Abstract

The article discusses the creation of dicta in the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. The article examines the framework developed by Supreme Court Associate Justice Harry A. Blackmun, who wrote the majority opinion in the case. According to the article, the framework derived from Blackman's conclusion regarded state interests concerning a woman's pregnancy. The article states that Blackmun considered maternal health and the life of the fetus to be compelling state interests.
