Abstract

The article reports that the city of Barrow, Alaska has returned to its original name in the local Inupiaq language on December 1, 2016. Particular focus is given to the meaning of the Utqiagvik name. Also mentioned are voters' approval of the name change, civil lawsuit against the change, and the city council's stance on the repeal of the name.
