The current study aimed to evaluate the distance between the right common iliac artery (RCIA) and lumbar vertebra in asymptomatic patients in order to determine whether such distance was statistically correlated with the left common iliac vein (LCIV) diameter (LCIVD) and to investigate if both measures were related to demographic characteristics and anthropometric data, such as sex, age, height, and body mass index (BMI).

•After 12 months, sympathectomy to treat palmoplantar hyperhidrosis 70% of the patients reported compensatory hyperhidrosis and this same prevalence was observed with the objetive assessment with the Vapometer.•The body area that was most frequently affected with compensatory hyperhidrosis was the back, both by the objective and subjective assessments•There was no strong agreement between the subjective, that is, patient report, and the objetive method to assess compensatory hyperhidrosis, that is measurement with a Vapometer.

The costoclavicular space is a common site of thoracic outlet syndrome. When there is no anatomical alteration, the diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome is difficult. Several authors relate costoclavicular distance to symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome; however, there is no standardized site for measurement of the costoclavicular distance. This study aimed to determine the standard costoclavicular distance at neurovascular bundle crossing points (near the subclavian vein [Measure V] and the subclavian artery/brachial plexus branches [Measure NA]) using high-resolution chest computed tomography (CT) scans and evaluate its variations with respect to age, sex, height, and body mass index.

Extensive infrainguinal arterial disease still pose a challenge for technical and clinical success of percutaneous angioplasty. The purpose of this study was to compare the results of concomitant femoropopliteal and infrapopliteal percutaneous angioplasty/stenting (PTA/S) with distal bypass graft surgery (BGS) in patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI).

The carotid stent angioplasty (CAS) has been the main option for patients with high cardiovascular risk and carotid stenosis. Several factors that could influence the efficacy and satisfaction of patients after bilateral thoracic sympathectomy (video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathectomy [VATS]) in the treatment of hyperhidrosis (HH) have been studied, but no studies in the literature have specifically analyzed the effectiveness of treatment and variations in the quality of life of patients aged 40 years or older compared with those of young adult patients (19–40 years).

Active cancer is found in approximately 20% of patients diagnosed with venous thromboembolism. Atherosclerosis and abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) have several similar risk factors but different pathogenesis. Inflammation of the arteries is common to both. Central obesity can act as an endocrine organ through the secretion of inflammatory cytokines, and the perivascular fat has a local effect that could contribute to diseases of the abdominal aorta. Although the relation between central obesity and atherosclerosis occlusive arterial disease has been demonstrated, the correlation with AAA has conflicting results. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between central obesity and the presence of abdominal aortic diseases using computed tomography.

To characterize patients with internal carotid occlusion (ICO) with respect to demographic data, associated diseases, medical management, and risk factors and to compare these patients with those with nonsignificant stenosis (NSS; less than 50% stenosis). Secondary end points were new neurologic events, progression of contralateral degree of stenosis, cardiovascular symptoms, and death during follow-up.

Transient paraplegia of the lower limbs is a rare condition and, when has a vascular etiology, is usually associated with thromboembolic events, aortic dissection, aortic aneurysms, or as a complication of the surgical correction of those diseases. There is no case reported of acute paraplegia caused by a segmental thrombotic subocclusion of the descending thoracic aorta.

True aneurysm of the dorsal artery of the foot is extremely rare, and its clinical manifestations are little known. A case of a true dorsalis pedis artery aneurysm in a 51-year-old man, with no history of local trauma or injury on his foot, is presented. Clinical examination and ultrasonic imaging confirmed the aneurysm. Dorsalis pedis artery aneurysm after this had been exposed, the proximal and distal stumps of the dorsal artery of the foot were isolated and ligated, and the aneurysm was resected.

Videothoracoscopy sympathectomy (VATS) is the only definitive treatment for primary hyperhidrosis (HH). Since 2007, in our institution, patients with HH were initially treated with oxybutynin chloride to avoid VATS and reduce compensatory hyperhidrosis incidence with good results. The mechanisms underlying functional impairments in symptomatic PAD patients are controversial and poorly understood. Endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness have been proposed as potential mechanisms related to functional impairment in symptomatic PAD patients, however, more studies are needed to confirm these associations.

Splanchnic artery aneurysms (SAAs) represent a rare and potential life-threatening disease with a documented incidence of 0.1–2.0%. The risk of rupture and the diameter to recommend surgery are still controversial. The purpose of this study was to review surveillance computed tomography scans (CTs) at a high-volume institution in order to better define the natural history of the SAA.

The Vascular Quality of Life Questionnaire (VascuQoL-6) was proposed to evaluate specific quality of life of peripheral artery disease (PAD) patients. However, there is no Brazilian-Portuguese version available, blunting its use in Brazilian patients. The objective of the study was to analyze the psychometric properties of a translated Brazilian-Portuguese version of VascuQoL-6 in Brazilian patients with PAD with intermittent claudication symptoms.
