Abstract

The relationship between the bipolar resistive switching and the polarization reversal is investigated at various temperatures in the Au/BiFeO3/SrRuO3 structure. It is found that the polarization-induced barrier variation in the Au/BiFeO3 and BiFeO3/SrRuO3 junctions decreases with decreasing temperature. This explains why the resistance-switching ratio decreases with decreasing temperature below 323K and gives evidence that the polarization modulates the resistance state of the Au/BiFeO3/SrRuO3 structure. Besides, the oxygen vacancies migration and/or the carrier trapping/detrapping mechanisms are also suggested to play a very important role in the resistive switching behavior in this structure as the temperature goes above 323 K. Abstract

Ultrathin (15 nm) Fe3O4 nanocrystalline films with (111) spinel texture have been prepared by rapid annealing of amorphous ion oxide films. Large low field magnetoresistance (LFMR), with the values of about -6.3% at 300 K and -10% at 200 K under a field of 0.5 T, has been observed in the films. The LFMR is mainly attributed to the boundary tunneling of high spin-polarized electrons in Fe3O4 grains of the films and nearly follows a simple relationship between MR and polarization for intergranular tunneling. The fabricating method here seems to be a good approach to prepare high quality Fe3O4 nanocrystalline films with a large LFMR at room temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Strained La0.8Ba0.2MnO3 thin films on SrTiO3 (100) substrate are grown by an off-axis sputtering technique. It is found that the ferromagnetic temperature TC increases for thinner films. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy indicates that Sr diffuses partially into the film, making it structurally nonuniform. The region close to the film/substrate interface acts as La1-x(SryBa1-y)xMnO3 with a near negligible y for the as grown film and a non-negligible amount of y for the high-temperature postannealed film. The enhancement of TC is attributed to the combination of the strain and interdiffusion effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
