The article features the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway, a108 miles road that begins in Yreka, California to O'Brien, Oregon. The State of Jefferson is considered as the 49th U.S. state which was formed because of its rebellion against the states of California and Oregon. The state was promoted by Gilbert Elledy Gable, Mayor of Port Orford, Oregon. Yreka was designated as the temporary state capital of Jefferson. The name of the state was adopted in honor of Thomas Jefferson, the third U.S. president.
