Abstract

one test (n1⁄4228; mean age 70.960.3years; 42.5% female) presented with lower 250HD concentrations (respectively, 49.91+1.54nmol/L and 45.1861.65nmol/L, P1⁄40.036). Serum 250HD was significantly associated with global cognitive impairment (unadjusted Odds Ratio (OR)1⁄40.82 with P1⁄40.037 per 25nmol/L of 250HD; adjusted OR1⁄40.80 with P1⁄40.042 for full adjusted model; adjusted OR1⁄40.78 with P1⁄40.027 for stepwise backward model), but neither with episodic memory disorders (unadjusted OR1⁄40.86 with P1⁄40.142; adjusted OR1⁄40.86 with P1⁄40.190) nor with capacity planning/spatial arrangement disorders (unadjusted OR1⁄40.84 with P1⁄40.097; adjusted OR1⁄40.86 with P1⁄40.223). Conclusions: Serum 250HD was associated with global cognitive function in our cohort of high functioning older adults, but not with episodic memory, capacity planning and spatial arrangement. Continued work is needed toward understanding the role of vitamin D in cognition.
