Abstract

A mutualistic synthesis concept via orthogonal chemical reactions ( disulfide and hydrazoneexchange) is reported by Jianwei Li et al. in this Communication ( e202412020). The cover picture describes a “ handcuffs” catenane that is formed by a tetrameric disulfide macrocycle and a linear hydrazone. Both species were formed as minor products when the reactions occurred independently, while the mutualistic co- amplification led to their formation in higher amounts. [Extracted from the article]
