Venoarterial membrane oxygenation can be used as a rescue therapy for patients in refractory cardiogenic shock. Whereas there is experience with a bridge-to-transplant and bridge-to-ventricular assist device in the heart failure population, there are no reports of its use as a bridge to definitive valvular intervention.
