Abstract

In addition to free sterols, higher plants contain significant amounts of sterol in the form of steryl fatty acyl esters, steryl ferulates, steryl glycosides, and steryl acylglycosides. Methods have now been developed for the analysis of these various steryl conjugates employing high temperature capillary gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
