Abstract

The article discusses Internet-based software that China's Ministry of Science and Technology developed to measure savings that people can make in energy use and emissions on a daily basis. Called the Counter of Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, the software is said to reduce the lag in public participation in improving energy-related environmental conditions. The software addresses areas of family life and habits that include water use, cooking, use of paper, use of environmentally-friendly products, home-appliance use, and clothes washing.
