With the rapid development of transportation, the vulnerability of bridge under blast loading has more and more attracted people's attention. To ensure the safety of the bridge under the impact of blast loading is very important. This article describes the current situation of bridge structure antiknock research in China and other countries. What’s more, pointed out the shortcomings of existing research and presented that the antiknock research of bridge structure should combine numerical simulation with model test at the same time. This article researches the stress, strain and bridge damage rule of 1: 5 model of T-beam Bridge under explosion effect of small doses explosive.

Accurate surface modeling of washing liquid bottle is to get through RP technology. Point cloud data of washing liquid bottle is obtained by hand-held laser scanner and processed by Imageware software, 3D model is got by Pro/E. Rapid prototyping machine is used to print solid model. High precision model built by ABS is easily got without complex processes.

Resources of wind power due to its presence greater volatility, increasing the difficulty of regulating for the power grid. In the supply side, by installing thermal storage device to the cogeneration units so as to increase the adjusting capacity in the supply side of the power system, in the load side, the wind power heating system added heat storage device, increasing the load that can be adjusted. These two measures could be better to solve the problem that part of the abandoned wind. In this paper, analyzed the theoretical basis of each system briefly, added thermal storage device in electric –thermal combine system, and the thermal storage device installation position has been described too. Due mostly theoretical on thermal storage device is about the thermodynamic aspects, it is rather strange for electricity workers, so in this electrical-thermal combined system, its thermal storage devices and electric boiler thermal model have been made a simple analysis and described its control strategy. The control strategy was a comprehensive coordination to the power grid, meanwhile, taking into account the hysteresis characteristics, delay effects and daily regulation plan features of the thermodynamic parameters of thermal storage system make a reasonable start-stop control strategy finally.

With the rapid development of wind power industry, the wind power absorption problem has become an increasingly severe challenge which China's power industry is faced with. In fact, through the configuration of large capacity thermal storage devices in the existing power system, an electrothermal association system is formed by combining electric power system with thermal system, which can not only increase the peak load regulation capacity of the system, but also increase local load, thus greatly improving the wind power absorptive capacity of electric power system. This paper will make an systematic analysis of the mechanism of promoting the wind power absorptive capacity of electric power system by utilizing thermal storage devices, and the feasibility and prospect of the proposed plan by combining with the actual situation of Ningxia, and lays the foundation for the further study of thermal storage devices in electrical power system.

The line overload is discussed and the coordination and optimization model of preventive and emergency control is proposed in this paper. It combines with the sensitivity’s concept and reverse phase equivalent matching adjustment principle, takes into account the severity of the accident probability and consequences, and introduces the important factor of the corresponding accident; adjust automatically according to the influence degree of the accident to the power grid. Getting reasonable coordination optimization strategies to ensure the safety and economy of the system is effective and verified by this paper.

The structure and performances of melt-spun PAN precursor fiber were studied by combination of SEM, DSC, UV and so on. The tensile strength of melt-spun PAN precursor fiber is 0.68GPa. The surface is very smooth and the cross-section is around. Due to the partially cyclized structure of melt-spun precursor fiber, the exothermic peak becomes broader with reducing intensity in compared with commercial fibers from solution-spun.

Biochar has been applied in soil amelioration due to its multiple agricultural and environmental benefits. Biochar sample (BC) and biochar-based amendment (AD) were added into a poor quality soil (light sierozem) collected from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region at the rates of 0%, 1.5%, 3% and 5% (w/w), respectively. Maize (Zea mays) was chosen as a test plant, and the effect of BC and AD on its growth was investigated. The results indicated that the maize biomass increased by 44.4-96.2% and 113.8-187.3% in the soils amended with BC and AD, respectively. Therefore, BC and AD may be used as the poor quality soil amendments.

Several factors influencing the performance of PV-integrated double-skin façade were analyzed. We used CFD numerical method to investigate the influence of width, height, outlet size and the angle of photovoltaic plate on the performance of PV channel based on the summer typical meteorological parameter. The PV-integrated double-skin façade were installed at east orientation in Shanghai. The recommended value of height and other factors were obtained. Height and the angle of photovoltaic plate were two most important factors which should be considered specially in the design of PV-integrated double-skin façade.

In this paper, to solve the problem of measuring angle for broadband single-pulse radar, we proposed the method comparing the magnitude combined with comparing phase to measuring angle which has a more accuracy measurement. It improves the resolution of the radar angle. We analyzed the theoretical effectiveness from the perspective of function. For the amplitude and phase information which used in target angle measurement, we use two-dimensional FFT algorithm to extract them. Simulation results show that this method can accurately measure the angle of radar target.

The cylindrical shells under global bending with different geometric parameters display different failure behavior. The size of typical buckles under axial compressive stress regimes is rather small and extends over a very small zone, with the axial compressive stress reaching the critical value. The first estimate of the elastic buckling strength in bending is the condition in which the most compressed fiber reaches the buckling stress for uniform axial compression. For short cylinders, local bifurcation buckling occurs at the middle of the most compressed side of the shell, and geometric nonlinearity has a little effect on the buckling strength, while for medium-length and long cylinders, the geometric nonlinearity and the ovalization of the cross-section should be considered. This paper explores the failure behavior in elastic cylinders in pure bending.

With the rapid development of power transmission and transformation projects in China, steel supporting structure has already became the most popular structural form for these structures. However, the limit of steel grade used for current substation supporting structures is normally Q420, compared with that of Q690 used in other countries. When the high-strength steel is used, the geometric parameters of section for members become smaller, and the stability of members is the most important factors to influence the bearing capacity of structures. The stability factor for axial loaded steel members in current 《Code for design of steel structures》(GB50017-2003) was derived based on the experimental results for steel members with lower steel grade, the results are inevitably different from those for high-strength steel members. To make the calculations of Q690 high-strength steel tubes more accurate and reasonable, this paper conducts experimental study on the bearing capacity of Q690 high-strength steel tubes under axial load to provide scientific basis for practical design of these structures.

As a substantial power loss, the high speed automotive hydraulic power steering outputs normally exceeds the system actual demands, which is one of the practical difficulties of that kind of power steering. A new type of variable displacement of double-action vane pump based on the study of a patent is described in this issue, which could be applied in the auto steering pump. Considering of the severe energy cost in existing hydraulic power steering system, the recommended pump could compensate the rate. Based on the pump principle, the interior structure design of the pump could be improved to achieve saving energy. A rational pump structure is designed for lower energy lost according to the research on the characteristics of the variable mechanism under various speed, working conditions of the improved vane pump structure and the energy saving theory. Compared to the traditional double-action vane pump, the new vane could not only keep the advantages such as balance of radial suffer force for rotor but also change the displacement automatically according to different speeds. The transformation regulation applying on the variable mechanism floating block under different rotating speeds is analyzed derived according to the engineering dynamics principles and the dynamics model of variable framework is set up in the same way. Some MATLAB simulations are utilized to show a theoretical feasibility proof of the project.

Risk management has been a part of enterprise engineering construction projects. Since previous studies mostly analyzed in a qualitative way. This paper utilized in a more quantitative way, which merges the use of questionnaires and the use of risk assessment formula for data processing. The results show that the probability and consequences of corporate construction projects in 18 career malpractice risk events fall into four categories: high-risk and high-probability, high-risk and low-probability, low risk and high probability, low risk and low probability. And accordingly it puts forward the corresponding countermeasures.

Bond-slip properties of concrete reinforced by bamboo-based fiber composites were investigated. The influences of strength grade of concrete, bond length, strength grade of bamboo-bar and section form were studied based on the L16(45) orthogonal experiment. The function law was uncovered to support the anchoring checking between concrete and bamboo-based fiber composites. The results show that: the tensile strength of bamboo-based fiber composites stables at 200Mpa with large inflation rate; section form of the composites is the key influencing factor, but should not be too large; bond length and strength grade of concrete are important factors; tensile strength of the composites is not significant factor. C35 concrete, 50 mm bond length, 200Mpa tensile strength of the composites and 10mm*10mm section form are the optimal combinations.

As the estimating of natural gas consumption can provide a better guidance target to gas production and market development ,its accuracy is playing an extremely important role in both the reasonable programming of oil and gas field development management and the promotion of economic benefits. This article builds a mathematical model of combinatorial optimization based on the natural gas consumption data of China, and solves it then by means of MATLAB .Compared with the actual value, the deviation of the combinatorial optimization worked out less than that in the single calculating method. When applied to the real production, this model can provide theoretical evidence to the programming of oil and gas development management and the adjustment of development project as well.

In the background of a foundation pit excavation project on Yanan Road in Hangzhou City, this study simulated the excavation of foundation pit above an underground tunnel using 3D MIDAS/GTS software. The combined action of foundation pit, ground and tunnel were considered. The influence of foundation pit excavation on the deformation of underlain shield tunnel was evaluated and simulations were carried out on the effectiveness of different strengthening and control approaches. Results from the research showed that during the stages of piling and ground strengthening, settlement occurred at the tunnel; with the excavation of foundation pit, uplift deformation at the bottom of the foundation pit and the tunnel increased; with stricter strengthening and control techniques employed, the magnitude of uplift at the tunnel and bottom of the foundation pit reduced, suggesting that various control procedures were effective to some extent.

Simulation method has become an increasing important problem to establish the trustworthiness of models in the finite element simulations. Finite element models in sheet metal forming, which involves large deformations, large displacement and friction, are uncertainly with different methods. Finite element models based on different Lagrangian methods have been used to analyze the deep drawing process. The tools are modeled as rigid surfaces. The blank is modeled as a deformable body. The interaction of sliding surfaces is modeled with a modified Coulomb friction law. The Finite element results of strain and thickness distributions are validated by comparison with the experiment. It is shown that the main difference of Total Lagrangian formulation (T.L.) and Updated Lagrangian formulation (U.L.) lies in the large displacement and deformation, whilst agree well with small displacement and deformation.

Development of normal stress in the direction perpendicular to the asphalt mixture is an important feature of the nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of asphalt binders. In this paper, this phenomenon was studied with the help of stress-relaxation experiments in torsion. Results indicate that stress relaxation test by controlling strain could be used to evaluate the stress relaxation ability of asphalt mixture. With the aging degree of asphalt mixtures increased, the low temperature cracking resistance got worse; the higher the temperature is, the faster the stress relaxed; the smaller the initial strain, the worse the stress relaxation ability also. The viscoelasticity of asphalt mixture could be simulated by exponential model fractional and the experiments well supported the modeling results.

In order to simplify the structure of switching valve groups and reduce the failure rate in the high pressure abrasive jet mixing system, a combined switch valve for the system has been designed. The combined switching valve can implement a motor to drive four spools for two open and two closed electric control switch of high pressure abrasive jet mixing system, which has the advantages of compact structure, small space occupation, convenient control and high reliability.

Owing to the scale of power distribution system’s continuously expanding, the closing loop operation is usually needed to meet the demand for the reliability of power supply. However, during the course of this operation, a larger AC surge current with 4~5 times of normal value will be induced, and the surge current can cause the equipped over-current protection take action incorrectly. In this paper, a hybrid type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is suggested to installing into the distribution system, which will take action to inhibit the closing-loop transient surge current by using current-limiting impedance during the transient process. Furthermore, the simulation model of a typical distribution network with the hybrid type SFCL is built through PSCAD/EMTDC software. From the simulation results, it is verified that the suggested hybrid type SFCL can obviously reduce the surge current and improve the power system’s operational stability.

With the rapid development of economy, the role of transportation is getting more and more highlighted. It has a great increase of various transport and private vehicles which will be followed by the problems such as congestions, accidents and the pollution; however, it is infeasible to ease the traffic pressure by improving the road infrastructure only. How to use modern science and technology and schedule transportation sufficiently and reasonably to avoid the above problems is the main purpose for this research. This paper took advantage of the background-difference method [1-to get the vehicle count in accordance with MATLAB image processing technology.

In smart transmitters with HART protocol, the HART physical layer implementation is critical for reliable communication. For the existing smart pressure transmitter circuit is complex and unstable, this paper designed a simple and reliable circuit in accordance with HART physical layer specifications. The design uses AD421 and AD5700-1 constitute a 4-to-20mA loop-powered smart transmitter circuit, is fully compatible with standard HART or other similar FSK protocols. The smart transmitter using this circuit has passed the HART certification by HART communication foundation. This implementation can be applied to other smart transmitters.

High temperature pyrolysis of sawdust was achieved by using the analytical Py-GC/MS technique which allowed the on-line analysis of the pyrolysis product.The experiments at the different temperatures (700-1000°C) and the different mass ratios of CaO to sawdust (0%,10%,30%,50%) were carried out,respectively. At different temperatures, the distribution of condensable products considerably changed. At 700°C,the aromatic hydrocarbon yield were 0.9% of the total peak area. However, the aromatic hydrocarbon yield reached 59.4% of the total peak area at 1000°C, which might be due to the occurrence of the condensation polymerization at high temperature. CaO had a positive effect on decreasing the yield of the condensable products of sawdust pyrolysis, but did not remarkably change the distribution of the condensable products.

The effect of Nd on the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy AZ91 has been studied. The results show that the addition of 1wt.%Nd can refine the grain size, cause the formation of high melting point Al2Nd phase and reduce the amount of β-Mg17Al12 phase. and enhance the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy AZ91 at room temperature and 150°C.

Different temperature joint treatments in Changchun International Trade Center are discussed in detail in this thesis, and meanwhile the structure treatment of 25.5m-tall non-lateral support that is formed during the design of temperature joint structure is introduced in detail. The treatment introduced in this thesis has already been applied in the real construction practice.

Industrial designers generally are not following the natural ecological law,and their purpose is not to design the most satisfying products by using the least amount of raw materials and the lowest energy consumption and simultaneously prolong durability of the products. This article explores the problems which are caused during the process of industrial design with the view of ecological nature, aims at finding the measures to deal with those problems so as to coordinate the relationship among human being, products and environment during the process of industrial design eventually. From the perspective of ideology, we must rebuild the belief that man and nature are an interdependent integrity; From the perspective our practice, we must stick to the sustainable development.This is the only way to make the products benefit both human and nature and to achieve the harmonious development between human being and nature.

Laser peen forming, is a purely mechanical forming method achieved through the use of laser energy to form metal plate with small curvatures. Experiments were performed to investigate the effect of pre-bending on the plate bending deformation induced by laser peen forming. The pre-bending of plate was accomplished by a fixture with the cambered top surface. The pre-bending curvature radius is calculated and is used to design cambered surface. The LPF experiments are performed with Nd: YAG laser with overlapping laser spots. It is found that the convex deformation can be induced after laser shocks. And its curvature radius in the elastically elongated direction can be greatly increased by applying pre-bending, while in the perpendicular direction, the curvature radius is decreased.

The microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-9Gd-2Y-1Sm-0.5Zr alloy have been studied by micro-analysis and tensile tests. The results showed that the alloy mainly consists of α-Mg matrix, Mg5Gd and Mg24Y5. With the increase of temperature, the tensile strength of the alloy increases at first and then decreases, and the peak appears at 250°C.

After the design project of diamond wire cutting machine, we try to optimize the design of its main structurebed. In this paper, we shall first make three-dimensional modeling on the bed with Solidworks, and then do modal analysis with Ansys, from which we can get its five natural frequencies and vibration patterns, verify the accuracy of the finite element model. Finally, the optimization measures will be summarized.

The thesis puts forward an inter-stator synchronous combined control algorithm based on Space Vector Modulation Direct Thrust Control (SVM-DTC), which can overcome the difficulties of conventional SVM-DTC method applied in PWD-PMLSM. Because the electromagnetic parameters of the motor will change significantly when the shuttle pass through the junction of the two stators. Therefore, it must process the two stators flux linkage and thrust simultaneously. Theoretical analysis illustrates that this algorithm not only maintains high-transient response of DTC but also minimizes the inherent problems of thrust ripple in DTC. Ultimately, the simulation shows this method presents the favorable effects of the transient and steady state including excellent thrust stability in the process of shuttle transits between stators.

Fiber morphology, chemical composition and wood characteristic of fast-growing black poplar branch were studied. Meanwhile, pulping performance of it used for alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp (APMP) was discussed preliminarily. The research results showed that the fast-growing black poplar branch can be used as raw materials for APMP pulping and papermaking.

This paper studies the chemical composition of biodiesel, cold flow properties, and the influence of chemical composition on cold filter plugging point (CFPP) by using GC-MS and CFPP tester according to the theories of crystallization. Using the method of multivariate linear regression to analyze the correlation between chemical composition and CFPP, the prediction model of CFPP which has a very significant linear correlation and is based on chemical composition is built. The study shows that biodiesel is mainly fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) that is composed of 14-24 even number carbon atoms (C14:0~C24:0 , C16:1~C22:1, C18:2~C20:2 and C18:3). The CFPP increases linearly with the increase of the content of SFAME and the longer the carbon chains are, the greater the increase will be; the CFPP decreases linearly with the increase of the content of UFAME. Among the 120 kinds of biodiesel we studied, the CFPP of Chinese tallow methyl ester (CTME) is the lowest (-14 °C) and the CFPP of peanut methyl ester (PNME) is the highest (13 °C).

To solve evaluation problem of the structure design of the supporting plate of the steaming Bucket, a evaluation method based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation was presented for the Supporting Plate. Membership functions for the quantitative and qualitative indicators were built by using the fuzzy statistical test method and fuzzy distribution. On the basis, the evaluation model was built based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, each layer of which was evaluated respectively, and suggests the evaluation results of structure analysis of the supporting plate. The instance analysis shows that the method is reasonable and effective.

The Grid task scheduling algorithm is proposed that takes the service quality of resource scheduling, time and cost together into consideration, so that it can better meet user tasks Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and make the complex grid environment open. On the basis of the price model drove by supply and demand in economy, we design the Grid task scheduling algorithm in the market economy model. The experiment results indicate the effectiveness of proposed algorithm in terms of usersQoS guarantee. It reduce data access latency and decrease bandwidth consumption.

Common methods of obtaining the pedestrian movement parameters include the video processing and the manual statistics. Nevertheless, both the two ways may be complicated and time consuming. In this paper, we propose a new method to calculate the flow and count the number of pedestrians of exit-selection based on RFID technology. The proposed method is validated by comparing with the results obtained from the two different methods, the RFID method and the video processing. It is found that the identified rate of the reader reaches 90% and about 90% of the errors of exit time are less than 0.075. Besides, all the errors of exit time are less than 0.1. About 80% of the errors of exit flow are less than 0.1 and 90% are less than 0.2. It is also verified the new method is much easier than the traditional video processing and more time-saving than the manual process. It is hoped that, more data of pedestrian movement parameters can be easily and quickly extracted through the method proposed in this study.

The chemical composition of palm and rapeseed biodiesel (fatty acid methyl ester, FAME) was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Combustion characteristics of biodiesel were studied by thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry and collision theory. Combustion characteristic index C was put forward for describing biodiesel combustion characteristic. The reactive atom combustion mechanism was put forward. Biodiesel combustion process comprised three steps, viz., volatilizing, dissociating and combining. First, biodiesel volatilizes, viz., FAME (liquid) volatilize and became FAME (gas). Second, FAME, O2 and N2 molecular were dissociated into C*, H*, O* and N* reactive atoms. Third, C*, H* and N* reacted, respectively, with O* to CO2, CO, H2O and NOx, and released energy. The study showed that the biodiesel was mainly composed of FAME: C14:0-C24:0, C16:1-C22:1, C18:2 and C18:3. Biodiesel had a good burnability. Combustion characteristic indexes of palm methyl ester (PME) and rapeseed methyl ester (RME) were 4.97E-05 and 3.65E-05, respectively. The combustion characteristic had relation to chemical composition. The combustion characteristic of biodiesel was better with increasing saturated fatty acid methyl esters and length of carbon-chain, and was poorer with increasing unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters and unsaturated degree. The combustion characteristic of PME was better than that of RME.

The V2O5films were prepared by the (radio frequency)RF sputtering. The transmission of the samples under different deposition pressures and different Ar/O2flow ratios was investigated to determine the fundamental preparation condition for the further analysis. On the fundamental condition, the security volt of V2O5was determined. It is concluded that the annealing makes the V2O5films have a good reversibility but lowers the electrochromic property.

Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a global algorithm which is inspired by birds flocking and fish schooling. PSO has shown good search ability in many complex optimization problems, but premature convergence is still a main problem. A novel hybrid PSO(NHPSO) was proposed, which employed hybrid strategies, including dynamic step length (DSL) and opposition-based learning (OBL). DSL is helpful to enhance local search ability of PSO, and OBL is beneficial for improving the quality of candidate solutions. In order to verify the performance of NHPSO, we test it on several benchmark functions. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach.

In the period of real time mechanical analysis and life style detection to the excavation tunnel equipment's cutter head, it is a necessity for the signals sensed by detection unit to be pretreatment processed. It closely concerns with the accuracy and validity of whole mechanical analysis results. By analyzing the features of all possible interference, this paper gives a study on signals initial processing applying method of digital filter and blind signal extraction. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is effective enough to the mechanical analysis task.

With the rapid development of electronic technology, the integrations of chips and modules become much more complex. Various types of communication equipment with more functions which make the heat of the device to increasingly become a problem. High temperatures may seriously affect the validity and reliability of electronic equipment and components. In order to dissipate the heat to the ultimate sink, thermal design need to design low thermal resistance paths both inside the electronic device and between the electronic device and the external environment. Industrial Ethernet switch runs in harsh environment, and the reliability, stability, security, environmental adaptability requirements higher than that of commercial Ethernet switches, these require a higher standard thermal design.

Based on the improved Continuation Power Flow algorithm, this paper investigates the impacts of FACTS on static voltage stability characteristics of AC/DC hybrid power system. This paper introduces the steady-state model of different FACTS devices, and the power flow mathematical model is established about AC/DC power system with FACTS devices. The impacts of FACTS devices with various capacities in different locations on static voltage stability are compared and analyzed. The calculation results of a four-machine two regions AC/DC power system show that FACTS are able to improve the voltage stability and the installation of SVC shunt compensation can possess a better effect to improve the system static voltage stability limit than TCSC series compensation.

A deep-buried highway tunnel is constructed with complex geological condition which existing an alternation of soft and hard rock and having feature of high ground stress, and extrusion, fall-block and twisted phenomena of supporting structure appear in many places during construction which pose a serious threat to the safety of tunnel construction. In combination with the construction process of Shimenya tunnel, by using the finite difference software FLAC3D, the surrounding rock stability is simulated, and the numerical calculation results of advanced pilot excavation method with different structural inclinations. The conclusion can be used for reference for the design and research of similar tunnels.

Biochar has caused great interest due to its sequestrating carbon and improving soil fertilities. It has been increasing attracted and applied to agriculture systems. However, many toxic compounds (e.g., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs),heavy metals) are likely to be formed during biochar production. These compounds may be existed in biochar matrix and even bioavailable to exposed organisms. Therefore, the formation and impact factors as well as the concentrations and bioavailability of these compounds are reviewed.

The failure of elastic perfect cylinders under uniform external pressure is caused by circumferential buckling. The effects of the cylinder length, of the restraining conditions at boundaries and of the length of the pressurized zone all have great influences on the critical buckling load. In the European Standard for Shells EN 1993-1-6 (2007), the critical circumferential buckling stress is obtained by introducing an external buckling factor which takes the influence of different boundary conditions into account. However, the restraint of the meridional rotation at boundaries was not considered separately for the factor. For short cylinders, any restraint of the boundaries affects the buckling mode and buckling strength greatly. In this paper, the effect of meridional end rotations on the buckling strength of short cylinders was studied. Many elliptical shells are used in structural applications in which the dominant loading condition is axial compression. Due to the fact that the radius varies along the cross-section midline, the buckling behavior is more difficult to identify than those of cylindrical shells. The general concerned aspects in cylindrical shell buckling analyses such as the buckling mode, the pre-buckling deformation and post-buckling deformation are all quite different related to specific elliptical shell geometry. The buckling behavior of elliptical cylindrical shells with uniform thickness has been widely studied by many researchers. However, the thickness around the circumference may change for some specific structural forms, the femoral neck for example, which makes the buckling behavior more complex. It is known that the buckling strength of thin cylindrical shells is quite sensitive to imperfections, so it is natural to explore the imperfection sensitivity of elliptical shells. This paper explores the buckling behavior of imperfect elliptical shells under axial compression. It is hoped that the results will make a useful contribution in this field.
