In recent years a new type of pavement has gained popularity in the United Kingdom this type is called Semi flexible Pavements (SFP). It consists of porous asphalt with high air voids between (25-35) % and is filled with cementitious grout materials. SFP is a combination road surface that incorporates the effects of both porous asphalt and cement paste grout. In addition it has proven to function well in strongly loaded freeways and airport pavement. The primary goal of this research was to assess the performance and durability of SFP contained sustainable grout material. The Reed Waste Ash (RWA) was adopted as a partial replacement for conventional grout material and Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) used in SFP. Also superplasticizer (SP) was used to improve the fluidity of grout and waste paper fiber (W-PF) was used as a modifier for asphalt binder. The indirect Tensile Stress (ITS) and Tensile Strength Ratio (TSR) tests were used to evaluate the resistance of new SFP to cracking and moisture susceptibility while the wheel track test was used to assess the resistance to permanent deformation. The results showed that the SFP containing OPC+10% RWA enhanced the moisture susceptibility of SFP up to 83.52 %. In addition, the result of the abrasion test of the SFP mixture containing OPC+10%RWA gives a great improvement, reached to 55% and 88% for unaged and aged specimens, respectively, when compared to the control mix. The study aims to produce concrete using various percentages of hypo-sludge ash (HAS) in place of cement. The waste paper sludge ash is composed of magnesium oxide and calcium oxide. Therefore, it can be tested as an innovative cement replacement, providing a solution for traditional concrete. For this study, the various proportions of ash used are 5%, 10%, and 15% by weight of cement. The mixed design carried out was as per the Indian standard code. The ingredients used for concrete making are cement, aggregates, hypo sludge ash (HSA), superplasticizer, and water. A test mix was carried out to check the behaviour of a concrete mix, and its physical and hardening properties were checked. Cube samples were cured for 3, 7, 14, and 28 days to check hardening properties. Super teak is a fast grown species of teak (Tectona grandis Linn. f) derived from several clones. This has facilitated plantation rotations as short as 5 years. The main target of conventional plantation teak was initially for high value logs. Young teak wood from plantation forest usually has a small diameter. Moreover, the wood from very young stems is unsuitable for direct utilization, but advance wood processing technology can improve the wood properties of small diameter logs. This study aimed to assess the potential utilization of young super teak for high quality products namely furniture, flooring, and veneer, and assess the possibility of the use of manufacture waste for pulp paper and wood pellets as side products. The evaluation were carried out according to the National Indonesian Standard and other international standard requirements. 18 logs from wet (Bogor) and dry (Magetan) sites representing large, medium, and small diameter classes were collected. According to SNI 01-0608-1989 Timber for Furniture, 5-year-old super teak was suitable for furniture production. Furthermore, according to SNI 7732.1: 2011: Teak Veneer, the super teak was classified as Grade C because of the presence of sapwood, pinholes, tight and lose knots. According to Australian Timber Flooring Association, 5-year-old super teak was classifiesd as soft flooring group, the same group as mature teak & radiata pine. The young super teak was classified as Class Quality/Group II with very low active alkali consumption and low Kappa Number according to Indonesian wood fibre criteria for pulp and paper materials and Association of Pulp and Paper in Brazil. This work relates to the development of recycled paper from waste paper with the objective of optimization of the composition. The paper properties are much affected with composition like amount of waste paper, fresh paper, cotton shreds, adhesives and water. Samples were made by taking different composites and tests were performed to evaluate properties i.e. thickness, coefficient of friction, moisture content, scott bond strength, tensile strength. This study aims to identify the performances of cationic starch (CS) and sodium carboxymethyl celluloses (CMC-Na) as dry strength additives (DSA). The CS and CMC-Na were incorporated with to pulp slurry in different dosages (0.5%-2.0%) during stock preparation. The basic weight of 80 g/m2 was made for each treatment. The results showed that the utilization of CMC-Na had better mechanical properties compared to the CS for all treatments. In general, apparent density and mechanical properties were significantly affected by the addition of DSA. However, through the observation of the experiment, the enhancing effect of CMC-Na on mechanical properties of wastepaper was much higher than using CS except for tear strength. Lignosulfonate is produced as a waste in the production of paper. Its sodium variant is used in the construction industry as a plasticizer and stabilizing additive in natural-based adhesives. It consists of components that have been subjected to ecotoxicity testing under REACH as individual components (sodium salts C14-16-alkanehydroxy and C14-16-alkene sulfonic acids, sodium hydroxide, octhilinone), not as a whole mixture. Therefore, ecotoxicological tests of the sodium lignosulfonate were performed in this study to assess environmental safety (100 mg/L). Testing was performed on four organisms: algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) and crustaceans (Daphnia magna), yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisae), mustard (Sinapis alba) in acute aquatic tests. The results indicate stimulation of parameters in all model organisms, toxicity was not demonstrated. Therefore, sodium lignosulfonate probably acted as an eutrophicator in aqueous solutions. Increasing population growth has an impact on increasing waste production which is not balanced with the number of trash cans in urban areas. The cleaning staff plays an important role in monitoring the contents of the trash cans so that there is no pile of garbage that can carry various types of diseases. Monitoring the contents of trash cans carried out by cleaning staff at Kuntum Cemerlang School is still done manually, so it takes a long time to monitor all the contents of trash cans in the surrounding environment. If the trash can is empty or contains only a small amount of trash, then this will waste time and cause delays in disposing of waste to the waste bank. The purpose of this research is to implement an Arduino Uno and an ultrasonic sensor based on the Internet of Things (IoT) so that the time spent by cleaners to monitor the contents of trash cans is more effective. The design of the tool starts from an ultrasonic sensor that is connected to an arduino uno based on the internet of things (IoT) using the blynk application service on a smartphone. android. The data from the ultrasonic sensor will be transmitted to database the blynk applicationvia the ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module so that the blynk application will display height information from the contents of the trash can. This study resulted in three conditions of the height of the contents of the trash can, namely: still empty, almost full and already full. Cellulose is the most abundant of natural macromolecules in nature, and it can be obtained from the wastepaper. Wastepaper is mainly produced by daily activities such as school and office. This research aims to isolate and characterize the cellulose from wastepaper through the stages of double bleaching/ delignification under stirring and heating. The functional group analysis, crystallinity, and thermal analysis were performed using FTIR, XRD and TGA. Cellulose has some main functional groups, they are –OH stretching, -CH alkane, H-O-H bending, -CH2 bending, -OH bending, -C-O-C asymmetry and β-glycosidic for each wavenumber at 3403, 2902, 1639, 1431, 1373, 1060 and 897 cm−1. Cellulose of wastepaper has a degree of C.I. of 71%, while the onset temperature (Tonset) observed at 292.15 °C. The global production of paper is on the rise, thus leading to increasing amounts of waste in different stages of paper manufacture. Paper sludge waste is the most abundant and there is a big potential to reuse it after appropriate processing. This research paper analyses paper sludge waste fired at 900°C temperature for 2 h in terms of mineral composition, particle density and water demand in cement-based mixtures, as well as the effect of paper sludge waste on the density, ultrasonic pulse velocity, compressive strength and mineral composition of cement-based specimens. In the cement paste mixtures 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% of cement was replaced with paper sludge waste fired at 900°C temperature for 2 h. The ratio between water and solid substances was 0.35. Gehlenite and calcium oxide were found to prevail in the mineral composition of paper sludge waste, whereas water demand of cement-based mixture incorporating paper sludge waste increased 30%. The intensity of XRD curves revealed that a higher content (more than 7.5%) of paper sludge waste fired at 900°C temperature for 2 h in the mix increases the amount of portlandite and reduces the amounts of cement minerals: alite and belite. An empirical equation was drawn on the grounds of statistical analysis to calculate the compressive strength according paper sludge waste content fired at 900°C temperature for 2 h. The correlation and determination factors more than 0.9 demonstrate that the change of compressive strength in relation to paper sludge waste content can be described by the second degree polynomial equation and the optimum content of paper sludge waste fired at 900°C temperature for 2 h in the cement matrix is 5%. Concrete is a versatile composite material which due to its beneficial properties e.g., form ability, fast construction process, relatively high compressive strength available in short term, considerable long-term durability, etc. may find usage in many applications throughout different sectors. Dense composite matrix which is, on the one hand, responsible for good mechanical resistance can be, on the other hand, counterproductive in view of excessive dead loading of bearing structures and its high thermal conductivity. In this paper waste expanded polystyrene as a replacement of traditional dense aggregate in concrete production was used. Polymer-based alternative, in the fraction of 2.0/4.0 mm, was applied in amounts of 0-100 vol.%, and its effect on physical, strength and thermal-physical properties on 28 days aged concretes was monitored. Obtained data confirmed combined substantial lightening of produced composites accompanied with improvement of their thermal-insulation function. High dosages of lightweight aggregate in concrete mixes led to significant reduction of their mechanical resistance, however, at balanced portions of polymeric material structural grade concrete may be manufactured. This study aims, through experimental works, to develop a new and sustainable binder by reusing two waste materials, namely waste paper slag ash (WPSA) and granite dust (GD) to stabilize fine-grained soil and reduce the environmental impacts resulting from improper disposal in addition to reducing the use of cement and lime in soil stabilization. The soil utilized in this research was obtained from a site near 80th Street in Babylon Provence. The experimental works included sieve and hydrometer analysis, consistency limits, compaction test, and unconfined compression strength test at 3, 7, and 28 days of curing. Various binary blended binders derived from mixing of WPSA and GD at different proportions; 10:0, 7.5:2.5, 5:5, 2.5:7.5, and 0:10 were utilized. These binary blended binders were mixed with the virgin soil at 10% in the samples testing procedure. The results showed that the use of the mixture containing GD alone resulted in a reduction in the LL, PL, and PI, and when increase the percentage of WPSA in the mixture, LL and PL were increased while PI decreased. Moreover, the maximum dry density of the treated soil increased with the use of GD, however, it decreased significantly after the employing WPSA in the binder used. As per the outcomes of the compressive strength test, it was shown that the use of the mixture WPG0 that contains (100% WPSA) gave the highest compressive strength, which is equivalent to 14 times of that for the virgin soil after 28 days of curing. The strength then dropped with increasing the percentage of granite dust in the mixture. This application uses a distributed database so that the database is more secure and maintained its integrity. The results of E-Voting can be seen by voters so that transparency for voters. This application can be implemented in several elections that require transparency of the results with the election time can be set as needed. Briquettes produced from scrap paper are known for their low calorific value. The calorific value of briquettes from waste paper is in the fourth rank after waste wood, charcoal, and sawdust. Therefore, the correct ratio of composition mixture to create a higher calorific value is required. Spent Coffee Ground (SCG) has been selected as an added material in the composition of biomass mixture since SCG has a high calorific value and is easily found. The purpose of the study is to find the correct ratio that may increase the calorific value of the bio-briquettes made of scrap paper, based on comparative testing and analysis. There are four composition mixture samples used in the study. The first composition mixture is 90% of scrap paper and 10% adhesive; the second one is 70% of scrap paper, 20% of SCG, and 10% adhesive; the third composition mixture is 50% of scrap paper, 40% of SCG, 10% of adhesive; and the fourth composition mixture includes 30% of scrap paper, 60% of SCG and 10% of adhesive. The study shows that the greater ratio of SCG used in the composition will result in a higher calorific value. The research concludes that briquettes achieve their best performances in the composition mixture of 40% of SCG. In the proposed ratio, briquettes are not brittle and produce 5.366 kcal/kg of calorific value; 6.58% of water content; 5.37% of ash content; 28.28% of volatile matter; and 8.91% of shatter index. Open graded friction course (OGFC) mixtures are generally utilised as an overlay layer on existing pavement layers at thicknesses of up to 50 mm. They are designed with open aggregate skeletons to mitigate noise impact, reduce spray and splash, and minimise night glare. They have also gained widespread popularity worldwide as a result of features such as slip resistance, water permeability, and urban heat reduction. However, despite these advantages, their design structure is somewhat weak due to the high proportion of large gradient gravel content with a lack of smaller particle gradations. In addition to creating air voids of up to 22%, these can cause bitumen and filler to drain down, which is considered one of the main problems of such mixtures. Several researchers have thus attempted to modify the properties of such mixtures by using additives to strengthen the asphalt bond, with improvement sought by adding polymer materials, fiber, or similar additives as additional soft materials. In this study, waste paper fiber (W-PF) was added after being picked to a small size, as this additive has not been used in previous research, in this area and offers both environmental and economic advantages. This was added to the binder at percentages of 0.3%, 0.5% and 0.7% by weight, and the performance of each mix was checked with respect to volumetric properties (air voids, bulk density, porosity and permeability) and mechanical properties (Cantabro wear loss (CL), skid resistance and indirect tensile strength (ITS)). The results show that incorporating W-PF into the asphalt binder generally improves the mixture's performance. With respect to volumetric scales, it leads to higher values of porosity, air voids, and permeability, with improvements of around 14%, 10%, and 31%, respectively, at 0.7% W-PF by weight of binder. As the paper dose increases, the bulk density decreases, and the mechanical characteristics such as skid resistance and ITS increase, by roughly 38% and 24%, respectively, at 0.7% W-PF. A significant demand has been placed on the building material industry, especially in the last decade due to the increasing population, which causes a chronic shortage of building materials. The current study aims at utilizing waste paper to produce papercrete bricks and study their engineering properties, a step towards sustainable development. Papercrete is rapidly gaining popularity in the building construction industry worldwide because of its environmental friendliness, low-cost and lightweight. The study considered literature and related ideas up to conceptualization and design of the trial ratio used in testing. Trial mixes of paper sludge, sand, and cement at different proportions made papercrete bricks of dimensions 220×110×102 mm. The tests conducted included compressive strength and water absorption. The mixes of paper sludge, sand, and cement in the ratio of 50, 35, and 15%, respectively, gave the best results. The compressive strength increased with the increase in the curing period. The rate at which the papercrete bricks absorbed water reduced as the curing period increased for all the papercrete trial mixes. The rapid development of the industrial sector has increased either energy demand or generate a tremendous effect on waste piles. To combat the issue of poor sanitation due to waste accumulation and multiply the energy sources, the government promotes energy diversification, particularly dealing with waste management. This study aims to recycle plastic waste, paper waste and sawdust into solid fuel briquettes while observing their physical and combustion properties. Briquette production is carried out by combining waste of plastics and sawdust with binding agents, such as paper pulp and cassava starch. These materials were mixed with water, being compacted and conventionally dried under the sunlight. Solid briquette was then tested for calorific value, moisture content and volatile matter to ensure the effectiveness of combustion. The results show that the modified composition of plastic and paper with the ratio of 3:1 is physically sturdy with minor cracks, has a greater calorific value of 6801.62 Cal/gr, low moisture content (4.73%) and volatile matter (5.50%). The modified composition of paper: plastic: sawdust with the ratio of 1:1:1 exhibits more sturdy stuff, with a calorific value of 4565.47 Cal/ gr, low moisture content (1.85%) but high volatile matter (34.07%). Waste conversion to solid fuel briquette can be utilized as future green energy alternative in any major cities of Indonesia. The utilization of waste into potential energy sources has received much attention in recent years. Various technology was applied with the purpose to convert waste into a useful product. One of the applications of waste to energy ideas is refuse derived fuel (RDF). In Universitas Pertamina Area, paper and plastic are two types of waste that generate large amounts of waste every day. It is due to main activities coming from educational and office activities. The generation of paper waste reached 129.1 kg/day, while 93.9 kg of plastic waste was thrown away at the temporary waste shelter every day. In this research, the various compositions of paper and plastic waste (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) were pelletized into RDF to investigate the water content, ash content, and calorific value the RDF then compared to the standard. The result showed that all RDF compositions had passed the standard quality of RDF from the point of water content and ash content (RDF standar is <25% of water content and 20% of ash content). On the other hand, the calorific value of RDF (paper 100%) did not meet the RDF Standard (15 MJ/kg) while the rest of the RDF composition had passed the standard. When combined with the amount of waste generation, the composition of 100% plastic waste was the highest potential caloric value reached 3,954.0 MJ/day. The article discusses the digital transformation of media collections in the library. Research that illustrates how processing collection over media, obstacles faced by the Library Service of the Province of South Sumatra. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with the aim of getting a more detailed description of the processing of collections over media. Data collection techniques in the study were carried out by observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the head of the library, the head of conservation, the media transfer section, and librarians. The results of the study showed that the processing of media transfer collections consisted of three stages after the media transfer. The main obstacle in processing the transfer of media is the lack of human resources that are competent in the field of media transfer besides that, inadequate facilities due to lack of available budget. Construction and demolition (C&D) trash accounts for a significant fraction of global solid waste production, with the majority of it ending up in landfills. The data for modelling work was gathered in the form of cement content, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, water content, water cement ratio and wastepaper ash for 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of cement replacement. The model was developed by considering 80% of collected previous research data for training, 10% for testing and another 10% for validation which trained using the Levenberg-Marquardt Back Propagation (LMBP) method in Matlab2017a. The R value obtained from the training, testing and validation data was 0.99999, 0.99843 and 0.99902 respectively meanwhile the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) values obtained were 0.458 and 1.070, respectively. In the form of percentage, the MAE and RMSE values were 1.53% and 3.57%, respectively. The result indicates a highly correlation between the data input and the targeted data. Therefore, the simulation model using ANN is effective to predict compressive strength of concrete that may reduce the usage of cement, recycling option for waste material, and increase the efficiency of sampling work. Many environmental damages are caused by humans, one of which is environmental damage due to waste. Waste is the residue of daily human activities. Almost all human activities produce waste, be it activities in residential areas, offices, and even activities on campus. Hasanuddin University is one of the campuses with various faculty buildings and offices that carry out various types of activities and produce various types of waste. The Faculty of Pharmacy is a faculty with a new building at Hasanuddin University. Waste management carried out by the faculty includes packaging, collection, and transportation. In contrast, waste processing is carried out, including composter, selling paper waste to waste banks, and burning dry leaf waste. To carry out good, organized, and proper waste management based on SNI 19-2454-2002, good operational waste management is needed. From the results of research and calculation of waste generation carried out under SNI-19-3964-1994, the largest composition of waste produced by the Pharmacy Faculty Building is plastic waste by 31% then followed by organic waste by 26%. The waste generation generated is 0.026 kg/person/day or 0.777 l/person/day. The waste management plan at the Faculty of Pharmacy Building is sorting, containerization, temporary collection, and transportation. Asbestos and gypsum ceiling board, which recently used, possess certain health risks to humans other than being environmentally-unfriendly. This project aims to investigate the potential use of waste paper in the production of ceiling material to meet the aim of producing an eco-friendly and cost-effective product. The idea of replacing the raw materials to manufacture ceiling boards with the waste paper is to carry out to ascertain its suitability as ceiling board material. The waste paper pulp was sun-dried before mixed with UF adhesive and is compressed under pressure 204 kg/m2 under a temperature of 105°C. The tests conducted include density test, moisture content test, and water absorption test. Tabulated results have shown that the material is more lightweight and comparable moisture content compared to the asbestos and gypsum board material. Pulp and paper industrial waste or what is known as black liquor contains toxic contents, if not treated first, it can cause environmental pollution. So far, black liquor has only been used for the manufacture of biofuels and fuel for the paper industry, while 46% of lignin is the total solids in the black liquor component itself. This study aims to determine how much the percentage of decolorization of black liquor and producing lignin with bright colors using the coagulation method. The coagulant used in this study was Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) with various concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%) v / v. The results showed that the coagulation method proved effective in decolorizing lignin made from black liquor as raw material. The optimum condition to obtain decolorization was 90.44% using 2% PAC coagulant concentration and the total retention time of 24 hours. In addition, FTIR was used to qualitatively analyze the sludge produced during the coagulation process, and the results showed that there are several different groups in the lignin unit. The lignin obtained using the coagulation method produces a brighter brown color, is insoluble in water and odorless with a yield of 38.3%, a pH of 1.68, a purity of 54.8%, and water content and an ash content of 0.2% and 27.2%, respectively. The article discusses the use of non-traditional types of organic waste in vermicomposting in the territory of the middle taiga forest zone of Western Siberia in greenhouses. The main objects of the study were brewer's grains, waste from the production of the Kristal brewing company in the city of Surgut and wastewater sludge from the treatment facilities of the Gorvodokanal in Surgut. Additionally, the composition of complex composts included sand, office waste paper, waste coffee, food waste, leaf and grass litter, bird droppings and the microbiological additive ''Tamir". The compost worms of the Eisenia foetida ''Prospector" species were used as vermiculture. In a series of experiments, individuals of immature worms were used. The resulting vermicomposting is more effective in quality than the original substrates. The use of the hybrid Prospector can be effectively used in the disposal of non-traditional organic waste. Complex composts mature more efficiently when microbiological additives are added. In the studied substrates, the content of heavy metals was reduced to maximum permissible levels of content. Urbanization, increase in population and change in lifestyle of human beings increased pressure on natural resources and accumulation of industrial waste in the environment. Dumping and landfilling of such industrial waste especially the solid waste is leading towards severe environmental degradation in the form of water pollution, air pollution and soil pollution etc. Due to increase in installation of more paper mills, there is rapid increase in quantity of solid waste from these industries. In recent years, utilization of lime mud generated from paper mill has been emerged as a potential method to reuse/recover the usable rich material and reduce the quantity of waste and its disposal cost for landfilling/dumping. In this experimental examination, an effort has been complete to examine the behavior of the bricks developed using the waste (lime mud) from paper industry waste and other paper sludge by partial replacing the clay to the extent from 10% to 50%. The bricks were developed by using varying composition. Later execution various tests, it has been detected that bricks made from partial replacement of clay with lime mud are light weight, having desirable compressive strength, corrosion resistant. Paper waste production in DKI Jakarta according to data from The Jakarta's Environmental Services reaches an average of 40% of total waste production per month for each municipality (kotamadya). On the other hand, Indonesia's necessity of construction development, notably residential home, is increasing constantly along with the amount of Indonesia's population. This condition stimulates innovation of eco-friendly, inexpensive building material with suitable strength. Since 1990's, papercrete, concrete with waste paper as substitution of fine and/ or coarse aggregate, has been studied. Its use for structural materials has evolved and required supporting research for application on larger structural components. In this research, homogeneity aspect of papercrete from domestic waste (office) is investigated along a certain height of vertical beam. To do so, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) propagation measurement on 5 vertical prismatic beam specimens was conducted. By using direct mode transmission, two transducerswere used through 15 cm of width. Rate of propagation can detect the density of concrete at each level since early age of concrete (2 hour after casting). It describes the distribution of material inside. The rise in paper waste from the paper processing sector is becoming the most important issue of disposal by filling large space and polluting the atmosphere, as it rises day to day. To decrease the paper waste as well as environmental emissions, it is recommended to use the paper waste in concrete as Hypo sludge. That contains the properties of cement such as SiO2 & Mg. Cement is the predominant material in concrete. In this research cement is replaced with fly ash as well as hypo sludge. By adding 5percent of fly ash and 0%, 3 %, 6%,9%,12% and 15% of hypo sludge, split tensile strength & compressive strength of concrete as well as Hypo sludge concrete efficiency are being tested. Split tensile strength & compressive strength of hypo sludge concrete are improved by the experiment up to 9% behind this % strength will decrease. The aim of this research was to manufacture composite panel that can be used as wall panel for earthquake resistantly building. First stage on wall panel production was done by preparing polypropylene plastic waste, coconut coir fiber, and waste sludge paper mill. The second stage was carried out by mixing polypropylene plastic waste with coconut coir fiber and sludge of paper mill waste. In this research, two mixing variations were carried out. First variation was done by mixing polypropylene plastic waste and coconut fiber in a ratio of 60:40 without adding sludge, while the other was done by mixing sludge, polypropylene plastic waste and coconut fiber with a ratio of 60:20:20. The mixing process was done using extruder and the drying process was done using hot press. Density, internal adhesion values, and thickness extension of resulted composite panels then was characterized. From two variations resulted wall panels were found that the wall panels with sludge addition has better density value of 0.9713 g/cm3 compare to composite panel without sludge addition where its density value of 1.093 g/cm3. In addition, the internal adhesive strength value of the wall panels without sludge addition of 0.59 N/mm2, whereas it improved to 0.61 N/mm2 on panel with sludge addition. Moreover, the thickness of the panel that was produced without sludge addition was 0.508 percent, while panel with sludge addition decreased to 0.104 percent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this research, the cellulose has been successfully extracted from different type of wastes such as paper waste (empty tissue roll (ETR) & egg tray (ET) and fruit waste (jack fruit rind (JR)). From the extracted cellulose, the cellulose had been modified to Cellulose Acetate (CA). Modification of cellulose to CA involved acetylation process that used sulphuric acid (H2SO4) as catalyst. FTIR results showed that some of the peak disappeared after extraction process at certain wavelength (1700 – 1600 cm−1, ∼1500 cm−1). The intensity of few peaks at 3500 – 3000 cm-1 and 3000 – 2800 cm-1 also decreased after extraction process. All samples (ETR, ET and JR) for CA24 exhibit lowest intensity compared to other contact time. This might be due to the increasing of acetyl group in cellulose backbone and hydrophobicity of the film. This is due to the removal of certain compounds such as lignin and hemicellulose in all raw sample. The effect of contact time (1 to 24 hours) to the acetyl content and degree of substitution (DS) had been studied. It found that, for all wastes exhibited high acetyl content and high of degree of substitution when the contact was 24 hours. In mechanical properties, all CA24 film exhibit slightly higher tensile strain compare to cellulose film for both samples (ET, ETR and JR). Young's Modulus and tensile stress for CA24 film is also higher compare to cellulose film. This is due to the elimination of OH- groups which reduce the water sensitivity of cellulose and due to the internal plasticization of CH3CO- groups. Moreover, acetylation process increase the mechanical properties of the film produced. It can also be seen that Young's modulus increase with increase in CA contact time. This is expected, as addition of CA give a dense structure to film resulting in higher modulus values than porous structure. CA-24 film has the lowest moisture uptake. This is because CA-24 has lower OH- group presence in it. Therefore, ca-24 film shows better hydrophobicity. CA-24 film has lowest solubility most likely due to the replacement of OH- groups to CH3CO- groups. The replacement of OH- groups in cellulose with CH3CO- groups reduced its solubility in water but enhance its solubility in organic solvents. DSC results revealed that the CA24 for all samples (ETRP, ETR and JR) exhibit low Tg. This is due to the fact that, the increasing of contact of time, will increase the number of acetyl group. Hence, when the number of acetyl group increased, the hydrophobicity of the film also increased. Therefore, the ability of CA to form hydrogen bonding with water molecules also decrease. This paper presents an experimental study carried out by utilising waste paper in concrete Bricks which is a new innovation composite material. An experimental study on compaction strength, weight, water absorption characteristics subjected to sun dried and water curing methods of casting were studied in details. Indonesia has targeted to reach 23% of renewable energy share by 2025. In order to meet the target, many researchers have focused on the explorations of renewable energy resources. One of the potential solutions to meet the target is the agricultural wastes, include corn cobs and areca nut fiber. In this study, the calorific value of corn cobs and areca nut fiber are tested. The corn cobs and areca nut fiber are collected from the farmers in Sumatera Utara province of Indonesia. In addition, the Paper waste is also tested. A bomb calorimeter of IKA C6000 is used to measure the energy content of the biomass. The results show that the calorific value of Corn cobs and Areca nut fiber is 5573 Cal/g and 4946 Cal/g, respectively.By using the average yearly production of Corn and Areca nut, these calorific values similar to 4,539 TOE and 4,653 TOE, respectively. If the potency can be used to replace the coal as an alternative fuel, this potency will reduce the Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. The recycling of waste paper conserves our natural resources and will retrieve environmental quality. Concentrate on recycling waste paper into the usable board will benefit plants and the environment. This research depends on the investigation of manufacturing of usable board from waste paper. This manufacturing board can use instead of the board which manufactures from ordinary wood. On the other hand, it protected the forest and eliminates waste that harms the environment. This research illustrates the efficiency of our manufacturing board material by using mechanical tests and comparing it with a board manufactured by two types of ordinary wood and Medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Also, comparing the heat isolation between them. In this project, we use three types of waste paper: white, yellow envelope and newspaper. This waste paper produced our new board material. Our samples were manufactured with dimensions of 10*10 cm and 2 cm thickness. Different amount of waste paper and white glue was investigated to produce a batter board. Our study for the manufactured board materials demonstrated that a white paper sample was the battery on hardness and tensile test. However, yellow envelope samples were more efficient in the impact test than other samples. Moreover, yellow envelope samples were the better one between our samples in heat isolation. Borassus flabellifer L. becomes one of the palm-based commodities in Indonesia that can grow well in dry areas, especially around the north coast of Java Island. An abundant waste of this plant, in the form of leaf midrib and fruit fiber, has a potential as a source of lignocellulose for the paper industry. In the present study, Kraft paper production was conducted to know the influence of the proportion of leaf midrib and fruit fiber of Borassus flabellifer L., and the concentration of Polyvinyl Acetate (PVAc) adhesives on the sensory and physical quality of Kraft paper. The research method was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The Friedman test was used to determine the sensory quality of Kraft paper. The ANOVA analysis was used to examine the physical quality of Kraft paper. The results showed that the treatment of raw material proportion and PVAc adhesive concentration had significant effect on color, surface texture, yield, and tensile resistance, but insignificant between treatment of Gramatur and tear resistance. The best treatment of sensory tests was Kraft paper with proportion of 50% leaf midrib pulp, 50% fruit fiber pulp, and 7.5% PVAc adhesive concentration. It has a yield value of 72.11%, Gramatur of 162.80 (g/m²), tensile strength of 1.70 (%), and tear resistance of 197.6 (gf). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

One of the relatively inexpensive alternative energy sources in terms of production and relatively environment friendly was the development of bioethanol from urban wastes that contain many lignocellulose such as paper waste. This study characterizes the composition of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin in blank HVS paper, inked HVS and newspaper. The results showed the predominate cellulose (49-60 %) while the lignin concentration was very low due to the removal of colors (lignin) in the manufacturing process. The experiments continued with synthesis of bioethanol through Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation (SSF) process. A combination of enzymes (Cellulase + Cellobiase) in 1:1 weight ratio and Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used for hydrolysis and fermentation in the SSF process. Paper waste from newspapers, inked HVS, and empty HVS papers were used as raw materials. The initial pH of SSF in the column was at pH 5. Variation of enzyme concentration was carried at 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 g. The SSF process was carried out at incubation time of 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, and 96 hours. The ink affected the concentration of bioethanol produced. In this study, the best bioethanol content was produced by inked HVS and Newspapers at 0.5 grams of enzyme with a concentration of 1531 and 1111 ppm, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During recycling of waste paper from private households different fractions containing plastics and polluted paper fibers are received. Current research at the Institute of Polymer Materials and Plastics Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology showed that the use of waste paper as filler and reinforcement in polypropylene leads to nearly the same mechanical properties as natural fibers like flax, sisal and hemp. The present investigations focus on the chemical cleaning of the paper recyclate to treat the fiber surface and to solve foreign plastics like polystyrene. For this purpose Soxhlet extraction with different solvents is used. The received extracts are examined via infrared spectroscopy, as well as the treated and the untreated fibers. Afterwards, the cleaned paper is incorporated into polypropylene. The received composites are investigated regarding their mechanical properties by tensile testing and CHARPY impact testing. Synthesis of C-Dots from waste paper has been successfully created. A total of 5 grams of waste paper is mixed with 40 mL aquades, 30 mL H2SO4 and 50 mL NaOH 2 M. A precursor solution is prepared by adding urea in 20 ml of material. Synthesis of C-Dots done by heating the precursor hydrothermally using a furnace with three conditions, namely with 1-4 grams of urea, 20-50 minutes of synthesis time, and 150-300°C of temperature. In a variation of urea and time, the temperature is controlled at 300°C. In a variation of the time and temperature, urea is controlled at 3 grams. In a variation of the urea and temperature, time is controlled for 30 minutes. The maximum absorption C-Dots generated on the various of amount urea, temperature, and synthesis time in the range of 360-600 nm. The width of the absorbance area was increased by adding 1-3 grams of urea and were decreased when urea is added 4 grams or more. The absorbance peaks of C-dots decreases with increasing temperature synthesis. Meanwhile, an increasing of synthesis time does not affect to the width of the absorbance spectra. It precisely causes decreasing of peaks of the absorbance spectra. The functional groups present on the surfaces of C-dots can be identified by the presence of specific peaks in their FTIR spectra, i.e. N-H, C=C, C-N, and C-C at various urea, N-H, C=O, C=C and C-O at temperature and synthesis time.
