of concern to people. Due to the accumulation of IoT data, the isolated data island phenomenon makes it difficult to connect and interact with each data owner, and the security and privacy of IoT data also become a challenge. Blockchain is a decentralized database technology that uses distributed accounting to ensure reliable data transmission and access, along with smart contracts that can be executed automatically to program and manipulate data. At the same time, blockchain techniques have stronger security and privacy, which can better meet the needs of users. In this paper, we analyze the current management mode and challenges of IoT data and propose an IoT data platform based on blockchain. The proposed platform takes into account important factors including IoT data traceability, IoT data trusted transactions, etc. Our IoT data platform achieves the trusted management and transaction of IoT data. The development of new telecommunication services requires the implementation of advanced technologies and the next generations of networks. Currently, the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is a widely used standard. On the other hand, more and more mobile network operators (MNOs) are implementing the fifth-generation (5G) New Radio standard in their networks. It allows for increasing throughput, spectral, and energy efficiency and maximizing coverage, while reducing latency. The effectiveness of the introduced changes is measured by assessing the quality of service (QoS) in mobile networks. The paper presents the result evaluation of the QoS measurement campaign carried out using the drive test method in an urban area for four MNOs. We analyze the data transmission scenario, which is the basis of most modern telecommunications services. The result comparison provides an assessment of the 5G service implementation advancement by MNOs. In this analysis, we consider many QoS metrics (e.g., session time, throughput, and round-trip time) and parameters defining the radio signal quality (i.e., reference signal received power, signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio). Our work also included searching for relationships between these parameters, using a correlation analysis. Wire and cable are important industrial products involving the national economy and people's livelihood, which are hailed as the "blood vessel" and "nerve" of the national economy, providing the basic guarantee for the normal operation of modern economy and society. The data traceability of their production and circulation process is a key factor in ensuring their quality and safety management. We aim to solve the problems of unsafe data transmission, weak quality control, and information islands in the process of wire and cable quality traceability in order to improve the production management efficiency of wire and cable manufacturing enterprises and to reduce the cost of consumer quality traceability of wire and cable products. We analyzed the technical characteristics and advantages of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) identity resolution and the blockchain. Key technologies are introduced, a traceability method that integrates the two is proposed, and a quality traceability framework based on the IIoT identity resolution system and blockchain technology is constructed. By analyzing the quality information composition of the wire and cable supply chain, a new quality traceability model based on the wire and cable supply chain is established. Finally, through the verification of the developed quality traceability system, the quality traceability function and quality information of each production link of wire and cable are successfully realized. This paper fills a gap in the field of cable product quality traceability using the combination of IIoT and blockchain technology. Multiple access techniques for 5G systems are based on principles related to security, efficiency, and performance increase. Multi-user shared access (MUSA) is included in code-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (CD-NOMA) techniques with multiple benefits including multiple-access interference minimization and system capacity increase. The additional benefits of MUSA include its grant-free nature, which makes it applicable to scenarios involving random access channels, minimal latency communications, etc. Depending on the high-frequency diversity of the fading-affected channels, this technique is also used to lessen their effects. This paper illustrates the concept of code correlation used in MUSA by proposing a method to allocate MUSA codes to active users in an uplink data transmission system based on clusters. This clustering approach (grouping of 3GPP TR 38.812 spreading codewords) enables performance improvement in different system configurations by implementing various scenarios and providing reliable results. It is demonstrated that four-length spreading code selection from 3GPP family codes is a satisfactory solution, and this cluster grouping can be designed in a less overloaded multi-user system. With the development and popularization of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Vehicle Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) have attracted extensive attention as a key technology. In order to achieve real-time monitoring, VANET technology enables vehicles to collect real-time traffic updates through information collection devices and transmit this information to Roadside Units (RSUs), which are processed and integrated by an information processing center. However, high vehicle density leads to a conflict between minimizing the interval for vehicles to send Basic Safety Messages (BSMs) to RSUs and the limited communication resources of VANETs. To address this issue, we propose a MAC protocol based on the 802.11 CSMA/CA mechanism with the Preemptive-Resume Priority scheme. The arbitration device provides preemptive service to data packets with higher priority levels, thereby reducing data transmission delay. Moreover, queuing theory is employed to calculate the total delay for vehicles to send BSMs to a drone receiver, minimizing the BSM transmission interval and achieving minimal delay to meet safety driving requirements. Monitoring and classifying cognitive workload in real time is vital for optimizing human–machine interactions and enhancing performance while ensuring safety, particularly in industrial scenarios. Considering this significance, the authors aim to formulate a cognitive workload monitoring system (CWMS) by leveraging the deep gated neural network (DGNN), a hybrid model integrating bi-directional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU) networks. In our experimental setup, each of the four virtual users is equipped with a Raspberry Pi Zero W module to ensure efficient data transmission, thereby enhancing the reliability and efficacy of the monitoring process. This seamless monitoring framework utilizes the constrained application protocol (CoAP) and the Things Board platform to evaluate cognitive workload in real time. The most popular EEG benchmark dataset, the STEW is utilized for workload classification in this study. We employ the short-time Fourier transformation (STFT) to extract frequency bands corresponding to users in both high and low cognitive workload modes. The proposed DGNN models achieve a perfect accuracy of 99.45%, outperforming every previous state-of-the-art model. We meticulously monitored critical parameters, including latency, classification processing time, and cognitive workload levels. This research demonstrates the importance of continuous monitoring for increasing productivity and safety in industries by introducing a novel method of real-time cognitive workload monitoring. A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wireless network composed of sensor nodes, widely used in military, industrial, and agricultural fields. In these practical application scenarios, due to the limited routing search ability of wireless sensor nodes and the small coverage range of a WSN, it faces the problem of a relatively short network lifecycle. Therefore, increasing a WSN's coverage range and reducing node energy consumption are of high value. This article proposes a method of using the ant colony algorithm (ACOD) to calculate the optimal routing of a WSN, the K-means algorithm for clustering, and the whale algorithm (WOA) and a backpropagation (BP) neural network to increase the coverage range of a WSN. After multiple experiments, the total energy consumption of WSN nodes has been effectively reduced, the coverage range of the WSN has been increased, and the lifecycle of the WSN has been extended. Federated learning has emerged as a promising approach for collaborative model training across distributed devices. Federated learning faces challenges such as Non-Independent and Identically Distributed (non-IID) data and communication challenges. This study aims to provide in-depth knowledge in the federated learning environment by identifying the most used techniques for overcoming non-IID data challenges and techniques that provide communication-efficient solutions in federated learning. The study highlights the most used non-IID data types, learning models, and datasets in federated learning. A systematic mapping study was performed using six digital libraries, and 193 studies were identified and analyzed after the inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied. We identified that enhancing the aggregation method and clustering are the most widely used techniques for non-IID data problems (used in 18% and 16% of the selected studies), and a quantization technique was the most common technique in studies that provide communication-efficient solutions in federated learning (used in 27% and 15% of the selected studies). Additionally, our work shows that label distribution skew is the most used case to simulate a non-IID environment, specifically, the quantity label imbalance. The supervised learning model CNN model is the most commonly used learning model, and the image datasets MNIST and Cifar-10 are the most widely used datasets when evaluating the proposed approaches. Furthermore, we believe the research community needs to consider the client's limited resources and the importance of their updates when addressing non-IID and communication challenges to prevent the loss of valuable and unique information. In Internet of Vehicles (IoV), the secure data transmission between vehicles and transportation infrastructure effectively ensures the safety and fast driving of vehicles, while authentication and key agreement protocols between vehicles and transportation infrastructure (V2I) play an important role in ensuring data security and user privacy. However, how to design a provably secure and lightweight V2I authentication protocol for IoV is a challenge. Recently, Kumar et al. proposed a conditional privacy-preserving and desynchronization-resistant authentication protocol for IoV, but we find that Kumar et al.'s scheme is vulnerable to identity guessing attacks, impersonation attacks, and a lack of session key secrecy once the attacker obtains data stored in smart card through side-channel attacks. We also point out that Kumar et al.'s protocol is vulnerable to Roadside Unit (RSU) captured attacks and lacks perfect forward secrecy. Therefore, we propose an improved V2I authentication protocol for IoV, which uses the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) to resist RSU captured attacks, and designed a three-factor secrecy strategy to resist side-channel attacks; a conditional privacy-preserving strategy was also adopted to achieve anonymity and malicious user tracking. With the rapid deployment of intelligent transportation systems in real-life applications, both dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) and cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X), utilized to enable V2X communication, are undergoing extensive development to meet the quality of service (QoS) demands of advanced vehicular applications and scenarios. Compared to C-V2X, which lacks fully validated effective reliability, DSRC has undergone extensive field testing worldwide, ensuring its practicality. IEEE 802.11bd, as the next-generation V2X (NGV) standard within DSRC, is expected to greatly exceed the performance of its predecessor, 802.11p. However, existing studies mention that the ambient traffic environment will influence the performance of V2X due to the cyber-physical properties of V2X. To fully assess the advancements of NGV, this study presents a comparative analysis of IEEE 802.11bd and IEEE 802.11p, focusing on dynamic traffic conditions. Specifically, the technical advancements of the IEEE 802.11bd standard are first theoretically examined, emphasizing significant enhancements in aspects like modulation and coding schemes, coding rates, and channel coding. Subsequently, these critical technical enhancements are implemented in Veins, a simulation framework for the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), encompassing large-scale dynamic traffic scenarios. The simulation results indicate that the IEEE 802.11bd standard significantly enhances the data transfer rate compared to IEEE 802.11p, achieving a stable twofold increase. Furthermore, the data transmission latency is reduced by over half compared to IEEE 802.11p, while the data transmission reliability experiences a noteworthy 20% enhancement. Notably, the enhanced data transmission mode of the IEEE 802.11bd standard requires an increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The popularity of fog-enabled smart cities is increasing due to the advantages provided by modern communication and information technologies, which contribute to an improved quality of life. Wireless networks make them more vulnerable when the network is under malicious attacks that cause a collision in the medium. Furthermore, diverse applications of smart cities demand a contention-free medium access control (MAC) protocol to meet adaptive data requirements. In this work, a time-slot-based medium access control protocol to meet adaptive data requirements (TMPAD) for IoT nodes in fog-enabled smart cities is proposed. TMPAD proposes a trust mechanism to differentiate malicious and legitimate data requests. In addition, it accommodates more legitimate data-requesting nodes to transfer their data during a session by applying the technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and 0/1 knapsack algorithm. The performance of TMPAD is compared with well-known techniques such as first come first serve (FCFS), shortest job first (SJF), and longest job first (LJF) in different prospective scenarios. The results show that TMPAD scrutinizes more data-requesting nodes in slot allocation, allowing more data transmission in a session, with better mean trust value, as compared to other algorithms. This manuscript presents an experimental study of Quadrature Chaos Shift Keying (QCSK) as a means to tighten the physical layer security of Internet of Things (IoT) communication. Our study examines the characteristics and operational aspects of chaos oscillators, prioritizing low-power functionality, resilient chaotic oscillations, and resistance to parameter variations and noise. This study emphasizes the key role of chaos oscillators in enhancing IoT security, showcasing their potential to ensure data integrity. The current work is focused on studying the performance of the Pecora–Carroll synchronization technique to achieve synchronization between the analog and discrete chaos oscillators. The importance of this study is supported by the growing applications of chaotic systems for improving the security of data transmission in various communication layers, primarily on the physical layer. The hybrid analog-discrete approach of implementing chaos oscillators opens new possible communication schemes for wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. The analog implementation of chaos oscillators can benefit the simpler sensor node (SN) integration, while the discrete implementation can be used on the gateway. However, the core of such chaos-based communications is synchronizing analog and discrete chaos oscillators. This work studies two key parameters of analog-discrete chaotic synchronization: chaotic synchronization noise immunity and synchronization speed. The noise immunity study demonstrates the quality of synchronization at various noise levels, while the synchronization speed demonstrates how quickly the analog-discrete synchronization is achieved, along with how quickly the two systems diverge when synchronization is no longer present. The two studies use both simulation-based and hardware-based approaches. In the simulation case, the analog oscillator's circuit is modeled in LTspice XVII, while in the hardware case, the circuit is implemented on the PCB. In both simulation and hardware studies, the discrete model of the oscillator is implemented in MATLAB R2023b. The studies are performed for two pairs of different chaos oscillators to widen the proposed approach application potential: the Vilnius and RC chaos oscillators. The oscillators have been selected due to their simplicity and similar dynamic behavior for model-based and electrical circuit implementation.
