The article reports on the innovation by the researchers at the University of Tennessee on electron-beam lithography (ELB) and nanoTransfer printing (nTP) to control the shape and spacing of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). It reports that the researchers, Nahla Abu Hatab, Jenny Oran, and Michael Sepaniak, used EBL to build a nTP that can stamp out well-defined arrays of nanoscale silver SERS substrates on PDMS. It reports that SERS is gaining popularity as a technique capable of single-molecule detection that works in conjunction with nanoparticulate or nanstructured noble-metal substrates. It offers information on how the researchers built their innovation and their future plans with SERS.
